Hey guys

Somehow a few unconfirmed dates have been published on my facebook events page, by mistake.
The only confirmed dates for February 2011 are:

13th @ Good Vibrations Festival, Flemington Racecourse - Melbourne
19th @ Good Vibrations Festival, Parklands - Gold Coast
20th @ Good Vibrations Festival, Claremont Showgrounds - Perth

Sorry for any confusion and hope to see you at the gigs

Unconfirmed = not to be published until the festival is sold out

Pretty stoked though... didn't want to have to choose between sasha and faithless

Be pretty awesome if it happened.

It'd be even more awesome if it was Sasha AND Faithless.

That's better than Diggers and WOW, imo.

It must of surely of been an accident posting it on Facebook, as I am sure the Good Vibes guys wouldnt want it to be out there till majority of the Sydney festival is sold out.

But, you wouldnt just put some random dates & venue up for no reason. So I would be very surprised if there isnt a sideshow.

just spoke to Sashas manager and it isnt confirmed yet as they are trying to lock in Smokin Joe Mekhael for the warm up, and he has clashes in his schedule as he is playing at the Pig and Thistle in Bega.....

I'm new(ish) to Australia, but where I come from, if you make statements like that in order to sell tickets to your main event and then change your mind, you'd be open to being sued for misrepresentation and would probably have to give refunds to anyone who subsequently decided that they didn't want the main event now the sideshow has been announced.

Not that I'd be complaining personally if either Sasha or Faithless or both do sideshows, as I'm not bothering with GV.

The fine print always stipulates that they can change/alter the acts without any notice blablabblah - they've got themselves covered there. the Eric Prydz no-show of 2 years ago on NYE is a prime example.

Well.. whatever the case.. the Good Vibes people would be crazzzzzzzzy not to put on a Sasha sideshow.
Stick it into a big venue & it will sell out no problems. Add Faithless to it & you might as well find the largest venue in Sydney & they would make a killing. !!!

True but there is no way that we would be able to get anything more than 3 hours at the forum on a Friday especially when the venue shuts down at 2! But even then, 3 hours is better than no sideshow at all!

who knows. strange given the hordern doesnt have a similar restriction.

but yes, imagine 6 hours.

shit like that never happens here though. little wonder parts of the sydney scene are jaded. it's the same old thing - us hoping for something that will never happen :sigh: instead, we seemingly have to make do with whatever half-assed (which we convince ourselves is awesome) option we are limited to.

The Hordern has been around for much longer, I guess different licensing was put in place when either of them opened, or perhaps I'm wrong...

Too true. A personal opinion but I think the dollar makes the decision for many of the bigger promoters in Sydney, which is why we get the same shit.

Hasn't been the same since Sweetchilli left the game. They were in it for all the right reasons and it showed! Some of the best events Sydney has seen was put on by those guys ie. Livewire. Did they have a hand in Sasha vs Digweed too?

Can't believe you guys are still crying about sideshows? He did an intimate club tour a year ago FFS. Just accept the reality of the situation. Promoters spend a shitload of money bringing these guys out for a festival and they wanna protect their investment so they don't go broke, how fucking dare they. The artists know what they're signing on for, blame them as well if you're not getting what you want.

Good Vibes is worth going to this year IMO - how can you turn down the idea of seeing the full-blown Sasha visual setup, and THAT lineup? Good Vibes have burned me before, but I'm gonna take it up the clacker and head along cause Sasha + Faithless + Phoenix + the rest = epic win

It's no doubt a rather tasty line up, but I'd just prefer seeing these artists in a club or at their own show. Some like the festival atmosphere, others prefer what a club gig can only offer.

is it so bad for some of us to prefer the likes of sasha or faithless in more intimate venues rather then a festival?

Sasha's visual show is actually made for a festival, that's the whole point.
http://www.inthemix.com.au/news/aust...ood_Vibrations

We'd all rather see them in an intimate venue a lot of the time, but that's not what they've been booked for. I can appreciate where you're coming from, but the truth is, acts like Faithless are so ridiculously overpriced (and overvalued IMO) that the only way promoters can afford them is to bring em out for a festival and sell around 100,000 tickets around the country instead of 20,000. They really do cost a packet to book (too much IMO). Maybe you should take it up with Maxi and Sister Bliss?

^i think that's the point we're trying to suggest here Angy, that unfortunately, such ideas in Australia - are usually exactly what you've described: pipedreams.

And yes, Sasha did do a club tour about a year ago - and yes it was awesome - but what was it, three hours in a courtyard..? compare that to six hours in the hordern WITH the visual spectacular to go with it..

i understand your financial arguments completely, and that applies to Faithless too, but still, it sucks.

See i'd be more inclined to pay $80/100 to see one act like above rather than $150 for a full festival line up

The forum used to have 24hour license when it was called City Live or something like that... It used to hold RnB Superclub, but then due to heaps of fights and other incidents, it's license got revoked.

Yeah completely agree. I'd pay that for a single Sasha gig as Elliot described.

^ Hell yeah. People will pay that for trance acts (ie. Armin, Tiesto)m, hell even Ferry's gig at the Hordern (which was epic) was $65 or something.. why dont nights like that extend to other genres?

What you're missing is that there are probably not enough punters out there like you to cater to, in order to make that affordable. You think Sasha could sell out the Hordern? Doubt it.

Looking at Faithless, they're just too expensive to bring out and put on solely at a venue like the Hordern. Why do you think it's taken so long to bring em out? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
