Never heard of it, I doubt it would run well on my PC.

Defence Grid on the other hand, it's some seriously slick TD! Looks and runs sweet on my craptop, I'll definitely get the full game.

yeah i preordered it. have only had the time to play it for about 30 mins so far but it seems pretty cool. The hand to hand fighting is fun. way more controls than dark messiah etc

Defense Grid looks pretty sweet, and for $5 you can't go wrong.

O snap, I've only played TD maps on WC3 and SC.
Those graphics are just a little better, will grab it when I get home.

I bought it, $5 for my first Steam game and it's sick. Love how it mixes set-path maps with custom-path maps and the graphics suit it perfectly.

Aye, cool trailer, and I've been playin this the last couple of hours and it's definitely sick. Some awesome character design too which is something I don't usually care about in TD games.

I'm always playing those free flash Tower Defense games on the net, so this sounds perfect. I haven't been downloading any games from Steam just because of my old crappy PC. Only thing so far has been Track Mania.

Defence Grid reminds me of those towers from Red Alert 2.

Mirror's Edge is down to 20 bucks according to Neogaf? Doesn't seem to show up in the store when going through an internet browser yet though.

Is that the weekend deal?

Still showing up as $50 for me, I would definately buy it for $20.

I'd actually be pretty surprised if EA dropped the price that low.

I dunno. Ther neogaf guys are talking as if that's the price right now and it's not going to be the weekend deal ie a permanent price drop. Maybe it hasn't flowed through to the Aussie store yet? But it wouldn't suprise me. That's the price of Bioshock on steam right now (which I also really need to get).

edit - played this until late last night, such a sick TD game. Having to police the cores is such a small twist on TD but makes such a huge gameplay difference, it can get pretty stressful seeing dying mobs passing off orbs like footballs and seeing them inch closer and closer to the exit, or when all the orbs are in play at once. Anyone who isn't playing this gem for $5 should have to face the wrath of Billy Zane.

Yep. I'm addicted. Glad your joining the ITM group, because right now my friends leaderboard only has one other person to compare with.

I'm downloading the Defence Grid demo now so it'll be at home when I get there. If I like it I'll probably buy it.

Downloaded Defense Grid.
So far pretty easy, but I can see it has some great potential. I thought it was a boring 'on-rails' TD, but it quickly advanced to mazing. Zooming in for the pew pew sounds is pretty hilarious.

Alt tabbed to forums from getting my dick chewed off on the 3rd to last level, funny you should mention it.
I've mazed the longest possible path, but my build order is letting me down once my maze is built arghhhhhhhhhhhh.

Just beat that level without a single leak, after about 5 million mazes I realise that upgrading > mazing in this game.
Only built ~10 towers and raped it.

I beat it last night losing 8 cores, but yeah I realised I could probably do it better when I come back to it by working on upgrades much earlier. The level is way too spread out with too many different paths to make mazing effective.

Great game.

Wish there was a multiplayer / co-op aspect to it though, like a lot of TD games in warcraft.

Need to finish this mofo tonight so I can move onto Half Life 2: Episode 1 before the weekend deal hits again and tempts me away from my current backlog like the sexy seductress steam is.

Beat the next level the same way.

Just finished the last level.
With my starting money I built enough to reroute one of the paths so they'd double back passed my main turrets.
Then just upgraded everything, then once everything was red I'd expand to a new pad and upgrade.
And I build about 4 meteors pretty early on, and 2 missiles for air.

Pretty awesome game, will try the grind mode next.

I just discovered a new combo which tears shit up (especially large groups of enemies). Red concussion tower + slow tower. More grenade spam than a Call of Duty game.

Assasains Creed 10 bucks.

I remember playing this game a few years ago after picking it up cheap from EB. Fun, from what I can remember. Will have to refresh myself.

For $6-7 for the Freedom Force + Third Reich pack, then it's a safe gamble.
