Coming from pdx2000's think ill miss +/- 16%. Most reviews seem to think its a pretty big change along with a better tonearm. Please take your pathetic thread derail somewhere else.

i will admit they are sexy decks and all, but damn that is alot of money for something that really isn't all that special technically.

especially considering they will be sitting in a home studio.

I am in the same boat.........i've got an all black setup and my decks actually recess into my desk
Looking at new TT's and the G's stand out as a winner because of the very eye pleasing nature of them dropped into my desk.
But its a lot of extra $$$ just to look pretty.

I never ptich things over 6 or 7% absolute max on a TT, so i highly doubt the extra range will come in handy

^^ considering the above you should just mod out a pair of 1210's with the fancy lights and your sorted.

What's the best model of technics to get at the moment.

I want to upgrade when I can afford it and the different versions pack different price punches :/

oh... of technics?

i reckon probably just the ordinary old 1200/1210 mk2s. they're sturdy as fuck, the industry standard, and can be had for peanuts these days for some reason.

i think the mk2's are the most reliable plus if you need parts for them (new tonearms etc) they are very easy (and cheap) to source.

I'd love a pair of m5gs but can't justify the cost when my old 1200 mk2 work just fine, the pitch is alittle out but it's a bit meh for me

I cant see the point of if you want to go the "standard" route why you would get the model that isnt the standard

They are pretty much standard
Don't use the increased pitch, apart from that and looks, everything is the same
Torque etc etc

Lets face it though, all TT's are pretty much standard, they function in same way....if you can't jump from brand to brand, you've got some issues

is true.

though i do wonder how much the massive amounts of torque on the top of the line stantons would effect scratching/mixing if you were used to 1200s? and vice versa too..

But if your not going to use the +-16 then why go for the g's

Yes you should be able to use any turntable but at the same time if fucking hate mixing not on 1200s mainly because if there is a problem. needle skipping or something I can usually fix it on 1200/know what to check for which could be causing it

Not much effect at all.

You are releasing the records at the same speed. Just like when you drop a record on beat.

is it easier to hold the beats in time with a higher torque motor, say a top of the line stanton?

i find it harder to tell you the truth, i think it may be cause im so used to my 1200's but the last time i used some TTX's (i think thats what they were, they had some epic torque) it took me a song or two to get the hang of them, but after that it was smooth sailing.
