$795 US plus $200 postage. Seems to be an ok price. Some go for much more but occasionally they pop up cheaper too.

Yeah i saw an mpc 60 mkii on gumtree for about $400-450 but the floppy needed to be replaced. The guy decided to fix it himself so he can sell it for more.

tiny's green shed, a reuse/recycle place in Canberra, had an mpc60 donated to them a few months ago... sold for ~$500ish
was funny to see facebook comments by n00bs accusing it of being banged up, old and useless.

oh well, my gloat is a x0xb0x kit - bought to dinsync a tr606 and cv a thingamagoop. all of which will be controlling/interacting with my video synth toys

^haha. The 3000 is a bit more modern than the 60. It's got 32meg of ram instead of 2!
But the MPC60 mki looks the best I think. Especially with the soft padded arm rest

I see you work for/at a mastering place, are you going to mod this further. I'm always interested in what/why/how the mastering guys mod there stuff.

Hi Will666,

This particular model of the eq is actually the 'mastering' version, so no mods needed really. It's all stepped controls as well as 1/2 dB steps to a certain point. It also only has a + or - 8dB range which is pretty spot on for mastering applications. I was able to choose the switch types on the unit, and I opted for the palazzo switches which have always felt good to me. the unit has a subtle but very endearing tone to it. the build quality is through the roof. using it on every mastering session since I received it. I think my GML is getting jealous.

Thanks for the reply mate. I think of Mastering gear like a parallel universe, the same but slightly different.

There is a very high probability I will get on one of those. They are listed at $855 at one Sydney shop.

Roland A-88: With 88 pro-quality weighted keys, the A-88 sets a new standard for streamlined, portable MIDI controllers. Its Ivory Feel-G weighted keyboard — a trusted asset found on high-end Roland workstations and digital pianos — brings a new level of grand piano luxury to the portable MIDI controller market. But even with its premium keyboard, the A-88 remains slim, compact, and easy to transport. For players looking for great weighted-keyboard action in a portable package, the A-88 is the best MIDI controller available.

I think you are in direct violation of the thread title. There's no purchasing and/or gloating??

I use Sonar so it was a no-brainer choice for me to pick a Roland board for the ACT (MIDI knobs and sliders) integration.

It's a very hard choice from the above. I would list the number of pads, buttons and sliders each has and just go for the one that has the most controllers, all other things being equal (keybed quality, aftertouch response, etc.)

Which one looks better next to your other gear?

From what I've been able to read and feel for myself they are all pretty much the same with regards to feel, probably lean towards the Akai due to the amount of controllers

I can't even buy one for me. They don't reach Aus till December apparently so I'm holding off my purchase. Hopefully I can budget for a higher-end MIDI piano. But too many tempting things to buy coming into Christmas. There's Albion II (sample library) just released. A new VSL Dimension Strings library with special introductory pricing, and still waiting for 512GB SSDs to drop below $300.

One thing I can gloat about, although it's not out yet, but will be soon: I pre-ordered Sonar X2 Producer DAW upgrade. It comes bundled with Roland R-Mix [Cakewalk edition] making the $99 upgrade price negligible for me.

Would the touch sliders on that be a step backwards without something tactile to grab onto?

And would a simpler/cheaper keyboard without all the extra pads and controls paired with an akai mpd24 or similar be another option? Personally I think being able to swing back in your chair with a pad controller on your lap while you hammer out beats is sometimes a cool thing instead of being restricted to a desk or stand with a full sized keyboard - but if you're not using pads too often I guess one of these all in one keyboards would be a nice space saver?

Gotta love how this thread has totally derailed into keyboard talk

This morning I picked up not one... but two of this fellows for a ridiculously low price tag. Mine have VU's and not PPM's though.
One works beautifully, while the other needs some work.

FInally got these too, have just listened to a few tracks on my iphone (works perfectly with 250ohm?) and the bass definition was incredible.

Ya serious?!!! $150??? Maybe they flogged it off as factory defect, seeing all the screenprinting was upside down.
