no, most are shipping without noticeably fault pixels, the overwhelming majority are very happy with their purchase hence the popularity. any 8 bit monitor that doesn't ship pre-calibrated will need calibrating. even factory calibrated monitors like the dells need proper calibrating for critical work.

I checked out a long thread on OCAU. Heaps of links to ebay sellers saying "May have dead pixel. Up to 15 dead pixel ok, no return." Everyone buying from retailers seems to getting good ones though. So you know where not to buy one.

No I'm not, in going to be running it in crossfire with my other 6950, so for less dosh ill get the same performance. To have a noticeable upgrade over that is have to get 7950 or above which would cost me over $400, and then id have a useless 6950 that I took out.

not useless, you could sell it to some other scrub to crossfire with their 6969

the panels themselves are a- grade which means they can have up to 5 affected pixels, with maximum of 1 in the centre and 4 around the perimeter. whether they are stuck/dead/hot/whatever is a gamble, but the majority can't see any issues even when looking for them. some people might get a dodgy pixel or two that shows up on white backgrounds for example. considering there's 3,686,400 pixels, and 3,686,395 or more are guaranteed to be ok, for $300 you can't really complain. particularly because your $5000 LCD TV might have a few dead pixels after a few months and that's not covered by warranty. there has to be more than a few for them to be required to do anything about it.

honestly couldn't think of a situation where I'd want to watch >10mins video on a tablet or fill it up with a load of video. We've already a 55" and 46" tv at home, so I'm not sure what the point would be unless you were stuck on some long shitty public transport journey?

Got a Samsung 40" LED Smart TV, didn't realise it syncs with my Galaxy Nexus quite nicely. Win.
Going to do a bit of foraging and see what else I can do with it.

Need to investigate a bit better as it was an unexpected surprise, but can control it, stream media, and a few other doodads. Seems to be a bit of a 3rd-party scene for it too.

Bought for my XBox and FIFA, so having this extra stuff to derp about is icing on the cake.

Also Marshwah, I have a Project for you. I've owned two Sammies and the only thing that lets them down is the EPG. Constant buffering while channel info loads, utter rubbish. Other makes like LG have all the info there instantly. How is it on the new models?

That used to shit me with my old samsung, just thought it was because it was a budget series 5.

It is. The EPG for my two Sammies loads pretty quickly.
