in 1984, grandmaster flash was quite popular, a mix of his (adventures of grandmaster flash on the wheels of steel) was the first dj mix ever released for public sale

now whilst you write off his comment on the timeline of coolness you completely failed to address the very valid and accurate point made about the increase in popularity of DJing ... accessibility.

That question of yours has been answered.

i'm not a DnB DJ by the way ...

Now boys and girls, here's today's pop quiz on the history of DJing ... identify the man on the left and his place in DJ culture

wookie nipple, of all the 'unique charms' you've had on display for us, perhaps the craft of trawling people's myspaces etc. with the express intent of character assassination would be the most awesome. And by awesome I mean seriously fucked. I'm the first flag-bearer in line to poke shit at the hardstyle munters but at least the dude's doing something. Something that we know he's doing. Even if the guy was on the sex offenders list his resume would be more noteworthy than yours at this stage.

Essentially your word is worth about as much as the anonymous voice which informs us that 'your call is important to us'. It's there, it sorta has to be listened to, though let's equate the ignore button with pulling the phone away from one's ear, and overall it's just rehashed crap put there for the sake of filling the void.

If you must be incognito then so be it, but you'd want to have some serious conversational form at the table to fill that void. Feel free to step up to the plate any time.

And let's NOT even allude to any kind of violence irl. mmk? From anyone. That's just piss fucking poor on so many levels.

My money is on our caped crusader being a trance DJ at The Beat who feels threatened by the younger DJs who are coming through. I'm aware of DJ history, however I don't find it particularly enthralling.

I actually find it really interesting and read or watch as much as possible, but I just don't believe it is nessesary to know in order to be a good/great DJ.

The way the wookie speaks also leads me to believe he is threatened by a younger generation. But what really staggers me is that he thinks where you DJ has some bearing on how good you are. If you know your DJ history you will know that the person who in my opinion was/is the most influential DJ of all time played at parties in his own home.....

If your sense of self worth relates to which club you play I feel truly sorry.

I canít agree more, I love the history whether itís equipment or DJ related but it doesnít influence how I play my gigs so I canít see how it is relative to how good a DJ I am.
Actually as I am a huge supported of the ďnever plan a setĒ theory I would like to think nothing other than the Manager/Promoter in charge & the Punters influences my sets!

Yeah Iím with you there, if CD players havenít made our lives boring enough, adding pre-planned sets to the night and Iíll fall asleep in minutes!!

I think there is a nervous tension in every good DJ that keeps you questioning every track choice, this is what makes a good DJ, and it has nothing to do with mixing skill in my opinion!
Mind you mixing gives us something to do while waiting for the track to play out!

I've never planned a set and that goes for demos too, i always do all of my mixing as a 'play it by ear' basis.

I'll rock up at a club and decide what i'm going to play for my opening track based on what the previous dj is playing over the last song/songs i hear from them prior to me taking over or if i'm opening then its just a matter of flipping through my record box or cd wallet till i find a track that suits my mood and i run with it from there.

I find if nothing more, i have more fun and find it more of a challenge when doing it like that as it creates an element of surprise for both yourself and punters.

1) successful troll has been f_ucking successful
2) Stop feeding the troll by trying to justify and validate yourself to him, you are giving him what he wants

3) Nipple appears to be the creature that spawned when funkedubs jizz was allowed to ferment on an old piece of vinyl

beep beep bop bop blah blah blah.. sticks and stones may brake my bones but names will never hurt me... did you guys actually finish school? here's a little comprehension test.. find in my comments where ive said knowing the history of dj/edm will make you a better dj!? clearly your all just jaded, frustrated and upset with yourselves. you keep blabbing on about things that i havent actually said, and then there are the join-ins who jump on the bandwagon. youll notice that the first page, some people have actually answered the original question however the guys who have coincidentally posted about 100,000 other comments between them have arched up tried to start an little internet squabble, funny how in all the other tiffs the same guys are involved.

the guy who stated he didnt care about the history... douche. lets take djing out of the picture completely, if thats your attitude to all the others things your inerested in.. good luck to you. clearly your intellect is that of a snail. if everyone had an attitude like you we would just stand around scratching how heads wondering why our arses stink.
