The lead up to my first 50 miler looks like this:
21/8 - 14/9: In Germany for training for work
17/9 - 19/9: In Brisbane for work
21/9: Sydney Marathon with the GF
22/9 - 24/9: In NZ for work
26/9: Fly to WA for a race start at 4am on 27/9

Not ideal.

well i was going to go to the gym and run, but now I don't want to be a fag, so i've decided on, full skins, boardshorts, singlet, and my wet weather golf jacket (so my iphone keeps dry), plus a beanie (as it's fucking cold)

Will be good to have the coast path to myself again I guess !

I bought a spray jacket for Point to Pinnacle but then I discovered that Bism has one the exact same colour so I've never actually worn it.

Surgery this morning (arthroscopy, chronoplasty and some microfractures) get to spend the next 2 weeks doped up on the couch.

Bad news is the surgeon recommended I never run again because I've down some pretty heavy damage to myself.

How did it happen if you don't mind me asking?

I got banned from joining the Army for life because I fractured my knee once upon a time, but so far all the problems they said I would have, have not surfaced...either way, legs are the worst, I don't have one friend who is active who hasn't had issues with some part of their legs

Not entirely sure how it happened.. Some kind of impact during a soccer game six weeks ago, was fine during the game but once I cooled down afterwards my knee had locked in a bent position and I haven't been able to straighten it since..

Most probable cause is wear and tear from running which has worn away the cartilage in the joint and then an impact during the game has done the major damage and torn it loose.

I broke my ankle on the same leg pretty badly when I was young and it's never had full movement since, so pretty likely that because of that when I run my knee has been taking all the impact to protect the ankle.

Doc said we'll have another look at how it heals from the microfractures but he said it's pretty likely that if I keep running on it I won't have a knee left in 10 years.

Posting for accountability. Going to run this early next year: http://www.sunrun.com.au/

Aiming for sub-50 minutes so I don't have to be in the pleb group for the City2Surf next year. Should piss it in with the rate my fitness is coming back.

Anselm, Astro - Have you seen other physio's at Pure Physio or just Kate?

My leg is derped and it's time to go see someone about it. Turns out they have a 2nd office just around the corner from me. Wondering if I should go there or take the extra hike down to Queens st.

Nice. I like soft flasks because they don't slosh around when they're half full. Bottles are easier to fill on the fly though.

The end, no moral.

The Great Ocean Walk 100 record was broken on the weekend. 9 hours and 8 minutes. That's an average of 5 and a half minute kms for 100kms.

Nope nope nope nope.

One of the girls I ran with yesterday is training for The Alpine Challenge 100 miler.

All of my nope.

I'm still trying to find a 100km run for next year. I was looking at the Canberra CBR 100, but I think I have a wedding that weekend. TNF100 fits, but I'd rather do something new. I'm going to try and get into the 53 km race at UTMB, so I need something in late March through to early June, ideally near Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra.

Easter is no good either, as we've already planned to go to the in-laws' holiday home near Bundaberg. There's a NSW skyrunning event planned though, apparently, so I'm keen for that.
