Yeah buy from store dj I reckon. You won't need to send it back to Germany for a replacement if you need to.

Anyone know if NI has done something like this in the past, and whether serato responded by dropping their prices? Ultimately I wanr Serato so I can use the bridge, but this price is just way too tempting.

Serato won't be able to match i'm guessing as they can't factor in the upgrade cost of users buying the new software (inevitably will have to with Traktor?)

Free updates for the life of the product is what they've subscribed to in the past, which is a super deal with the bridge and the FX they've added in the past year.

I don't think NI will do this for another two years or so... jump on it

Why are people saying support Australian stores? Fuck that... Adapt to the times.

StoreDJ etc are such a ripoff. Nothing like a little bit of good old fashioned competition...

maybe because if we buy from local stores then it means more employment for people in the local music industry? plus more money in our own ecconomy, plus it's supporting people who support you...when you have issues with equipemtn or want to hire gear for a party how you going to do that if all the stores have gone out of business becuase everyone buys offshore....

Serato software is free. New versions are free.
The Bridge is free if you have Ableton and Serato. just need to supply them with the serial numbers.

Tracktor? Meh... still like my serato.
Serato is still trying to push that they are a Digital Vinyl System, and with the bridge, you can hook it up to ableton.
There is no sync button on serato!

How is Serato free? Do you really think you are paying $900 for a sound card, vinyl and cds? the bridge is free if you have both serato and Ableton? $1400 not really free?

There is no sync button when your using Traktor as a DVS so there for Traktor is more versatile.

stop trolling dude!

f*cking lol at the stereotypical anti-traktor Scratch Live user; "omfg Traktor has sync, it must be sh*t" when Serato's other DJ product, ITCH, does have sync....

free download. Yes, you need the hardware to control it. Point?

I never shat on tracktor, I like serato as it's only main use is as a DVS. I'm old school ands still play vinyl when I can, hence the preference to Serato

If you already have ableton and serato, (as a large majority in the community do) it's a great little program to throw into the mix if you like doing live shows with both.
it's a bonus.
ITCH is a different program, I'm not comparing that platform to any other.
Hell while we are at it, lets bring in PCDJ or Virtual Dj and comment on that.

Re tracktor Sync, yes it's there! that's my point.

If you want to

You should have said "Scratch Live" then, not "Serato" as they do make more than one app

and what point is that?

p.s as explained earlier sync doesn't actually work under DVS control

fair enuf prjkt, it's just a common assumption that serato now (usually) referred as SSL.
Re the sync, in the end of the day, majority of tracktor users use it with CD's. I'm not saying everyone does (before anyone statrts blasting that comment) but against SSl, there is not that option of using the sync.
I like my vinyl, I like the SSL platform above the tracktor platform. Personal preference.

Have I used both? yes. my preference still lies with the SSL.

sync still doesn't work under CD control either... only under full midi control does it actually lock to the master tempo (does allow for a bit of creativity on decks 3+4 under midi control while using 1&2 under DVS)

I'm still waiting on mine. It's been 2 weeks

But I'm not surprised because from what I've heard, postal services and couriers have been getting like 3 times more workload due to people buying shit from overseas.

Emailed NI asking if they had shipped my pack.. Replied pretty quickly and said they had posted it on the 4/11 and gave me the tracking number used in Germany. Pretty impressed with their customer service!

i got a tracking number in the email that came with my invoice pdf. It was a DHL tracking number, but I was only able to get it to work on the German DHL website.

I've been stuck with my order in transit since 8/11. So supposedly I'm not a victim of the stock running out, but rather insanely slow delivery times.

honestly Auspost is so f'd that i wouldn't be suprised if it took ages.

Does the number start with (letter-letter- 13 numbers - letter-letter) ? eg RR1234567891234DE

if so, thats an international tracking number and you can call auspost and they can track it for you. dont bother asking them to look for it though, all international parcels, its the senders responsibility to investigate missing items

I emailed NI earlier and they basically said that in addition to the 10-14 business days for shipping, due to customs, it can take up to another 3 weeks. Mine was sent on the 28th of October... still waiting. Going to send a nice little email to them tonight.

i just called DHL, and tried to get them to explain where the hell it is. The woman told me, packages from germany take an average of 3-4 weeks, then they are handed to aus post when they reach australia. she gave me a separate code to use with aus post when they get it, but it doesnt work yet so apparently that means it isnt here yet. which begs the question, how the fuck are these being sent? sea mail?
