Mmmmmm tasty tasty wax...
God bless this resurgence in populatriy of vinyl and old school shit being re-released, or the not so old school stuff getting a first release on wax...just picked up these 4 releases from Tivoli Hi Fi in Camberwell...

...dance music might have (semi) had its day on vinyl, and just when you thought rock music had, too, it comes back at ya with releases from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab and a like on tasty 180Gram plates
Pete Gordon - Deep and Low

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it

How great is it?! There's been such a resurgence in vinyl over the past few - so pleased to see it
Not so much for dance music and DJ friendly single releases, but more so with full abums.

I think it's due to record labels attempting to combat pirating and downloading - they've realized that you need to offer more to appease fans.
Nothing beats that feeling of purchasing an album on wax

Yeah, exactly! There's people out there who just ain't down with buying digitally...you're buying nothing, in some respects, compared to the tangible quality of vinyl...it's something you can actually collect and treasure for decades

Yep, totally agree.
The only stuff I buy digitally, and ever have done, is DJ tracks. I cant justify buying albums digitally. I need something to show for my money!

Sounds good!

My previous purchase, 2nd hand, was the Limahl - The Never Ending Story

Media Player

Mixes in with slower/deep house perfectly!

i got the puff the magic dragon soundtrack on vinyl the other day =)

i too love the rerelease of old shit, but my heart will always belong to dusty off shops and second hand record stores.

<3 never change. no better feeling in the world than finding an old second hand piece of wax you've been looking for for years in a record store and saying to yourself, "of all of the hundreds of crate diggers who've gone through these records, and every single one of them either didn't see this one or ignored it, and now it's all there for me!"

about every single ol'school rock record you could ever ask for, fleetwood mac, moody blues, pink floyd, still got four times the power that any digital copy has

Do you not ever sit down at home and put on a record just to so you can hear it in all it's glory. Your fully sick subwoofer setup in your car won't reproduce it in all it's glory!

Edit - add beer for extra glory

The sound...and the collectability of it (the Faith No More 'Angel Dust' is limited to 3000 copies world wide, across 2 x 12" plates whereas when it was originally released it was a single 12" LP so it's better quality than any previous vinyl release of this album)...I've already got the three albums from OP on CD/MP3, having them on vinyl is just about the cool factor

And just coming home and listening to them in the evening...turntables don't have to be used for mixing...plus I like playing old school stuff in sets at house parties.

:green with envy:

Though my mum's partner still has all his wax, could probably get him to part with it one day.

Best was one of his old mates letting me rape a crate of wax he was given, it was all shit I had not interest in, until right at the back was a pristine copy of New Orders "Blue Monday", original 1983 release, pressed in New Zealand (back when NZ actually had vinyl pressing facilities)

No sorry lol,

Just seems like some Indi fad collecting "band" records. I'v got at least 500 rekkids but they're only for mixing. I guess it would be cool to buy your favourites on vinyl for novelty, but it just seems like it would so inconvenient to have all your listening music (non DJ stuff) on wax,

whoa! Collecting vinyl is not just a fad for 19 year old “indie” kids.

You gotta remember that records existed before DJing and that like CDs and MP3s, there is vinyl for every genre of music. Not just "DJ" music and "band" music

There are jazz, blues, funk, disco, reggae, hip hop, pysch, rock, metal, punk, R&B, prog-rock, classical and folk music collectors just to name a few. And they don’t give a shit about DJing, all they care about it discovering new, old or different music.

If you have a stereo in your house then whats the difference between going up to it and changing a track on a CD and flipping over a record?

The only novelty aspect is seeing silly stuff like this for cheap and buying it for a laugh.

Huge tune! Would be good to see him release something 'deep' again.. though I must say, his new sound is def. setting the pace.

True, I guess its just that I do most of my listening in the car or on the train so it seems like EVERYONE else must do ALL their listening there, but I realise this is not true now lol

It's where I do most of my listening, but I still just love owning this on wax

It's has huge longevity, too...like I've got records which are 40-50 years old and as they've been treated well, they still play fine like new...no CD will ever last that long, the chemincals breakdown and even if they're not scratched, they still deteriorate to the point of being unplayable at some stage...and any digital sale will be so long ago forgotten about, lost in the infinate depths of your hundreds and hundreds of terabytes of storage (by the time it's that old)

I know it's not rare or anything, but I gotta share...
Scored the J Dilla Donuts Pack for FREE via a fuck-up through Bleep.com. They had delays with their supplier and for some reason didn't end up charging my CC.... I even complained about the huge wait for it.... haha
SCORE!

And after much deliberation I pre-ordered the Ninja Tune XX Box set. Really amped about it. They've been one of my favorite record labels for so long - couldn't pass it up. Now the wait

Nice list, dude! Baguio Track = awesomest track ever! Which mix of Tijuana? Simon's Moonface remix with the Mad Noise and Space Echo acapella's?

Holy shit, wants a chocolate record!
Pete Gordon - Deep and Low

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it

Sure fucking is!

I also inherited this quite recently:

Brasilia United is a fucking awesome tribal track. Puts to shame all the shit tech house people are producing these days.

Come to think of it, I think I'm now officially hooked on collecting vinyl. It's just so fucking sexy!

Good score! I was looking for that release for years...and when I finally found it, there was audible scratches across the pella's!

I just picked up a vinyl copy of Jesu's "Opiate Sun". I had the CD copy but I like the artwork so much and I love Broadrick so much I just had to get the vinyl too
