Shur-I-Kan Appreciation Thread
Can this guy put a step wrong lately? I'm pretty shur-he-kan't!

Gripper and his remix of It's Black Pink both out this week are absolutely kicking arse, not to mention tunes like his remix of Basic Melody which is one of the real tunes of the year as far as I'm concerned.

Does anyone have links to any mixes of his? I can't seem to find anything besides his January Promo.

The Shur-I-Kan legend goes back much further - this guy's been on fire for some time (he has periods of activity then kind of drops off the radar), but his latest volleys are especially good.

I saw some mixes for him the other day, pretty sure they were b2b with someone of a similar ilk like Jimpster, Francois Dubois or Milton Jackson.

Haven't come across the b2b mixes you speak of just yet, but it seems he's recently started a monthly podcast!

Think that was like the second track of a mix of yours not too long ago yeah? I remember listening to it on my iPod watching planes take off and land while lying down on one of the comfy lounge things in the new terminal of Charles de Gaulle Airport waiting for a flight earlier this year.

I'm sure I saw it, but maybe I dreamt that he played b2b with Milton Jackson! They've done a few hot tunes together.

Anyway, +1 for the Shur-I-Kan mix of Motorcitysoul's 'Change You'.

We'd definately be interested in hosting him up here in Brisbane!

Guess there's more chance than ever at someone like Jackson pulling the right numbers at the moment

I would love to see Milton Jackson but unless he's tied with an already consistent and successful night I really don't think he'd pull in the crowds by himself.

p.s. when did the Progressive forum become deep house?
I guess the best Progressive house CD of all time IS mostly deep house (see avatar).

yahyahyah. That'd be a hell of a lineup.

Shouldn't this thread be in the house section?

edit: I'd check out milton jackson too!

Golden rule of the prog forum is if Luke Fair or Desyn Masiello's played one of their productions in a set, you're allowed to post here about them.

it is a question though...i never actually venture into the house forumn,

do they post about deep house as well there?

cuase really. i think the prog influence comes from similarity to tech-house, and a lot of producers produce both tech-house and deep prog stuff.

and we all know the dangers of going anywhere near the techno forumn

p.s sur-i-kan, miltonmjackson, jimpster et al fukn awesome. i would put down names like Scope as well (and lets not forget Adam jace, who posts in the prog forum...i.e prog forum is where its at for deep house. case closed)

Yeah the house forum is for stingers who like Roger Sanchez and the occasional thread about when Mark Farina's touring next.

Yeah but posts are automatically twice as awesome when they're made in the prog forum, unless they're about Deadmau5 in which case they're twice as shit.

Oh, and sickest tune:

Joris Voorn - The Deep (Jimpster Remix) [Green]

I doubt you'd find too many people in any of the house, prog or techno forums who don't think this an absolute bomb.

yeah. i think 'the deep' is pretty universal. It doesn't take too well to pitching it up more than +3 though, which makes it less useful in a prog/techno set.

plenty of deep house talk in the house forum. Hell - you might even find you like it in there. There is plenty of gay shit that gets thrown around there though... only so much NY house I can stand.

^^ Yeah true. There is plenty of stuff that i don't like that gets thrown around here too. You just have to take what you like and leave the rest. I consider myself quite the forum slut. You can find me dipping my knob in all the ITM pies.

Bumping for blatant fanboyism.

Three unreleased remixes of his at the end of his December podcast, pretty cool tunes but none that stands out as brilliant.

More outstanding work as far as actual releases are concerned, with two big winners out in the past couple of months. I'm loving the smooth basslines, syncopation and little touches in Jingle Jangle, while even better is his remix of Do It Like This which exemplifies lush, groovy, melodic house.

I like this guy a lot, but the vocal in Fantasy has to be one of the worst, lamest, and downright gay (sorry, it really is) I've ever heard.
