Pretty good set. Though why is it that every song that grabs my attention and makes me look at the tracklist is one of the few not ID'd?

A few of the IDs sound like new Holden tracks, His site says he's finishing off a bunch at the mo. e.g. the last one is class Holden.

Sure, there's lots of loose types, but Holden is in a class all of his own. He's like the epitome of a 60's rock star: middle class; over-educated; vague; uncommunicative; pale; agoraphobic; malnourished; perennially stoned...

How'd I miss this one?!!

Epic!

And what a treat to stumble onto Cosmic Baby's Space Track released way back 17 years ago (or 10 years when this EM was done).

Timeless!

Will get to the OP's mixes shortly...

Part 1, 41:00 = Santiago Salazar - Arcade (Original Mix) [Macro Recordings]

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/.../170183/Arcade

Top track!

tour, I would go as far as suggesting that you (and anyone else for that matter) check out everything Santiago does. As a DJ he has a great style somewhere between house and melodic techno (captured quite well by the track). There are some sets (page 3 o 4) of the mnml ssgs thread in the techno forum.

Edit: this is one of the best James Holden sets that I have heard (probably the best). The first half captures that expiramental 'Border Community style' but retains its danceability (which is less than can be said about some of his previous mixes which, while I found them interesting enough, were not something that would really get the body moving). Not one train wreck yet either.

Edit: Can someone please ID the two tracks at 100 and 103? It is the same as the opening to that incredible Josh Wink Hardwired set.

This set is brilliant.

It is everything that is good about Holden - with virtually nothing bad (some dodgy mixing aside). It is an emotional journey over 4 hours of exceptional music.

I am only listenng to it now because I really enjoy Fake's Hard Island and though that it was time to give Holden another go (after tearing new assholes for 2005 - 2006, his sets 2007 - 2008 were average at best).

It is sets like this one that have given Holden the reputation he has amongst his loyal followers (of which I am one again).

James Holden Live @ NeoPop, Portugal 13.08.09
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G9LLI7CT

Was recently introduced to this set...must say I was impressed.

Previously all I knew of him was Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (James Holden Remix) and Andre Kraml - Safari (James Holden Remix) which I've always liked...

Australia tour soon please

Listening to it now for first time. +1

Yes, I am disgusted in myself. Just haven't been around these parts of late. Glad someone bumped the thread back up.

I just ignored it when it was first posted because there is always so much to listen to and for me Holden had lost it. I also only recently got Hard Islands.

Just as I was thinking about some Holden someone bumped this thread.

It was a sign from above

Top track!

tour, I would go as far as suggesting that you (and anyone else for that matter) check out everything Santiago does.

Cheers, mate that has made my day.

Just checked... it is on sale at beatport (along with a ton of other tracks).

I'm still working on the acquisition of Holden's Balance but there are other very good reasons for rating Holden so highly (on top of 'The Idiots are Winning', other production and his 2002 EM):

MFA wrote "Throw It Back" 3 years ago! Thats an insanely long time to wait for release. That kiss mix looks really cool, going to grab both thansk for putting them up.

Also, that Holden Dub of 'Darkest Star' is significantly underrated.

From the perspective of someone with his 'Holden love and bias' cap back on, Holden could be the answer to GUs problems (or at least the perceived problems that most of us around here think GU has - completely stagnate main release series which is in needs fresh blood).

He has the profile, and could just put together another classic mix CD.
