I didn't realise that breakbeat in it was actually a four to the floor beat.

yeah its quite terrible, most of the hard trance i spin is from 2002-2006. there is really not a lot of decent new stuff being made, although if you search hard enough you can find it. stuff that ive liked in the past year or so have been:

Log:One & DJ Wragg - Creatures
Uberdruck - Computer Games (Mass In Orbit Remix)
A*S*Y*S - Cheers
Kamui - Electro Slut
Lengo - Life In X
Joop - 3008 (SHOKK Remix)
Alex Kidd & Kidd Kaos - Kiddstock Theme (ASYS Remix)
Walt Jennsen - Walt Mart

some of the old producers are bringing back the old sound, but most have gone on to tech trance sort of stuff which is really sad

got decks around 99 started collecting trance but soon discovered funky house via early bassment jaxx then saw carl cox 2000 BDO realized that techno was my thing
so most styles of house and techno leaning towards the more tribal percussive stuff with a lot of jazzy and latin influences but i love most styles of electronic music . trance and hard house circa 99 are not my thing these days but its what got me in to dance music so i respect other peoples taste in these styles

House at the moment
tribal experience - jesse garcia presents tribal spiain vol 2 - jesse garcia tribal spain remix .... awesome sax
grand saxo...doc phatt's club ibiza edit....
sambannova by pnau one of the best house records ever made

tech ... biz get looose
stella ..boriqua tribez
andre's saag ... latin lesson
anything by dave clarke

ghetto.... ass n titties dj assultt[signed copy ]
.... starski & cluctch ... bell isle players

i only play the occoasional party so i mainly play house with a dash of funk if i have a gig depends on the crowd i like to start with mellow jazzy stuff then work it through to some commercial stuff then some funky techy stuff by the end of the night

i long for the days when expansion was fresh... actually i was at transmission last year and jowan dropped it, and it got the biggest reaction, absoutely huge...

walt's later stuff is, well, lacking to say the least. on waltmart/waltsrteet it sounds like he's tried to regain the absolutely massive kick from let the music play and recycle it. luscious kick (and bass reverb), but he shouldnt have messed with it. this in particular mention to waltmart... cmon man, is it hardtrance or hardstyle? he's fuckin confused man, he should stick to what he's good at - bangin hard trance. leave shitty kicks to showtek...

i shouldnt be posting when this drunk - apologies!

Angel Freq - Nothing at all (Jamie's vocal mix) is seriously fucking awesome. I wouldn't call it light trance though. It's more tech-prog than trance. It's too stripped back to be trance, no sweeping build ups and such. Imo anyway.

thats the problem with my music sorting system, my 'genres' are condensed into song type (ie Trance = synthetic, wet, Prog House = synthetic, dry, etc) and then 'sub genre' is how the song sounds/feels (Nothing at All = 'Light Uplifting' = Non-climatic feel good). Fucks up talking about track genres. Makes it so much easier to mix a set tho

I've always loved classic and US House, like alot of stuff from Defected, but the last year or so i've really been into the deep/tech/prog sound. I love anything warm, techy, deep and melodic. Freerange and Urbantorque are labels that sum up the deep and tech house sounds i like. I'm guessing nights like Sunday School and Colour in Sydney would be right up my alley. Pity there's nothing like that in Adelaide

Funky
DJ Gomi - Glad I found you (Scot Wozniak rmx)
Ralph Gum ft. Monique Bingham - Kissing Strangers

Deep
Afterlife - Let it go (Charles Webster rmx)
Akabu - I'm not afraid of the future (Jimpster rmx)

Prog
Miss Nine - Nevertheless (Eelke Kleijn rmx)
Kosmas Epsilon - Soho

Tech House
Milton Jackson & Sei A - Glasgow Kiss (Jim Rivers rmx)
Steve Mill - Lets Go Higher

Techno
Gui Boratto - Haute Couture
Robert Babicz - Dark Flower (Joris Voorn rmx)

Ok we're both right.

The total 9 has it mislabeled. Haute Cauture is the one you're thinking of.

What the fuck Kompakt, get it right.

I'm too lazy to define my own songs so I just go with whatever Beatport says they are.

The genres I'm mainly into, with some examples:

Progressive House
Pryda - Europa
Roland Klinkenberg - Dusty Horizon (Max Graham Club Mix)
Andy Duguid - Wasted ft. Leah

Tech House
Yvel & Tristan - Panama ft. Chriss Of The Quasar
Booka Shade - Charlotte (Booka's No Pain No Gain Mix)
Patric La Funk - Restless (Tim Weeks Remix)

Techno
Paolo Mojo - Nightlaw
Gui Boratto - Tales From The Lab (Dirty Disco Remix by Axel Bartsch)
Robert Babicz - Dark Flower (Joris Voorn Magnolia Mix)

Trance
Envio - For You (The Blizzard Remix)
DJ Orkidea - Metaverse (Gareth Emery Remix)
Sean Tyas Presents Logistic - One More Night Out

Hard Trance

Thomas Rubin - Cold Night (DJ Scot Project Remix)

Hardcore
Neophyte & Evil Activities - Alles Kapot
Endymion - Payback

Alles Kapot, really? Do you know what that means in English? My point being that the song should have little relevance outside Holland. Payback is ok though. Glad someone likes hardcore!

You said creatures too lol.
Agreed Tech trance, feels pretty uneventful, like going a big unessisary step sideways. I had a promo cd of a guy who played tech trance at hard kany 9th birthday i think, but 90% of his music was like remixs of commercial house like toca me and silence and that didn't bring anything new to the table imo.

Drum and Bass, everytime i think im getting bored with the genre, someone will release something completely different and blow me away again

Two tracks im diggin at the moment

-Sigma - Music Box Remix, a timeless tune with beautiful melodies (ala, a music box), remixed from jungle into drum and bass by one of the genre's hottest up n' coming producers

- Anything released or remixed by DJ Marky/Bungle, his tunes have such a happy jazzy vibe that suits summertime almost too well (tune like LK, Back Like that, Snow Patrol Remix etc)

Ahh shit.......also have to include LTJ Bukem - Atlantis , an absolute classic, true "intelligent" dnb, makes the crowd go wild every time it drops, unfortunately I think the price today for a plate 2nd hand is about 50 pounds !

I play drunk slut music which is anything that will get the hot ladies on the dancefloor. That could be anything from 80's hip hop through to the cheesiest twenty-ten MOS tunes, from house parties through to clubs.

Unfortunately when I play out - I rarely get to play exactly what I want, but I don't care because I get just as much enjoyment seeing other people enjoy what I play, as much as I do when I play what I want.

Some favorites are:

The Electro (House) Vibe (I like an interesting, funky and dynamic bassline if it is electro not just banging):
Grafton Primary - I Can Cook (Miami Horror Remix)
Chromeo - Needy Girl (Lifelike Remix)
Aston Shuffle - Stomp Yo Shoes (Shazam Remix)
PNAU - Embrace (Miami Horror & Fred Falke remix)
Das Pop - Underground (Van She Tech)

The Jackin' Vibe:
Yogi and Husky - It Feel's Alright (Miguel Migs Petalpusher Rework)
Jay West - Drink and Dance (Giom Remix)
White Lotus Society - Fuck Party (Back Door Dub)
Smart Dog - Dancing Moves (Giom Remix)
Random Soul - Bodies Movin' (Chuck Love's Golden Century Dub)

The (House Party) Hip Hop Vibe:
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Boom Shake the Room
Easy E - We Want Eazy
Warren G & Nate Dogg - Regulate
Skee Lo - I Wish
NWA - Players Club
Lupe Fiasco - Kick Push
Beastie Boys - Brass Monkey
Run DMC - Bust a move

Old School / Funk / Random:
Kool and the Gang - Get down on it (This line possibly my favorite vocal melody of all time - 'How you gonna do it if you really don't want to dance etc')
Earth, Wind and Fire - Jungle Boogy
Jackson 5 - ABC
James Brown - Sex Machine
KC & The Sunshine Band - Shake Your Booty
Rolf Harris - Jake the Peg (I dono, I play it every now and then as a random song and it needs to go somewhere)
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
Prince - 1999
Prince - I wanna be your lover
Yothu Yindi - Treaty
Black Lace - Agadoo
Monkey Magic Theme

All in all; the ultimate genre is Music and everyone should love it or leave the planet.

good to see people are a little more open minded these days.

I mainly play a lot of that odd sorta

Feltham - Duke Dumont

That track is freakin bangin. I love it, especially the high pitched voicy thing which I guess is sorta going towards the whole fidget genre.

jesse rose...mad dude.

oh and other good one, 'Electric Dyslexic - Scratche' such a funky song. It's got that whole fast paced 'Bowchica wow wow' sound to it. If you haven't heard it, listen to it and you'll know what I mean by "bow chica wow wow"

I don't hate trance, it is just the arsehole of dance music.
