pretty happy with that considering it wasn't until the 10th before the knee could get through more than 8km

The gf got sent a save the date for the wedding of her best friend for the day of the Waihi ultra, so I am investigating alternatives. The Rinjani ultra in Indonesia looks interesting...

Tinder is a pretty good place to start.

Don't mind me, I was suggesting that you get a new gf. Even though I've met your gf and she's lovely.

The cats are brown now.

No time for a run today

Calling feb done. 135km @ 5.06

Was hoping to be hitting 150 p/month again but I'll put it down to being ripped off 3 days this month + football training once a week and basketballing once a week.

But more importantly I've successfully rehabbed a bung knee and I'm on track to be rid of the plantar fasciitis in my right foot. Feeling roundly unprepared for Six Foot but I'll be ok.

You can go two ways after the 6FT, you either realise how crazy running for 5 plus hours and start thinking about running shorter distances or the run breaks your brain and you start thinking running either longer is the next logical progression.

Physio banned me from running for 2 weeks to try to fix my foot up.

I done got the ultra bug. By the time I finished 6FT I was ready to eat a bowl of metal shavings and ask for seconds.

I'm considering setting a life goal of running an ultra in every state and territory of Australia.

March - 105km (in 8 runs, heh) @ 8.15 min/km.

April will be spent breaking in my orthodics, riding the treadly and hopefully some running towards the end of the month.

March:

72km @ 5.10

Pretty pissweak, but the month included a week long bucks party in Bangkok, a wedding and the first 10 days of honeymoon.

Sure April won't be much better but I'll try make some time for running around the Tuscan countryside

Went for my first run and bit of exercise in 7 months. 3.5km, good pace. Actually much better pace than I expected but no doubt I will die from mega DOMS tomorrow. Feels damn good to be back though, I felt so alive out there.

I recently added a pair of Brooks Pure Flow to my arsenal. I'm easing into using them on short runs a couple of times a week.

They're a lower heel to toe drop, but still have the support of a traditional running shoe. They make your calves and achilles work a lot harder and I've noticed a difference in my glutes as well. It's a good compromise if you don't want to go all the way to running in Vibrams or whatever.

April done:

77km @ 5.48

pace and distance way down, partly because most my runs were either trails, up steps or over mountains last month, but also partly because running took a back seat to eating pizza/pasta/buffet breakfasts and drinking a litre of wine a day..

back on the horse in May!

I'm writing a mara training plan for the GF, we're going to do Sydney together. At this stage I think I'll be doing a 101km in Canberra the week after. Whoo, running.

Last year I was running sub 2 hour 21km for fun on the weekend, now a 15km long run hurts for a day afterwards.

Aiming to get back to that level of running fitness before mid August.

Meant to ask, how did TNF50 compare to 6FT?

TNF50 is a lot harder. Obviously it's 5km longer, but there's also a lot more technical single track. There's also a lot more stairs, both up and down. The big ascent in the new course starts at about 36km and goes right to the end. The last km is absolutely brutal. It's 900 steps and about 200m vertical gain. I'm not sure exactly what the overall vertical gain of the TNF50, because everyone's GPS lost signal at one point or another, but apparently a dude on coolrunning had a barometric altimeter and said it was about 2300m.

I think if you've done 6FT, TNF50 is a great next race. It's harder, but I think the course is better. That said, I was much better prepared for this race than I was for 6FT.
