I should read my Darkbeat messages more diligently, I completely missed that news as I only got to the Fortier and Magik Johnson sets from the other weekend and didn't read any further

Awesome news. Fingers crossed for a Sydney gig - that would be a huge tick against someone I've wanted to see for ages

You've got to love Darkbeat. !!

Btw. I'm listening to that Chris Fortier mix now. It is a bloody ripper ! It was the best i have ever heard from him. Covers multiple genres, far more accessible than anything i have heard from him before.

It was melodic with plenty of colourful rainbow goodness. First hour was around 124bpm, pitched up nu/cosmic disco, had quite an old school house feel in places. The second hour brought out the new WoW tunes and he brought it back a bit near the end. I think there was around an hour's worth of music in the middle which saw everyone on the dancefloor with constant smiles on their faces. I haven't danced that much in a while!

Oh hooray hooray hooray! It's been too long since I've been to a good gig. I'm so psyched for this.

I've already started rearranging my diary as I'm feeling a Monday sick day coming on.

Jody was so freakin' good on Saturday night. Best set I've heard in years.

I can't remember anything he played - all I remember is having my hands in the air and a smile on my face for hours. Everything Cosmo Crater said was true. What a masterful, joyful set.

Now, when's he coming back out again? New Years anyone?

Sydney was lacking nice melodic funky house for so long until Jody played and damn it was a bloody good set!
the Cave was rammed from start to finish, with arms up in the air and the whole crowd applauding him when he finished.
was marvellous.

^^ all of this is so heartening to hear. It has really restored my faith in people liking that sound - especially in Brisbane, where the "scuba mafia" heap so much shit on it. It makes people smile and dance like crazy, I'd say it's a pretty winning formula!

The best part was that the Cave wasn't overly rammed... ala Nick Warren. A perfect amount of people, all thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Late acknowledgement of a stellar night. Credit where credit is due, I thought the Laundry got it absolutely spot on. I’m not sure what the driver was as I can’t say I paid particular attention to whether they were turning people away in an attempt to deliver what the punters have literally been screaming for, if so, well done.

As for Jody - WOW! (LOL, no pun intended) Like most of us in this section of the forum I revere all things exceptional about electronic music, you all would have read me go on about programming, mixing and sampling post in post out, given the reaction in this thread and the others in the various local forums he dished it out in spades at every gig.

For me, just as one could argue that Digweed’s the pioneer of that perfect balance between tech & prog (IMHO) that’s been burning holes through dance floors over the last 5 years, I’d go as far as to say that its Jody who pushed the virtues of that uplifting, light, nu-disco prog the likes of Dana & Add2Basket are now delivering…and for that I give him maddest of props!

But above & beyond all of that I don’t think I have ever seen an international with a better disposition behind the decks. The gushing acknowledgement the prog tragics of Sydney were heaping on him was consistently met with smile after appreciate smile. If ever there was a quality that needed to be bottled up and spread around it is this. For me it’s what transforms the exceptional into the intimate, and it’s been that intimacy that’s been so sorely lacking over the last few years for me.

Lastly, it was great to meet wanna3q & turkman! Word lads!

It's like the perfect tune... as your brain is hearing it, thinking "fuck it'd be great if there was a bit of a build-up next" or "how good would some extra percussion sound right now!"... lo and behold, it happens! Primo tune, just an all-round ear-pleaser
