Sennheiser HD-25 Appreciation String of Cotton, or as we may say, Thread?
Fuck the filter yo.

This thread is pointless cos it's something that we all know, but how good are these? I've consistently said for a long time that my pair of these are my most prized possession. The value of a thing is not always the same as the price of the thing. Best example right here. $250 delivered from Chemical Records on a good day yet worth more to me than my car. I'm not fucking joking either.

Having been free the past couple of days and at the same time buying Ladytron's new album I've been giving mine a thrashing and I can't imagine any other tangible item on Earth giving me more joy. Fantastic, and I don't say that lightly at all. My girlfriend's brother has a top shelf Bose surround sound system and although I appreciate the freedom and depth of the environment, I don't quite think it replicates sound as well as these do. Agree/disagree?

Just how much do you love yours, and when have they provided you with such aural pleasure?

Awesome for making and listenin to tunes, rhythm games on my PSP never sounded so good, and when my new guitar and headphone amp arrives I'll be shredding all over the house in my HD25s.

I disagree. Come on bro, keep ti real, you being a dick. How can they be more valuable than your car? They are only $250! Dang, I'll trade you mine for you car, you in?

And if listening to a CD gives you the most joy on this earth, then you need to get out more!

Princess Superstar's song "fuck me on the dancefloor" was named after the night I spent in her sweaty clubber's clam. It was special. Now I'm just waiting for Uffie to dedicate a song to my love of her manky mut.

Some of you got it, whereas others had to qualify the fact they are in fact smashing a hottie. Well done DJ Fusion, way to read before just posting absolute garbage.

Look up the word "tangible" before posting again, n00bs. Yeah you Rich, you fucking Dubfire fanboy.

Let me tell you right now, I am glad as fuck I got the HD-25s. I like the comfortable, ergonomic simplicity of them.

^^ I used to have a pair of those HDJ-1000s...moving over to the Sennies felt the same as when I upgraded from belt drive decks to 1200s. So so awesome.

i don't like the HD-25's so your thread can kiss my ass

but seriously, headphones and listening to a set of speakers are a compltely different experience. I find you can hear different aspects of the same recording through both a set of headphones and a surround system like the bose. Also you can't really feel the lower frequencies in a set of headphones like you can with a set of speakers and sub

We shouldn't talk about Bose in the same thread as Sennys. There's a reason they make bumper stickers that read "No Highs No Lows Must be Bose" and "Friends Dont Let Friends Buy Bose". Bose is an overpriced, overprocessed, artificially hyped fashion statement. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but keep those kind of comparisons in a Skull Candy thread, not a HD25 thread.

They're good for mixing. For anything else, like playing games, watching a movie, or just listening to music I much prefer my HD595's. They are way more comfortable and they have a way better sound stage.

have to hand it to my pioneer headphones tho, 8 years and they still sound good.

Fuck yeah, they arrived! Was just minding my own business when I get told there is a box at the door for me - I swear I've never jumped so fast haha.

I bought them partly because I could see they were smaller size cans then most, but I wasn't prepared for how small they really are. Perfect for me though, and they certainly pack a punch. The dual headband system is great too, I'm sure it saves from headband hair as well

went to get a replacement cable from DJ warehouse only to find they only have a 3.5m cable with the bigger jack on it. those with the older version would be aware that the cable is only half the length & it came as a mini jack with a bigger jack adaptor.

i much prefer the older shorter cable any idea where i can get that particular replacement cable instead??

(ive previously had headphones with longer cabe & all i use to do was step on it. gave me the shits

I've used quite a few headphones in the past from a large majority of the sony range that DJs locally and interntionally use, pioneer, technics and even some of the other (cheaper) sennheiser models and after using my HD25s for as long as i have, i couldn't go back. I've not found any other pair as comfortable or as clear.

The only ones that came close were the pair i had prior to that, the tehnics 1210 headphones or whatever they were. They were quite comfortable (altho got very uncomfy after long periods of use due to weight), however they carried far more bass than other frequencies.

In the end tho. The best bet is to make judgement for yourself as to what headphones are best, because there is no one brand or model that is going to reign superior over everything else, for every single person.

Every person has different head shapes and sizes and hears frequencies etc in different ways which can alter how they perceive sounds coming out of the cans.

^^ the HD 25s are not just used by DJs, They are the industry standard in the film industry. You see them all the time on like the v8s. So when you need to have it neatly down your shirt so it doesn’t get in the way then to the back of the camera.

Also I don’t know about producing but aren’t those mixing desks fucking massive. Like in studios.

The other day i was on the train took the senns out of my house for the first time because i had to go to a gig after work. There was a guy next to be with the sp. Had them pumping. And I got out mine and the look on his face was funny.

Saves you ripping the mixer off the desk or the cans off your head when you reach for your drink.

3.5 m might be a bit long, but the current one is just a touch too short I think, I'm always scared I'm going to turn around and it's going to pull my mixer, then everything attached to it on the floor. Then the tantrum will follow!

i'm going to order a pair of the HD-25s from Chemical Records (UK) too, within a few days.

couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else.
and AU$ is strong right now.

my reason?
well, they're robust and light. my Sony's had served me well, but broke at the hinges (due to a friend forcefully trying it on his head and breaking the foldaway mechanism)
so, every other headphone that i'd check out, had that swivel-hinge design...practical, in folding it away...but the Achilles heel.

Sure is nice knowing you're not going to drag your gear off the table, but the coil is forever getting caught on the edge of my mixer and ripping the cups further down the headband, making me adjust them every time I move. And the cable is really heavy making one side of the headphones tilt.

agree and disagree with OP. these are great for DJing and i wouldn't swap them for any other pair of headphones for this purpose. they're light, they stick to your head, and produce a superior sound to sony and pioneer competitors... but when it comes to other uses, like gaming, producion, general hi-fi listening to music, or any other reason to have these cans on your head for hours at a time -- they suck because they are uncomfortable.

in these cases, HD280 or ultimately 650 if you have the cash are a better alternative.
