New Release Promo Thread / Singles / Albums Etc
In an effort to clean up the forum, make it a bit more user friendly and encourage new members to post in here - I've decided to make one "new release thread"

Please don't post a new thread for every single new release that comes up, this thread is now where you need to post it so people can check out what's on offer.

I will be leaving the most recent ones in here until they drop off the front page so as not to disadvantage anyone and will be deleting any new ones that get posted unless they are posted in the correct place (ie: here)

Next up on Definition:breaks - LYM - Boing (Lunar Shift Remix)

LoseYourMind – Boing! (Lunar Shift Remix)
(Taken from the forthcoming compilation album - Defying Boundaries Vol 1)

Definition:breaks has been around for just over 18 months now – and we have had our fair share of ups and downs – but having just won the Nurave.com 2010 award for “Best Label” we thought it was time we put together some of the greatest moments of the labels releases so far for those who haven’t managed to locate our tunes yet……
And to top it off we thought we would add a little exclusive track for those who do know of us in the shape of label main players Lunar Shift’s remix of one of our earlier releases LoseYourMind’s “Boing!”....

LoseYourMind - Boing! (Lunar Shift Remix) (clip)

Many many thanks to all those who voted for Definition:breaks from this forum in the Nurave Awards
As a thank you - watch out for a free download comin in the next couple of days........

DOWNBEAT 036

DUB ELEMENTS – CRIMINAL CORPORATE EP

This 6 track EP from Dub Elements brings forth some serious sound. All the tunes are different from another, but all give a huge BOOM! ‘Midnight Bizzness’ has a steady thumping bassline with killer beat programming. ‘Burning skull’ is mega militant with a low slung sub bass along with ripping, aggressive stabs over top. ‘Criminal Corporate’ and ‘Fix It’ blend the lines between nu skool and electro madness. These are both big, grimy bastards for the headstrong. ‘Diazepam’ is a techy odd breakup slice of electro breaks with a vibe all it’s own. ‘Skratcha’ along with Venganza is a nasty dubstep tweaker with loads of surprises.

RIDIC007: DiiSTORTiiON 'Dynamite' w/ Yanix Remix OUT NOW!
RIDIC007: DiiSTORTiiON - Dynamite

Release: September 21, 2010

01. Dynamite (Original Mix)
02. Dynamite (Yanix Remix)

For our seventh release, we welcome newcomer DiiSTORTiiON to the Ridiculoud artist stable. 'Dynamite' is a dark, growling track that means business. Full of pitch bends, catchy synth lines, and twisted vocal stabs, DiiSTORTiiON's first Ridiculoud release will have you begging for the next. For the remix, Yanix's submission includes a relentless bassline that stays true to the menacing drive of the original and adds a bit of peaktime heat.

This package will be available at Beatport September 21st and everywhere else October 19th!

RIDIC008: DiiSTORTiiON 'Taken' w/ Ghettface and Llupa Remixes - OUT NOW
RIDIC008: DiiSTORTiiON - Taken

Release: September 07, 2010

01. Taken (Original Mix)
02. Taken (Ghettface Remix)
03. Taken (Llupa’s Liberation Remix)

Part two of DiiSTORTiiON's debut with Ridiculoud is a dark, driving, and floor-burning original. 'Taken' employs a fierce bassline that drives the track with trippy synths and a haunting vocal sample. On the first remix, Ghettface returns once again with big drums, screaming synths, and high powered edits - this one is for those peaktime moments! Finally, Llupa joins the Ridiculoud roster with an epic, rolling progressive masterpiece for the last remix. Crafting his own melody to complement the dark atmosphere of the original, this one is the perfect beginning for any set!

This package will be available at Beatport September 7th and everywhere else October 5th!

Stylus Rex - Volta
The 26th release on Ground Level Records is Stylus Rex’s Volta, with early support from Eskimo Twins, the Boomslang crew and Skool of Thought this release comes fully charged with remixes from Jay Stewart and Kiwa.

Since the first self-pressed vinyl Boomstick release in 2005 which was picked up by Hiedi Van Amstell to sell through Phonica & Ray Vinyl through Vinyl Addiction, the Stylus Rex sound had come a long way.

Releases on Punk Funk, Re:Connect, Control Breaks, Bronzerat, BijouBeats & 5 singles so far on Ground Level Records (Serious Wobble, Cops On Coke, Surge, Spangle Wagon, & now Volta) have all pushed to move the underground bass and beats sound forward.

The Tech-Funk-Electro-Breaks sound of new single Volta is a fresh electrified throb that amps up the party. Kiwa take the track and inject a peak time funk to proceedings, complimenting the tracks ethereal atmospherics with a driving sawtooth bassline. Jay Stewart takes the track back to it’s breaks roots, working the groove with solid drums, and extending the breakdown into a 3am hands in the air moment.

Volta is the first cut taken from Stylus Rex's debut album, due to drop in early 2011.

Lovin the KIWA REMIX - Drumattic Twins
Nice groove to the original, digging the Kiwa mix too! - Hexadecimal
Love the original, fave Stylus tune to date! - Funkasaurus
Holy Crap this is a huge release - Marty B
oh my god....real breaks!!! - Wicked Style Italy
nice release. and good to hear some new stuff from jay stewart - Jack Stat
Great release guys! i really like all the tracks but Kiwa remix is simply PHAT! - The Pooty Club Records

You can pick Volta up now at Beatport - https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/...l/275234/Volta

RIDIC009: Vize - R U There w/ Quadrat Beat and 8*B1T Remixes
RIDIC009: Vize - R U There

Release: October 05, 2010

01. R U There (Original Mix)
02. R U There (Quadrat Beat Remix)
03. R U There (8*B1T’s Right Behind You Mix)

Vize makes his debut on Ridiculoud with a dirty, bouncing track made for those who like a little bit of filth in their sets. ‘R U There’ slams in with a nasty, electro bassline and continues building with some wicked synth programming and precise editing. Second, Quadrat Beat handles the first remix, emphasizing a driving and raw bass to create a dynamic and heads-down groove. Finally, 8*B1T takes a trip on the wild side with pumping bass, stutter synth lines, and some fun effects to remind us all what nu-skool used to sound like.

This package is available now exclusively at Beatport and will be available everywhere else November 2nd!

Meat Axe - Handjobs For The Loser Crowd EP (Disconekta)
Disconekta Is proud to present:

Check the minisite : http://meat-axe.com/ep

Released: October 27th, 2010
Genre: Breakbeat
Format: Digital Download
Ref No: DR003
Mastering: Pow Low

Tim and Dan(Meat Axe) are like a futuristic techno version of Voltron except there's only two lions and one of them is a bit of a jerk and you don't have to hassle your mum to give you each separate bit for birthdays and Christmas over the course of three years (which sucks because that rich prick from school got them all for no reason...and his Dad drives this radical Trans-am with sweet rims and his Mum has an ample kaboose and is well bangin').
When they join together they raid your stash and make this music that sounds kind of like your Nintendo did just before it started doing that thing where the screen flashes on and off and you really want to play River City Ransom, except the snares are well large and the bassline goes NEOW-NEOW-NEOWNEOWNEOWWWW in some vaguely interesting patterns.

Tracklist:
1. Longtime Johnny
2. Chocolate Grind
3. Wake Me For Rissoles
4. Caramel Barry

Available from:
Addictech
Juno Download
Digital-Tunes

KRAYMON - HANABI / BRING IT ON - DUSTED BREAKS RECORDS (DBR029) - OUT NOW!

We are proud to announce our 3rd installment from Bristol's legendary breaks producer KRAYMON. Not content with that though, we also bring you two of the scenes best up and coming producers for 2010 in the form of CURL & DEAN and DUANE BARRY

Here are some selected DJ comments and pretty hot IDJ magazine review for this release!

8/10 IDJ Magazine Review - IDJ REVIEW

Hanabi is a huge tune! Dusted are on a roll! - CUT LA ROC (Rocstar, Skint)

The originals are my fave - Great synth work and tight production as always from Kraymon. - RUN RIOT (Rocstar, We Are Live)

Love the original of 'Bring it on' loving all of the Kraymon releases at the moment. - KARTON (Sound Of Habib)

This is a great pack here, loving Hanabi! Both mixes are rocking - FARACE (Kick It)

The original take of Hanabi is a powerful Breaks with some 90s synths... progressive, melodik, bassline, ... all in one ! The Duane Barry remix is pure melodik Trance and the Curl & Dean remix have his special progressive sound with some mysterious synths and much groove... cinematographic! Zap! Pow! Die! - Bounce with DJ Hero Remixes
"DJ Hero dub is excellent" - PLUMP DJs

"DJ Hero back with another dope remix! Full Support" - Keith MacKenzie

"this release manages to combine sleazy Baltimore beats and swinging bass with tons of energy, zaniness and great samples" 4/5 - Mixmag

"This is a cool cut for any funky dancefloor" 7/10 - IDJ

We're proud to present our 27th release, and the last for 2010, Bounce by Zap! Pow! Die! ZAP! POW! DIE! began in Philadelphia in a large warehouse around Fishtown area. there have been no shows, and only a handful of releases thus far. Bounce.. on GroundLevel right here being the most recent and first actual single. with past remixes though also for Kelevra (Passenger) and Prosper (Expressillon) and an upcoming beast of a remix for XXXChange. Currently ZAP! POW! DIE! operates out of Brooklyn NYC. The sound is tough and nasty, skanky, sleazy, bassline horror. Check it. The package comes with four mixes, two takes on the original, the Fuck This mix and Fuck That mix, plus a rerub and dub mix by DJ Hero. The Fuck That mix combines broken beats and a Moroder-esque bassline to kick start the party. The Fuck This mix kicks off with a Baltimore feel, combining sleazy beats with massive pads...and then the bass drops, this will steamroller it's way through any peaktime audience! DJ Hero, hot off his recent remixes for Simply Jeff and CyberSutra, takes elements from both mixes and combines them into a hardhitting breaks joint with 100% funk factor.

The release is available NOW at Beatport - https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/.../288558/Bounce

For free bootlegs and mixtapes go to.. http://www.soundcloud.com/zap_pow_die

DJ Feedback:
Kickflip - DJ Hero Remix is my pick of the bunch but all doing the business.
Datadex - Really digging this one ! awesome release ! DJ Hero's Dub Mix for us ! Loving it !
DJ Icey- Def Feelin the Fuck This Mix Good Stuff!
The Pooty Club Records - Dj Hero dub mix works for me, another great release from Ground Level!
Marty B (Onion Mag and Blog) - Interesting release, the original is heavy as fuck and will work well on the more electro orientated dancefloors. I do like the Dj Hero Dub and I think this will fit in well in my breaks sets
Scott Remedy (NSB Radio) - All are sick!
Wicked Style Blog - It's an amazing fuckeable tune!!! 10+++
Breakonomics RTE Radio - HUGE! Where was this track during the summer! Madness. Full support this end. Love the fuck this remix.
Drumattic Twins - DJ Hero Remix is right up our street , thank you...
Hexadecimal - Pretty solid package all round
Pimpsoul - DJ Hero dub is the one for me, gonna be playing in Canada next month on tour for sure!

Crackerz & Jam - Freq/can You Find Me - Dusted Breaks Records - (dbr028)

CRACKERZ & JAM - FREQ/CAN YOU FIND ME - DUSTED BREAKS RECORDS - (DBR02

Remix coming from CHAMBER

Inspired by their favourite tasty snack, Richard and Paul met and Crackerz and Jam were born. Ready to the expose themselves to the world (in a musical sense that is) they decided to start playing other people’s music and take all the credit for it!

From this Richard and Paul soon gained a reputation for getting the party started at some of the dopest events across the UK. This led to an appearance at the 2008 Breakspoll after party and DJ magazine tipping them as ‘gotta be big’.

The studio bug soon stuck and the symptoms were heavy! With their production gaining support from DJs such as Lady Waks, Mr No Hands, Eddie Temple Morris, Cut La Roc & The Drum Monkeys and being dropped top of the show on XFM London, they could see there was no cure for this bug!

Aged just 22, Chamber's mad skills behind the decks have seen him play alongside artists such as Ed Solo, DJ Vadim, Orbital, Adam F, Atomic Hooligan, The Freestylers, Benny Page, Lee Coombs, DJ Yoda, A Skillz, J Majik, Baobinga, Rennie Pilgrem, General Midi, The Breakfastaz and many more. He has DJed at some of the UKs biggest clubs (such as Bristol's Motion and The Arches in London) and festivals (including Glastonbury, BeachBreak Live and Aeon) as well as touring internationally.

In 2010, Chamber won the 'Best Small Club / Event' award at Breakspoll (with his Bass Kitchen club night) and was voted within the top 5 breakthrough breakbeat DJs in the world. Chamber has also seen his first few music releases this year including an EP on Composure Records, as well as various official video game soundtrack remixes. Now we are proud to present this guys first remix and hopefully is a sign of more great things to come

SOME DJ FEEDBACK

Like this a lot, Freq is the stand out track here - GENERAL MIDI

Low Slung & Well Done! - Scott (CRYSTAL METHOD)

loving the Freq and Can You Find Me tunes!! - KARTON

Really like Can you find me. Proper funky electro vibes with some nice oldskool flavour! 9/10 - BILL VEGA

Im feeling the Freq & Chamber remix, these are the sort of tunes you want to hear in Fabric at about 5am to keep
ya bouncing until they throw you out.
- CURL & DEAN

This is available to listen and purchase EXCLUSIVILY on Beatport for the next 2 weeks and is available on all other stores from OCTOBER 25th

This wicked review just in from DJ magazine!

Crackerz & Jam
Freq/Can You Find Me? (Dusted Breaks)
These two are one of the most exciting new duos in the UK scene, and here they come with a cut full of old skool breakbeats, fuzzy dubbed-out Clavia burbling, old hardcore stabs and some obligatory freaky noises. 'Freq' amounts to little more than an early doors tool, but builds excitement nicely and has good energy. The Chamber remix adds more bottom end and Timpani percussion, while C&J's 'Can You Find Me?' again draws on some old hardcore influences - as is their wont - for a fun-filled old skool mash-up in a modern electro-breaks stylee.

8.5/10

Another Spanish assault breaks forth from Definition:breaks – this time CoolBreakerZ are back with another tearin heavy hitter. This time they keep the dirty bass action and lean towards the more melodic side of things. This one has been going down well with the Spanish crowds and now with 3 fresh remixes this release is properly phattened up!

First out of the blocks is a remix by Sylus, who has released huge tracks already this year on Standard Audio and Trans:verse. This remix is also in the massive bracket and definitely kicks forth with extra helpings of dirt and filth and a monstrous dub-steppy breakdown.
Next up is Southampton duo Mobius, who drop it down a notch and deliver a remix with added tech and solid beats which is squarely aimed at movin the crowds with its bouncy bassline riff. With tracks this year on Ape, Yellowfinger and Flextone we are pleased to have them on the label for sure…..
And finally a new kid on the block – The Rumblist - makes his first appearance on Definition:breaks. “To try and pin The Rumblist down to one specific genre is futile” is the statement on his website – but when he drops a breaks remix of this quality we just had to put it out there. This remix is a taste of things to come on the label from this very talented producer.

Feedback so far for this release.....

Ceos (Downbeat) - The original is a beast!! Will be dropping that one

Far Too Loud - Liking the Sylus remix a lot, some nice late night dark breakbeat vibes!

Duane Barry (Digital Sensation) - straight up nasty shit once again from the masters Def Breaks - this is a wicked release all the remixes are great but I'm gonna go with the original - it just about ripped my head off! Full support from me

Lee Martin (Dusted Breaks) - Lovin the Mobius Remix and Will Play it out!

Chris Bass Reflections - Sick release! CoolBreakerz always pull through. Loving all the mixes but the Sylus remix is the one for me.

Lightshapers - mobius remix is wicked, its the sylus remix for me on this one though. has the filth factor.

Pale Penguin (VIM) - Very-very strong package indeed! All tracks are really good, darkish, rollin and dirty! I'll go with the rather excellent MOBIUS remix......SYLUS did also awesome job. Full support!!

Elektroshok Records - THIS RELEASE IS F**K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THE ORIGINAL SONG & SYLUS REMIX!! TOP!!

Support in our Metamorph Masterpieces Show (Mixcloud) in the next weeks and also in our live sets. - KULTUR (Ibreaks)

Bkp - Take Your Time - Dusted Breaks (dbr030) - Out Now!

bkp - TAKE YOUR TIME - DUSTED BREAKS RECORDS (DBR030) OUT NOW!

For our big 3-0 release, we have once again collaborated with one of Australia's best up and coming producers Brett Pattman (aka bkp) and for the remixes we have decided to go for a host of talented producers who are either brand new on the scene or like bkp, up and coming!

AUDIOHAZARD (UK), OPEN CLUSTER (GEO) & MIKEY GOLDEN (USA)

Selected DJ Comments for the is release

Open Cluster remix is the one for me on this release, followed by the Original - LEX (Ben & Lex)

Favourite Track : BKP : Take Your Time (Original Mix) & (AUDIOHAZARD remix) - Rating: 4/5 Comments: Yeah ! Pure Nu Skool Breaks with a Melodik touch !! Marvelous the original mix and Powerful the Audiohazard remix. Support in our Metamorph Masterpieces Show (Mixcloud) in the next weeks and also in our live sets. - KULTUR (IBREAKS)

The Open Cluster remix of 'Take Your Time' is wicked, and we'll be giving it a good airing for sure. - SEAN (SCHEMA)

Another really versatile package this, for me it's probably the driving mix from Open Cluster, or the stripped back groover from Audiohazard that will fit best with what I tend to play. The off the wall mix from Mikey Golden is pretty crazy & cool as well though. - ALI (MOBIUS)

Audiohazard remix is wicked, like the bassline! Will support - RETROID

Release: November 09, 2010

01. Blackout (Original Mix) PREVIEW
02. Blackout (Mars Remix) PREVIEW

Feedback for this release can be found here: http://www.ridiculoudrecords.com/ind...=1_25_RIDIC010

This package is available now exclusively at Beatport and will be available everywhere else December 7th!

I was sitting on a plane to Spain last year (how poetic!) en route to play one of the HUGE mega-knees-ups in Southern Spain to the breakbeat faithful & I started dabbling with a re-edit of Bar 9's 'Shaolin Style'. The savage wobble got me going & by the end of the flight I had a dubstepbreaks prototype knocked up.

Being an impulsive kind of fellow I dropped it that night & 6,000 mentalists went, well, mental, and thus began a run of re-fixes & re-rubs that topped the Beatport charts on several occasions this year & have smashed it for me from Perth to Toulouse and at all points in between.

The last installment of re-fixes has been picked up by the rather excellent Rottun Recordings and features two seriously dirty chunks of bass music.

Already with over 20,000 spins on SOUNDCLOUD they have dropped this week on BEATPORT. Give them a spin here ...

Released this Thursday exclusive to Beatport

Audio

For our next release we at Ape Towers are very pleased to welcome back the northern monkeys branch of the Ape fam, the mighty 601!

Fresh from the start of their new label ‘We do Bass‘ the boys have brought the Ape some proper badass bass heavy breaks action to our doorstep and we are so nice that here it is for you too!!

‘White Off’ does exactly what it says on the tin. Tried and tested this summer it does indeed make any club, go ‘White off PROPA’!!!

Badboy jungle drums get things going followed by a drop into some bowel-shaking poo -making bass that will mash ya swede from the inside. The immortal title hook line by someone ‘so cockney it hurts’ leads you into sweet ass dubstep basses, mental edits and old skool vocal synths make this a non stop rollercoaster of a dancefloor KILLER!!

The EP is rounded off by 2 remixes that were due to be on the fellas LP, Dirty North’s remix album but never found their way to see the light of day and we at Ape and the 601 thought that was a damn shame, so here there are especially for you (as Kylie and Jason would say)

First up the nutbag Wrongstars take ‘Punch The Clown’ and twist it into a ‘woo yeah’ bass driven relentless stomper with some wicked old skool treats in store.

Next up Ape head honchos Ben & Lex take on the Aretha monster ‘RKSTDY’ and turn in a straight up rolling breakbeat banger for the party crew and no mistake!!

Ladies & Gentle folk, we invite you to go ‘WHITE OFF PROPA innit bredblud bruvva n ting !!!

Mixmag Review

Well and Truly, Pwopa

Forget everything you think you know about Nat and George, 601.
They’ve made a huge leap from the progressive vibes of their past and have entered into a world of wibbly-wobbly, fidgety house breaks.

White Off is a no nonsense slice of party action and then some.

DJ Feedback

Freestylers | At last a some decent Breaks tunes.....very rare these days!!!!!

Aquasky | white off is great... there have been some wikid new tunes lately. i am glad breaks is going back to its roots. its what i loved about the scene!

Freq Nasty | Kewl!

General Midi | Bringing the fun back!

Definition:breaks 024 – Neurokrem - Ferrofluid / Horizon

For the next release on Definition:breaks we are proud to bring you a massive slice of Slovenian filthy breaks from Neurokrem.

Ghostrider and Damage began back in late 90's experimenting with wide variety of electronic dance music, but after many years of producing techno tracks they realized that they just could not do any tracks without breaks sections in them. So they formed HardWired and had a release alongside Mars on the Beat Pressure label in 09, but then they stopped producing and placed their efforts into DJ-ing and a radio show. They then met a young talented guy, who was dedicating all of his free time to sound design - Urke_MF, a hiphop producer who was influenced by Drum n Bass. After few drunken studio sessions they decided to work together, and Neurokrem was born.

Neurokrem have already had a remix released on Held II Ransom, and are rumoured to be collaborating with Sinners Inc. Their debut on Definition:breaks is a 2 track excursion into heaviness and filth with a side order of tech topped with a thick slice of breakbeats.

Ferrofluid began life around 8 months ago and has had parts lost in the digital ether, gone through various transformations, and has finally mutated into a evil monster of a track with a scary horror intro and a low down growly drop into some of the nastiest filth to scare the feint hearted!
To compliment the evilness the 2nd track Horizon is a techier affair but with a nasty bass and full on breakbeats thrown in for good measure. To us – if LTJ Bukem made breaks they may sound a little like this!!

Feedback so far for this release.....

Duane Barry (Digital Sensation) - Ferrofluid is pretty fucking terrifying! Literally a monster of a tune! Full support from me!

Elektroshok Recordings - great support!! i love ferrofluid!! 5/5 I needed to hear a song like the dark and powerful!

Far Too Loud - Very tough techy tearout production. Don't usually play these tunes much these days but if I was playing a hard breaks set I'd make sure I had these with me.

Mobius - horizon is pretty driving from start to finish but doesn't match up to the depth of Ferrofluid for me.

Pale Pengguin (Vim) - Horizon is a great tune.......dark, dirty and rollin.....will support!!

Lightshapers - niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. ferrofluid is wicked.

Lazy Boy (NSB Radio) - Horizon is a dark nasty fatty sure to fit into many of my sets, though at first listen I think Ferrofluid may be my favorite with a slightly "bigger" sound.

Definition:breaks 025 – Lethalness – Isolate EP

Definition:breaks definitely likes to bring you the best Spanish acts – and Lethalness are another name to add to that list! Andrew and Alex form the Gibraltar based heavy bassline addicts and are building up an impressive name. They have remixed Enough Weapons and also Freerange DJ’s for Ape.

Lethalness debut on D:b with a huge 3 track EP of original material. “Distance (Dub)” is a quality track with a full on fluctuating wobbly lead bassline and driving beats. This track is heavy Spanish flavour at its best and goes off proper!
“End Of Time” is a journey into a darker place, but still has massive bass action, major growl, and wicked drops. And believe us - this track also doesn’t disappoint!
To round off this massive release D:b breaks moves into Dubstep territory for the first time with “Solid”. This one definitely kicks big time, and has full on sampled breaks, which means this one will fit in both breaks and Dubstep sets without fail!

Feedback so far for this release.....

Backdraft - wicked EP & Solid is Excellent ))

Ceos (Downbeat) - Rugged & raw! Liking them all. Full support. 5/5

Bill Vega - Clean, rolling, hard hitting bassline breaks.. can’t go wrong really can you 8/10

Lee Martin (Dusted Breaks) - 'Distance' Has got some welly!!! Nice!

Mobius - You can always be sure there will be some slamming beats when a Definition promo hits and this is no exception. Solid and Lethalness will both get dropped in my sets with Distance being my favourite, proper bassline breakbeat goodness.

Duane Barry (Digital Sensation) - Love the old school beats of "Solid" and all the dirty synth stabs in all 3 tracks especially "Distance (Dub)" which is full on nastiness!

Pale Penguin (Vim) - Really liked "Solid" awesome Dubstep flavour! I'll play this for sure.....

Vinyl Junkie - Excellent release as always

Lightshapers - niceeeellllllllleeeeeeeeeee. im liking 'solid'. good stuff

Lazy Boy (NSB Radio) - particularly awesome release here imo. Really liking Solid, very dope. Distance is defo a keeper as well. End of Time is an absolute beast!

VIMBREAKS078 Steve Maccabe - Aero

A new techno / tech funk release from VIM Records by Midlands based DJ & producer Steve Maccabe. Steve hosts the Tech Funk Sessions on NSB Radio and he has had previous remixes released on VIM Records and R3tox Recordings, his trademark glitch tech sound can be heard in the original mix creating a classic rolling techno tune with clicks, bleeps and deep synth stabs. French producer Benjamin Vial takes it on an acid trip with crunchy acidic basslines and a housey percussive groove. Home Alone, whose been gaining a lot of momentum in the breaks scene, turns out a proper trippy prog breaks mix, cited by many as his best work to date. London based producer System 2 rounds off the package with a Tech Funk outing of fat modulated basslines and trippy samples edits.

Preview links -

Original Mix

Benjamin Vial Remix

Home Alone Remix

System 2 Remix

Selected feedback -

KULTUR (METAMORPH MUZIK, KULTURA BREAKZ) - Superb VIM release. The Home Alone remix is a fantastic Tech-Breaks. The original mix and Benjamin Vial remix are also in our bag.

EK (DEAD FAMOUS RECORDS, DUSTED BREAKS RECORDS) - Wicked tracks. Luving the System 2 remix - fat! Benjamin Vial remix is very cool too.

DANIELA DOWNS (DEAD FAMOUS LABEL MANAGER, NSB BREAKS REVIEWER) - I like all 4 mixes on here, but i'd have to say my fav is dino's. i think it's the best thing he's done yet, hands down. absolutely great remix, and an all around great package. well done VIM!

LADY PACKA (V.I.M.BREAKS, YELLOWFINGER COMMUNICATIONS, DIRTY DROP RECORDS, RUNE RECORDINGS) - My preferred are the System 2 remix and the techno version of Bejamin Vial, I'll play this 2 for sure!!

CLAAS REIMER (WI:RE, V.I.M.BREAKS, COMPOUND SESSIONS) - the original track is a phat burner for me - simply a great combination of minimal atmospheric acid and electro sound, love it a lot!

CAROL CAMPOS (THE TECH-FUNK SHOW ON FNOOB RADIO) - Love the package! Steve is kicking some serious acid butt! My favorite is by my french friend Ben Vial, awesome remix, top production and all the acids this girl really really likes System 2 remix is very nice also, my second favorite.

Super hot duo Crackerz & Jam are back for another release on Upstart Music & once again they have set up a stormer! They drafted in the vocal talent of Valerie M to help them push their sound forward & have come up with an awesome package with mainstream crossover potential!

Video for the release here - http://www.facebook.com/video/video....36017&comments

‘Hold On’ is another old skool inspired breaks number, the sound that the guys are starting to become known for. Their last effort on Upstart was rated DJ Mag ‘Money Shot’ for April 2010 & this release is a great follow on from that. The boys have enrolled the vocal services of the hugely experienced Valerie M who has worked extensively with the Freestylers over the past few years & was also part of the Lisa Marie Experience. Together they have found a perfect balance between underground & accessible.

On the large remix pack are mixes from The White Riots, Council Estate Super Models, hotly tipped Australian breark duo Datadex & the Dub version of the original.

The White Riots is a sleazy alter ego of a well know act on the scene. He is keeping his identity under wraps for the time being but expect plenty more from where this came from! His remix is a sleazy house re-work but keeping the old skool vibe in tact!

The Council Estate Super Models mix is a very different take on the original with it’s grounding far more in the electro-pop field. It’s a very modern sound and something very different to what we’ve released on Upstart before.

Datadex are better know for their great edits that have picked up support form the likes of Krafty Kuts & Lady Waks. This time they’ve got their official remix hats on & turn in a subby breaks work on a slightly deeper tip than the original which keeps parts of vocal but has an altogether more heads down feel.

With support on this from the likes of DJ Icey, Lady Waks, Aquasky/Black Noise & Future Funk Squad, as well as both Trackitdown.net & Beatsdigital.com making one of their featured breaks tracks it's plain to see why we're mucho chuffed to be bringing this to the masses...

*** Also available at many other good Mp3 stores.

So show us some love & go grab your self a copy!!!

Over & out.... Doug & all at Upstart.

Ben & Lex
'Ruffnecks' Terry Hooligan RMX / Jinx RMX
(Functional)
Release Date Feb/ March

Listen on Soundcloud

Ben & Lex return to Functional with a firing slice of party rocking Breakbeat-Dubstep-Reggae.

From opening the main stage at the Glade festival, winning the 'Best Breaks Dj' and 'Outstanding Contribution To The Breaks Scene' awards at the South West Breaks Awards to their Breakspoll award winning Nuskool Breaks radio show and running their own record label, Ape Music, Ben & Lex could well be the busiest boys in breaks!

Their distinctive brand of bass heavy breaks and dubstep have secured them plays on Radio 1, Ministry of Sound FM, Galaxy FM ,Kiss FM etc, as well as DJ support from all the scenes biggest players and featured on Freq Nasty Breakspoll compilation.

Ben & Lex are true purveyors of bass heavy broken beats; equally at home with a rolling break, half time dubstep and dance hall reggae, always seamlessness blended for our aural delectation. 'Ruffnecks' manages to capture all these elements perfectly, peppered with rousing snatches of ragga vocals, tight rolling percussion, dance hall piano stabs and more squelchy sub then you can shake a stick at. 100% skanking reggae vibes on this dubstep flavoured party beaks number.

With 2 acclaimed albums on Botchit & Scarper under their belts,"Mouth watering beats from the hottest talent around!" The Ticket, Daily Mirror; The dynamic Watford duo Atomic Hooligan are well established as dance music standard setters. AH have graced the FRONT covers of DJ and IDJ magazines, performed live with their 9 piece band at Fabric, officially remixed Underworld. AH turn in a 4/4 tropical broken beat re working, stripping things back on this high octane percus sive workout with hand claps a plenty, rave horns, ragga vocals and truck loads of dirty low end for a tight little funking bum wiggler.

Jinx a.k.a Jinx In Dub has released on Against The Grain, Burrito, Sunday Best, Bassrock and Functional and has worked with Black Canvas and Alien Entertainment and has had huge support all over! Skippy jungle styled breaks are the order of the day here, complete with a heady swathe of atmospherics and an unadulterated, loose yourself in the music breakdown, punctuated by bleeps, ragga vibes, shimmering synth pads on this out and out jungle-tastic raveathon.
