So what is the 620 like Luke, my 405 is almost 4 years old now. Might be time for an upgrade.

I've read that the 620 isn't very accurate in relation to most others including the 220. The GF has one of those and it seems to do everything you'd need.

Not really a compelling argument for me to move from a 405 to a 220 though, it's got some cool feature but probably not enough. Should probably buy a cot or something.

Loving it so far. Gets satellite sync much faster than my 610 and being able to sync to my phone via Bluetooth is really handy. Haven't noticed any issue with accuracy, but I haven't taken it out on to any trails or under heavy foliage yet.

Unless you want a touchscreen, the 220 is cheaper and does most stuff the 620 does in a lighter package.

So got the MRI results back. Looks like I've got some bits of loose cartilage floating around in my knee.

Off to see a surgeon now to see if it needs to be cut out.

There goes any sportsball for me for a while

Bad news dude.

New Garmin Connect interface is pretty sweet.

Balls.

Do you a suggestion for a surgeon? A friend is a anaesthetist and knows who's who in the zoo. He'll happily write a referal also.

Thanks, I've already got an appointment with a surgeon who seems to check out pretty well, but if I'm not happy with him I'll shout out!

I've started using Tailwind for my long runs and can highly recommend it. The longest I've done so far is only 2:40, but it's a lot better than forcing down gels. They do a trial pack for not very much too.

What flavours have you tried? Caffeinated raspberry sounds like something that I would enjoy.

If I unlock my 620 in my bedroom (at the front of the house), it's synced by the time I walk out the back door. Pretty fucking impressive, it certainly makes my 610 look like a POS.

Sometimes my 220 takes fucking ages & then drops out. Generally I find that updating the software or charging the battery helps, duh!

I'm holding up pretty well. The race I'm training for has 1600m vertical gain over the 80km, so I don't need to go out of my way to run hills. I'm aiming for sub-8 hours, so 6min/km pace, and that means speedwork isn't really an issue either.

Work is sending me to Germany for training and I get back on September 14, with my race on September 27, so that's not ideal. I'm also doing the Sydney marathon with my GF six days beforehand, so that's also not ideal. I'm pretty psyched all the same.

wow that's pretty hectic to collapse and die after only 14km, wonder if he had any pre-existing conditions...

Seems like he must have been taking it pretty seriously to not run with his partner also? so you would assume he was a regular runner?

Run safe everyone !

Not too sure if anyone else is a giant nerd like me and needs to wear inserts in their shoes, but about a month ago I swapped my shoes from a pair of knackered supra skytops to some Merrell Freewheel Laces (recommended by my podiatrist) and they've made a hell of a difference. Really comfortable, solid shoe, and not too terribad to look at.

I listened to this podcast the other day and it was a bit of a surprise to me.

It's not really talked about too much, but there are a lot of elites who are pushing themselves to the point of heart damage. When you ignore your heart's signs that it needs a break (and it doesn't clearly tell you in the same way that an injured muscle or ligament screams at you), it can't repair itself. Marathoners sustain a lot of scarring and swelling of the heart.

To write each one of these off as a preexisting condition is not entirely sensible. When you add recreational substance use, a stressful job, travel and then a stoic approach to training for intense races, you're asking for trouble.

Even though he wasn't that fast, it doesn't mean he wasn't training & running to the limit of his abilities and adaptation.

I strongly recommend listening to or reading this...

Probably helps that you do the laces up in those.

1.5hrs of olympic lifting training this morning, running training for P2P is coming along nicely.

In all seriousness, what do you guys think is the bare minimum amount of running training required to run the Point to Pinnacle successfully?

You are already 'fit' so its just getting the miles in your legs.

Weekly long run + hill repeats.

Tapout successfully or Eddie successfully? Because if it's the latter, 4 runs between now and November and a shitload of red wine the night before should see you through.
