Andrew Slattery Mixes
Hey guys,

I've been very excited about some of the new tunes coming out lately so it's inspired me to put together 2 brand new mixes.
I can safely say they're the best I've ever done.
I've programmed and keyed both, to allow for some nice long transitions.

First mix is a bouncy tech house and prog.
http://soundcloud.com/slatts69/satur...house-may-2010

1) Come Home (Original Mix) - Yousef
2) Beachdusk - Danny Howells
3) Wendy Lisa - Fire regeneration (Daneel Remix) - Daneel
4) cry all night (original mix) - daniel steinberg
5) Supersnout (Original Mix) - Mark Broom
6) She's Got My Heart (Uner, Coyu Remix) - Noir, WestBoy
7) In Your Boat - Original Mix - Quivver
Beachball (Joris Voorn Remix) -Nalin & Kane
9) Joris Voorn - The Secret (Original Mix) - Joris Voorn

Second one is more big room prog and techno.
http://soundcloud.com/slatts69/satur...-prog-may-2010
1) So Soon (King Unique Remix) - Infusion
2) Nothing - Ad Brown Mix - Holden and Thompson
3) Mauri's Dream - Original Mix - Cedric Gervais
4) Clarity (Original Mix) - Medway & Luke Porter
5) Sycamore Feeling (Gui Boratto Remix) - Trentemoller
6) Like It Should Be feat. Gigi (Ribn's Translucent Vox Remix) - Steve Bug
7) Boom Boom - Original Mix - Quivver
Viro (Original Mix) - Eric Prydz
9) Swedish Beauty (Original Mix) - Max Vangeli & AN21
10) Dying To Live (Original Mix) - Oliver Lang
11) For the time being (Hernan and Tonks remix) - Phonique
12) Not Going Home (Eric Prydz Remix) - Faithless
13) Let It Roll - Chris Cargo Remix - Lank
14) Knights Of Columbos - Original Mix - On Spec

Hope you like!!

Just had a listen to the big prog one mate. Some nice progression in there. Good balance between ballsy/proggy tunes. Thanks for posting!

It's a sunny 26 degrees in London today, and your first mix is getting agreeable head bounces around the office. Nice work mate.

This is where prog has come from, and these sounds will always excite.
I don't know about you but to find a good life changing song is kind of an arduous task of late.

So I decided to delve back into the history books and cherry pick a bunch of tunes that have influenced me, and I think will change you if you haven't heard them. I've pieced together a bunch of songs of yesteryear that haven't aged (in my opinion anyway), that were made great by the gods that were Sasha and Digweed. A lot of these songs were only ever available on vinyl, and are now extremely rare, so it's likely that a lot of you haven't ever heard them in all their glory.

I've put this mix together in key and attempted to program it at the best of my ability. I'm very happy with how it's turned out, and hope you guys are too. Please let me know what you think!

http://soundcloud.com/slatts69/tribu...-sounds-of-old

1- Daydream - Young American Primitive
2 - Over and Out - Young American Primitive
3 - Magic (Blue AMazon DMC Mix) - Sasha
4 - Fairground (Quivver's Amytiville Dub) - Simply Red
5 - Lifted (Blue Amazon Dub) - The Dub Family
6 - Change (Brothers In Rhythm Remix) - Daphne
7 - Be as one - Sasha
8 - Cried To Dream (Blue Amazon Dub) - Bullitt
9 - Pokinoi (Sasha Remix) - Cirque De Soleil
10 - Ohmna- Sasha
11 - Remember (Sasha remix) - BT
12 - There's no other love - Blue Amazon

Sasha - Ohmna is incredible, I can't believe I've never heard it! I must have this track

Man your track selection is ace. I'm probably going to track down at least half of these tracks
Mixing not so much, but hey, you can work on that.

Cheers man, really enjoyed the majority of these tracks.

Cheers mate.

There were a couple of slightly dodgy mixes there. But Fuuuckkk some of those tunes are hard to mix! 2 minute beat less intros haha good times!

Not sure when you started to Dj, but I can tell you we have very similar sounds.

Their great tracks, I actually have some old sets with some of these tracks on them. As for the mixing, I haven't listen to your set yet (downloading it now), however, some of these tracks are not very user friendly eg., Be as One (sasha).

as for mixing it seems to be only important when people want to have cracks. I heard some Dj's on the weekend and over the past 2 months that play in clubs that are no more than pathetic. They might think they are good based on the crowds ignorance, but they are only their because they promote their own nights. If you think its just the the locals, there is a world class DJ ( a god amongst the progressive scene) that doesn't even move the pitch when he cues up a record ( the beauty of abelton and beating all tracks identical). If you don't believe, see for yourself on Dj Sounds, you should be able to find out who.

Hey mate,
I've only been dj'ing for about 18 months. However that sound has always excited me!

I think the mix that killed me was trying to do a 4-5 minute mix of Lifted into Change. First part was rather rough, but came out nice at the end!

a good mix isnt about length, its about transition. You can mix for 4-5 minutes, but very rare 1 out of 100 mixes and you would need to be utilising the CDJ at a minimum and taking advantage of the hot cue function. A Minor doesn't always mix with A Minor, keys are a guide, like a personality test is a guide to someones internal working. Not always accurate

Steel, ur spot on. I have heard your soundcloud mixes, and your you tube vids. Your very good, but you will be lucky to get gigs ( sorry for the neg advice). No one gives a shit about your ability, just how many people you can bring through the doors, and enhance promoters pay days, who preach we love music, we love music. Yeah they love money and image, if they loved music they would sack themselves as DJ's.

This is what I hate about the current Melbourne scene. No one is prepared to give someone who can actually play cracking tunes well a go!

I'm looking to start a new night downstairs at the Barkley on Saturdays, pushing these sounds, and focusing on TALENTED DJ's.
Will keep you up to date with progress.

Completely agree. But with this mix the last few minutes of the transition are amazing. I just fucked the crucial bit at the start because it was floating like a motherfucker haha

Good DJ's, good people.

Looking to push a proper underground melodic progressive vibe.
Proper musical progression starting off deep, building into proper peak time sounds

Top tunes in that first set, keen to hear. You should also check the flip of Sasha - Ohmna if you haven't already. It's called 'Arkham Asylum' and it smashes.

Live Mix from Local Darkbeat Sessions
Hey guys,

I recorded this set last night. It's basically what I played last Friday at the darkbeat party, with a few additions.

Bit faster than I played.

All programed and keyed.

Lots of big sexy vocally prog! Similar sort of stuff to what Jody Wisternoff is currently pushing.

I hope you like, and please let me know what you think!

http://soundcloud.com/slatts69/friday-july-demo

1) Nothing Can Be True (Guy Gerber Rework) P. Diddy
2) Two Burn - Quivver
3) Can You Hear Me (Eelke Kleijn Remix) - Hybrid
4) Leisure Battery (Soundprank Remix) - Sql
5) Moth (Martin Roth Remix) - Jaytech & James Grant
6) Awaken - Holmes Ives Mix - Holmes Ives, Sophie Moleta
7) Henry Saiz - The Rider (Original Mix)- Henry Saiz
DONUT (GUI BORATTO REMIX) - M.A.N.D.Y vs. Booka Shade
9) Madooza (Original Mix) - Bsound
10) Make You Whole (TV Rock Mix) - Stockholm Syndrome
11) If You Cant Sleep (Scope_s Miami Dub) - Situation
12) Here I Am Feat. Lisa Shaw (Shur I Kan Dreamy Dub) - Fred Everything
13) Reckoner (James Zabiela's Tweezers on a Towel Rail Remix) - Radiohead

pretty good mate...I love a lot of the tracks there especially "Can you hear me" and "Donut"

Eelke Kleijn is on top form at the moment..

I am no expert, but I thought at times your levels were a bit off..sometimes too much bass, sometimes not..apart from that, not a bad mix

Cheers mate!

I noticed the funny levels too when I was listening in the car. I think there was something a little funny with the recording, as the sound coming out of the speakers was fine at the time...

Hey Slatts

I downloaded the May Prog one of these ages ago and only recently listened on a drive down to Melbourne in June. Fucking loved it mate. Seriously good music. Really.

Burnt a copy for a mate and gave it to him too, so I must have liked it

Keep up the good work - Will download a few of the other links you've put up and I'd recommend others to do the same.

Di, you'll probably like the May prog mix. Check it out.

Keep up the good work - Will download a few of the other links you've put up and I'd recommend others to do the same.

Di, you'll probably like the May prog mix. Check it out.

Thanks for the feedback mate, really appreciate it!!!

Yeah sorry mate, bloody soundcloud only lets you have a few hours of music up, and I can't be arsed paying the money they're asking to upgrade it haha

Jeez I hate Djs that put shit on other djs!! And it's all innuendo!! Constructive criticism and encouragement are good for everyone. Think about it next time someone criticises you !

We have a very healthy and very talented pool of Djs here in Melbourne.

Btw Just a friendly suggestion , Can all you Djs put your name in the title please ?? I have all these downloads that I don't know who they belong to !!

Glad you like it. Thanks for the compliment.

I am actually working on something at the moment to do with some classic tracks form 1993-2000, and if all goes well should be big, possibly a one off night.

Di, I did think about it.

Just a general comment not highlighting any Dj in particular, But Slatts tries hard and is quite passionate about his mixes, and some of the comments ( regardless of right or wrong) were a bit negative.

Guy has potential, and the set he posted from darkbeat was very good, his best set I have heard. I have heard them all.

Good work buddy, keep it up. By the way first three mixes were excellent.

Slatts, the June session was a ripper. Half way through and loving it

Matt - I wouldnt say I liked Mark Twain, but he was Mr quoteable. More intelligent quotes in his lifetime than just about any other human in recent memory.

If he'd have lived in China a 1,000 years earlier, he'd have his own religion.

Twain was pretty clever guy, and quite sarcastic towards society. He loved the word fool
