The Electric Deluxe Label/Podcast Thread
The Electric Deluxe Podcast

Just found this today whilst looking for some Tommy Four Seven mixes.

So far there's two podcasts out. One from the label owner, Speedy J, and another from Tommy Four Seven.

This could be another promising podcast series.

A bit of info on Tommy's offering:

Quote:

The concept was not to play straight up techno but to share music I listen to outside of the club and records that inspire me.

This might as well be a place for any music discussion relating to the label too. Their latest release 'Surma' by Tommy Four Seven is a fantastic release. The original & Speedy J's Dub Tool are both mad tracks.

I imagine that it would be very similar to CLR, which is a very good thing.

By the way, you haven't listened to T47's CLR 032 have you? I cannot stress how good it is.

I simply refuse to believe that I am the only person in this forum that rate it.

I have listened to it, only recently though. And so far no on a semi-decent system so it needs more 'studying'.

I've been listening to Tommy Four Seven's offering today, and I quite like it. It's not 'Techno', but there's some pretty cool tunage throw in there.

I need to get around to Speedy J's mix, Terence Fixmer's as well as Liebing's. I've been lazy with this podcast series so far.

The latest podcast is by Richard Devine.

New Release: Terrence Fixmer - Electric City EP
Very nice work from Electric Deluxe, just look at the names involved:

Quote:

Terrence Fixmer - Electric City
Terrence Fixmer - Echoes
Terrence Fixmer - Electric City (Function Remix)
Terrence Fixmer - Electric City Tool 1 (Speedy J Remix)
Terrence Fixmer - Electric City Tool 2 (Terrence Fixmer Remix)

Function probably steals the show as you'd expect.

i havent heard this, but saw dave just after he finished it. said it had a similar vibe to 'variance' and he was very happy with it. finished it off at jay haze's studios, which supposedly have some killer speakers. cant wait to hear it.

EDIT - just grabbed my promo copy. the function mix is a BEAST!

Terance Fixmer "Comedy of Menace" LP out on Electric Deluxe
I received an email from Zero Inch telling me that Terance Fixmer has an album, "Comedy of Menace", out on Electric Deluxe.

I had a listen to a lot of the album on the preview function on ZI (which gives you the whole track) and it sounding like a very solid techno album.

Best track on the album is "Impakt" which is built around an intense throb (and that characteristic Fixmer screeching) that should remind you of Hose or Function. I expect it to get a caning by the DJs on CLR Podcast, and the Sandwell District / Ostgut types.

"My Experimentation" and "Last Heroes" are the two other tracks that really stood out to me.

Not a guy whose album I'd expect to buy but when I get the funds it will come into consideration.

Finally got Fixmers album and I think it was one of the most underrated releases of last year.

I thinks it stands alongside any of the TW originals and remixes as a techno album of extremely high quality. To me the comparison with TW is inevitable because the aesthetic created is of deep space exploration/travel.

New EDLX release!!!
Endless (Giorgio Gigli & Perc) debut with their "Area" EP [EDLX 14]

I didnt necessarily hear the connection between what Gigli and Perc were doing in their solo work. Having said that, Gigli's spacey headfuck and Perc's industrial grit compliment each other beautifully.

Surely there will be a vinly release at some point in the future (I can't see Gigli doing digital only tracks).

There's a freebie that's going around on Facebook, and a couple of other joints. Terence Fixmer - Mashine (Speedy J Dub), it goes alright.

I've been trying not to be too narrow minded about certain producers.

I had written Gary Beck off as a person of interest until hearing the latest EDLX release "Egoist".

The original is probably not a classic (like the Endless release which is being alarmingly ignored) but it is a funky little number well worth listening to.

The Work Ethic remixes are out and they sound fantasic.

http://www.juno.co.uk/products/work-ethics/455581-01/

Good to hear Klock back in town, the Echologist and cv313 remixes are very nice too.

The B2 is a ridiculously deep bit of dub from some new Scottish producer and is arguably the best of the lot.

Only fairly recently discovered the Electric Deluxe Podcast and have been thoroughly enjoying hearing sets from some of my favourite artists that are unlike any other sets that I've previously heard from them. Today's glorious discovery has been:
