Meccanoid & M Division present... I-F & TLR - February 19th @ Wayside
Calling all Cosmic Cars and Spaced Invaders!

After years of scanning, Meccanoid and M Division electroscopes have detected distant pulses and sequential signals from a synthetic planet. Launch your countdown, because interdimensional genre-fusing pioneer I-F, the original electronaut and acid accelerator is pointing his frequencies toward Melbourne at last.

Lovers of the bleep, italo, acid, disco, techno and jacktraxx – prepare yourself to meet the master of the freak beat as Meccanoid regular guest and ambassador of Planet Hague, DJ TLR is this sonic shuttle's co-pilot. Joining them for first contact are M Division's low orbit oscillator NHJ and Minister for Italo Affairs Hysteric. For one night you will be transported to deep space, where man and machine fuse to create future funk - prepare for your alien abduction, electro examination & disco dissection!

19th of February - Wayside Inn, 446 City Rd (Corner of Ferrars St.) South Melbourne
Earlybird (till Jan 31st) $20 - Full price $25 - More on the door - Available from Moshtix

I-f

I-F, short for Interr-Ference, also known as Ferenc, Beverly Hills 808303. Affiliations: Murder Capital, the Hotmix cartel, The Parallax Corporation, the Viewlexx empire, Interdimensional Transmissions, Top Secret/Test Series; ties to Disko B, other covert recording outfits. Pushes product throughout the globe, specializes in stuttering 808s and throbbing basslines, and inspirational to the careers of countless electro acts on the come up. Headquartered in The Hague, Holland, known to have alliances with electro brokers in Rotterdam (southwestern Holland connection), known associate of Unit Moebius, the Bunker Records posse, and other black budget artistic projects.

Unlike the criminal underground that traditional gangsters inhabit where a small, shady organization opposes a larger, more benign government the thugs in I-F's world are the idealists and the establishment is the force trying to kill art. He gets fiery when he thinks about the way large labels endlessly promote the same sounds and muscle around small outfits threatening their regime. "Their fucking job is to sell records, so shut the fuck up and sell records. I'm making them, I take care of the music and I don't want to name labels, but they're selling a lot of shit. Like I've only bought ten, twelve new records this year, because I'm very critical, that's my right to be critical." Major distributors in Germany boycotted his records when they first came out, and he was dissed by the press in his native Holland in the beginning. Now that "Space Invaders" has been included on a few chic compilations and played on the radio throughout Europe, the local lifestyle mags have taken notice and have come knocking. But once you do him wrong, there's slim chance for redemption. "No fucking way am I doing an interview with them now."

His mission is simple: to make people listen to different music. It has lead him to create the disco music side-project The Parallax Corporation, his online cult radio station CBS and its IFM incarnation, and his various labels to sponsor unknown producers. When I-F gets into some gangster shit, know that he's doing it for you, the curious listeners of the world. How many other gangsters have your back?

TLR

As one of the least sought after DJ's on the international circuit, TLR sure has been around. For the past 10 years he's been gracing stages at top clubs on 4 continents, like Panoramabar in Berlin, Batofar & Nouvea Casino in Paris, Womb in Tokyo, Moog & Nitsa in Barcelona, Movement Detroit, Lux NYC, Smartbar in Chicago, D-Edge in Sao Paulo, Melkweg in Amsterdam, Culture Club in Ghent, Bloc Weekend in the UK, Revolver in Melbourne - the list is hundreds long and
boggles the mind. And most of all it begs the question... how in the hell did he weasel his way into all these hot spots? Is it because he has been running the well established and respected underground label Creme Organization for the past 10 years which has been a platform for international acts such as Legowelt, Orgue Electronique, James T Cotton, Alexander Robotnick, Bangkok Impact, A Made Up Sound, Basic Soul Unit, Traxx and dozens of others? Is it because he has been a
self appointed ambassador for the West-coast Sound of Holland? Is it because he was instrumental in bringing the JACK back to the international forefront? Is it because he runs a popular weekly show on the cult station Intergalactic FM? Surely its not because of his eclectic and contrary musical selection and offbeat mixing skills? Or his musical taste? Always too late or too early, but never on time? I mean, how many scene points do you need? Experts are still debating the issue, but in the mean time, we suggest you check him out for yourself and liven up one of your nights with one of the true kings of the West Coast.

I-F @ RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY
Viewlexx, The Hague, Netherlands

The Hague is home to some nefarious night time conspiracies – way beyond war criminals and grievous acts of peanut sauce against fries. I-f is the producer, DJ and founder of the online radio phenom called CBS, that became a spiritual home for electro, library music, techno, house, boogie and italo fiends everywhere. It was I-f’s Mixed Up In The Hague tapes that sparked a worldwide wave of vintage arpeggiated basslines, groovy tail spins and emotional robot tears. His electro anthem Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass spawned many imitators and haunted plenty of compilations. Nowadays planning a new internet radio takeover and also running the podcast and mixtape hub www.robotdj.net, the pirate also runs his Viewlexx label and makes jagged electronics with his mate Intergalactic Gary as the Parallax Corporation. The disco weekend starts here!

Sick party. Really liked that space, great crowd and the F1's played their part well Thought TLR was superb throwing down a healthy dose of acid and I-F pulled off a selection of skillful mixes.

Anyone know what that remix of Thriller was?

Great party! TLR was great!!

When were you buying $4 cans wush? The bar was a bit of a scam - $4 pots when we arrived which turned into $5 pots a bit later on and then $6 pots by the end of the night! Also got stung $8 for a bottle of water.
