So I0 spied this in the fridge at the pub tonight - spurred on by the bar staff and this thread I decided to give it a bash.

Yhe fact that the bar staff were recommending the 'strawberry lime cider' had me wondering if I was about to be the brunt of a practical joke, but to my surprise - it is a very, very drinkable cider. Not really the best colder weather drink, but interesting all the same. Extremely strong nose of strawberry (not strawberry essence) quite sweet (could be a touch more tart for mine) and a decent finish - Definitely worth trying a bottle.

Currently drinking a bottle of the rekorderlig pear cider at the moment.

yeah its nice, but I couldn't see myself drinking more than a bottle given the sweetness

Seriously, apple juice fresh off the press from an orchard is $1.40/L. Fill a sanitized 25L drum of it, throw in a good quality cider yeast, a packet of yeast nutrient, a couple of sticks of cinnamon, sit it @ 16C for two weeks then keg or bottle and it'll be better than any cider you can get at dan murphy's for the price of two six packs.

I was drinking scrumpy pressed from home grown apples on the weekend.

No, my point is that there is a good reason why people buy commercially produced cider. Drinking at the pub is the main one for me, the convienience of the bottle shop is another.

And my point is that most pubs think that serving 5 Seeds and Strongbow is perfectly acceptable for a “cider range”
