Tommy's got an album on it's way on CLR - I got it sent through to review. Gotta say: lovers of Tommy are going to absolutely flip over this.

Lulz. You two are going to lose it, seriously. It's dark, grinding, industrial techno at it's best. Lots of distortion, fucked up weird sequencing, pretty much pieced together solely from field recordings and heavily effecting his own vocals to make synths/basslines etc. It's the most experimental release I've heard from CLR, and I like it. A lot.

T47 album sounds delicious.

His approach (i.e. desire to experiment) should really suit the album format.

Also need to get me that podcast.

Shit hot, please let this happen. Could be a very good year for this type of techno with Monoloc and Xhin in the next few weeks, Sandwell District for Creamfields then Klock vs. Dettmann later on, maybe Tommy Four Seven as well

I don't know what to make of T47 at the moment.

He certainly has himself a trademark sound (this is evident from Sor, TW remix, Armed and Ratu).

Of his releases to this point Sor (Bauhaus mixes don't count because it was a collab) is my favourite because there is room for something other than the tremendous muffled crunch of his beats and the crackling, staticy hiss. It could just be that I am soft and can't handle the intensity but I feel like I am not getting something eventhough, and this is not meant to be back handed, there is nothing overly complicated about T47s works.

Even as I type this out I don't really know that I disike any of T47s work (maybe just take this as a brainstorm) there is just something I need to get to the bottom of.

As far as the album goes it could be a brilliant experiment in techno (e.g. the last three minutes of the TW remix and the quality of the Bauhaus collab). However, according to his formline, most importantly the singles chosen for the prerelease, the experiment may have ended at the discovery of his current style. I have really high expectations of T47 and I have to say that 10 variations of Ratu isn't something I think is worth putting into the album format and would be a bit of a disappointment.

Obviously I just need to wait for the album…but I typed this out so some poor sap can waste his/her time reading it.

I also smashed a bit of Tommy out at MyAeon a few weeks ago, to the same result. I'm planning a few more events though that focus on this style of techno, hopefully people put their money where their mouth and support some local DJs playing great music that isn't heard that much around town.

this is refreshing to know! I am more than happy to support local tech djs playing this style of tech. If I dont have something on the event night or have to work the next day ofcourse I am there. Its just that I dont know so many new local tech dj names or more importantly dont know the style they play. Frustrating coz this is the kinda tech I wanna hear when Im out but dont know where to go to hear it!!!!!!!

My Aeon is a good bet when Pat is running the show

Sam plays this style as well, so does McWhinney (more dub tipped)

The problem is My Aeon imo. The Monoloc gig proved that there is a lot of interest in this type of CLR sound, I still think somewhere like Loop would be great for the nights you want to put on Pat

Back on topic....my copy of Ratu / Armed 3 arrived on vinyl last week

To draw crowds you need (Ger) on the bill otherwise people will yawn and be like "pfft a local, I'm local and I'm nothing special so by logical disconnection of reason why even bother"

My Aeon is a great space imo for what it is.
