Pinksilver Podcast 14: V-Sexion & Ntanos

V-Sexion & Ntanos, together also known as Effections, are a promising duo from Athens, Greece, that will initiate you to the depths of house & back.

Effections met in 2004 & started spinning records in 2006 playing alongside internationally known DJ�s such as Gaiser, Ekkohaus & Daso, to name a few. Deeply influenced by Jazz and Funk, they began combining these classic elements by embracing Techno and the more minimal sounds of House music together with rolling percussions, deep basslines and looped, sensual vocals. 2008 was a hard-working year with their debt remix & EP release on Spanish netlabel Flumo followed by a digital release on Chicago-based label Siteholder Uncut.

Individually, V. Sexion released his debut EP on Safari Electronique (U.K) and also signed material on labels such as Catwash Records (France), Diaphan Records (Germany), Time Has Changed (France), Suchtreflex (Germany), Percusa (Germany) and the Athens-based label Rythmetic while Ntanos has offered his tech-house sound to Rhythmetic & Flumo.

Effections are absolutely enjoying working hard to develop their mutual sound and to tease clubs with their upcoming live sets. They are now part of Flumo Booking agency & proudly release their debt offering with Pinksilver Digital in the form of the �Fault Day� EP.

Their podcast mix for Pinksilver brings you the sultriest & low slung grooves that touch on the techier elements of deep house.

Rising Italian DJ and producer Massi Gee, member of the Gallery Crew and resident DJ at the Gallery Parties in Ancona debts on Pinksilver Digital with �Tales from the Underground� EP.

The EP is a mixture of tech-house grooves balanced by the Latin rhythms of Felipe Venegas and the Gallic arrangements of Eric Brandy on the remix duties.

The opening track �3rd Eye� showcases Massi�s rolling drum rhythms and bass sounds together with his orchestrated hooks, a sound that he is distinctly shaping as his own as evidenced by his previous release on Highgrade Digital.

Eric Brandy�s remix of 3rd Eye is a completely unique and creative take on the original. Known for his intricate drum patterns that was part of his musical education as a member of percussive groups together with Congolese drummers & dancers in Le Havre, he takes the main hook from the original and stamps his own signature on the remix.

�Forgotten Worlds� will draw you in to its grip from the moment you hear the Hells Bell, pulling you in to its hypnotic groove. Just as you try to escape, the xylophonic hook creeps in to the mix and you give in to the sound, letting the track take you over as dark tones, edgy sweeps and disturbing stabs cut and slice their way through the track.

We loved Eric's remix of �3rd Eye� so much we called him up for an encore to remake �Forgotten Worlds�. Eric takes it to another level again with his elaborate programming and arrangement coupled with deep melodies. Multi layered drum patterns give the track an organic feel while the sub-bassline's and subtle pads weave their way in and out creating a deep hypnotic electronic masterpiece.

Chilean son Felipe Venegas adds his own flavour to the EP with the sounds that attracted Pinksilver to release his first EP on our Netlabel imprint in 2007. Since then Felipe has gone from strength to strength with records on Immigrant and Luciano's Cadenza label in 2009. In this remix Felipe goes back to his roots combining Latin percussion, droning vocal stabs and that ever recognisable classic Chilean minimalism.

Massi Gee is a DJ and producer from Ancona, Italy, member of the Gallery Crew and resident DJ at Gallery Parties.

Massi began his career working for a music distribution company called DeeJayMix where he looked after all the electronic and Drum N Bass releases.

His DJ roots began in the Drum n Bass scene and while working at DeeJayMix he began to DJ in Italy & Europe, at the same time creating one of the most important Drum n Bass collectives in Italy known as Hydra (HDR).

In 2008 he started becoming immersed in the Techno scene and began making his own music and special collaborations with Manuel De Lorenzi (8Bit, Immigrant & Highgrade), Giammaria (MonsteRecords & Electronic Pets) and Filippo Del Moro (DMF, Dirty Boots & Highgrade), with his first solo release coming in 2009 on Berlin-based label Highgrade Digital.

His second release on Melbourne-based label Pinksilver Digital is entitled �Tales from the Underground�.

Strapping on the gloves for Pinksilver Ltd�s second release is the heavy weight artisan Argenis Brito. This Venezuelan native has spent many years in the electronic dance arena and is in no need of introduction to the discerning listeners of avant-garde house & techno.

In this performance we really get to meet the darker side of the very talented Argenis Brito with remix duties by Forty6&Two.

Round 1: Starts off with a fearsome right hook in �The Switch'. This straight-up no-nonsense groove and intricate drops will have you back peddling the whole round. There is no avoiding the spooky nature of this track. A message from the Ringmaster "Bring your mouth guard!�.
Round 2: Gets you straight back into the action with the fun, funky but naughty composition of �Sub Vicious'. No foul punches here, it is all above the belt and legal. From the driving groove, metallic sundries and the interloping vocals �Sub Vicious� displays Argenis� mastery of electronic funk.
Round 3: The gloves are off! Forty6&Two's �Limping Home Mix' of �Sub Vicious' will have you doing just that. This deep, low-slung barefaced Tech House groover will have the punters bouncing off the ropes.

Continuing Pinksilver’s love affair with some of Italy’s most talented producers, the seventh release on Pinksilver Digital features a heavyweight production combination from the beautiful island of Sardinia.

Joining forces are Renato Figoli & Alessio Mereu with a devastating two-track EP that’s as powerful as it is proficient.

Renato has been producing & releasing music since 2003 on established labels such as LoFi Stereo, Ware, Gumption Records, Trapez & Claque Music, in addition to starting his own label TantoQuanto in 2008.

Alessio has began producing music in 2006 and since then he has released on a cavalcade of all-star labels such as Cocoon, CMYK, Tuning Spork, Contexterrior, Analytic Trail, Toys For Boys & True Type Tracks, also having founded his own labels in Renovatio Records in 2008 & T-Bet in 2009.

Their release on Pinksilver Digital is a heavy-laden bass & groove exercise in dancefloor dynamics. The title track ‘Diagonal’ features the signature keys of Renato, tried and tested on his many live sets throughout Europe including Panoramabar & Cocoon’s “Green & Blue” festival in front of more than 10,000 party goers.

Many years ago Trinity made the trek down south to dj in the techno capital of Australia, Melbourne. Playing at one of Melbourne's techno institutions right after Pinksilver duo Forty6&Two, she was given a cd from the Pinksilver lads containing their catalogue of music to ponder over. Trinity was profoundly moved by the tracks on that cd, inspiring her to hook up with local producer 'J' to create Trinity & Beyond. We welcome them again to the Pinksilver family.

Following in the same vein as their release 'Beyond Musique' on Pinksilver Net earlier this year, Trinity & Beyond's 'Gone Fission' uses beautiful flowing atmospherics throughout it's length. Melodic overtones give the track warmth and fullness that would suit an early-night set, evoking positive energy in any space.

Folds of echoing stabs blanket over the reductive rhythm of 'Melville Lane' Giving the track more sense of momentum and purpose to its sister track, 'Gone Fission'. Deep chords and bit crushing overtones dominate the entirety of the track placing you in a world of lost souls trying to find one another, we are hoping it has found a place in yours.

Deepchild takes Gone Fission and drenches it in warm, atmospheric chords that bounce and slice through the track, giving it a deep and sultry sound. Dark, bit-crushed stabs pierce their way in and out like a broken transmission, possibly sending a message from the depths of space. Melodic pads and intricate percussion play with the flirting low end bass line, giving the track a great sense of balance and familiarity.

A new lease, a new direction, a new life. Markojux incorporates his many influences from Electronica, Dubstep and Minimal Techno in his interpretation of 'Gone Fission'. Images of a virgin world being constructed conjure up in ones mind listening to the raspy snares smash their way through the intricate, flickering beats. Delicate, luscious pads sweep in and out of the harsh sounds while the twisted, morphing bass plays with the heavy kick drums. A new world is born.

Pinksilver welcomes long-time associate Lorenzo with his first release on our Netlabel imprint, showcasing his crisp & steely techno rhythms on the “Zyon Atmosphere” EP.

Originally hailing from the UK and now finding Melbourne, Australia home, his love for quality sound systems is reflected in his search for depth, momentum & sub-bass in his productions.

The title track ‘Zyon Atmosphere’ encompasses these elements rather swimmingly, moving in & out of industrial soundscapes as he paints a bleak future with his arrangements.

‘Density’ continues the industrial feel of the EP with sounds and arrangements suited to the inner walls of the old Tresor bunker, or perhaps the surroundings of today’s current day techno mecca, Berghain.

The final track ‘Pathfinder’ rounds off Lorenzo’s first release on Pinksilver properly, with the steely rhythms being complimented with strings that provide the listener hope amongst the unrelenting grooves.

This release is not for the faint hearted. Get your cold, hard groove on.
