Never! I love my avatar. Ok so i've just spent like 2 hours trying to clean this place up. I deleted about 100 threads and merged a few as well. I'm still working out how to use some of my powers so bare with me. If you see any spam or people not following the rules, report them as it makes it easier for me. xoxo

I think all the stickys are a good idea for mixes, releases and local producers, which you've just done. Maybe get the ITM regulars to do a mix and showcase it in a sticky once a month. I don't qualify for a regular, but why not support the peeps that support the forum. Also an introduce yourself sticky is a good idea but can be a bit naff. Vinyl swaps or vinyl hunting thread I think can be pretty sweet too.

Genre Wars - Ollie you start it
Monthly mix thread - people need to actually post AND listen to others. I found (myself included) i'd post my mix, listen to a handful and not visit the thread until the next time i did a mix

alright people i just spent about 3 hours deleting 5000+ old threads. now if you want to go back and revisit some old threads they will be much easier to find. deleted a whole bunch of spam threads. over the next week 'm going to go through every single page and delete all the garbage from years ago.

so... getting this forum going again - let's do it. if any of you older guys know any of the people who used to contribute here ask them to come back! we need to breathe some life into this place.

let's get some battles happening or something.

any ideas people?

Just a thought

I too would like to see this forum thriving
I'm sure a bunch of you older guys are untapped resources of solid house music so it'd be brilliant if it was alive.
Good luck patrickbateman.

It's going to be a struggle to get his going again as house heads these days are pretty segregated whatever people say about musical boundaries coming down. At the moment this forum is dominated by people who fell in love with house in the 90's and they give short shrift to a lot of the current (cool?) stuff.

Why would someone post if their taste is going to get slammed.

I'd like to get historical.

There are certain characters who, and certain scenes which, have a mystique about them. There are also some guys who I don't necessarily get, generally the types that are lauded for what they did more than for what they are doing.

There is nothing more satisfying than finding what you something that validates all of the hype,

Kerri Chandler is always a name I kept an eye out for and it wasn't until I got copies of his Atmosphere EP Vol 1 and the After the Other things for Linda EP that iti all clicked for me. I am sure that there is lost of other gold (Bar A Thym aside) that I just don't have the time or patience to sort through discogs to find.

There are also the hidden gems. For me it is someone like Steve Poindexter who seems to occupy a space behind the main strip but whose music is every bit as brilliant as that of his more high profile acid house counterparts.

A guy like Jamie Principle is another who we should be able to dedicate pages and pages to given that he seems as much of a godfather of house as anyone.

I don't know if there is enough information out there but identifying say the Baltimore or Philly house scenes would be pretty interesting. There are heaps of large cities in and around the great lakes and back towards NYC (not to mention San Fan and LA) that are all parochial and presumably all have their own idea of what house sounds like. Unfortunately the only example I can come up with is DJ Spen, Karizma and the Basement Boys in Baltimore.

I'd also like to hear what it was that people heard that launched Farina, Sneak and Carter into legend status.

Obviously there is no need to limit it to America.

If we pooled out resources there is at least a handful of us who could benefit from the shared knowledge.

As a little taster of the sort of thing I'd like to accomplish check out this acid house workout by Mark Farina made available by the most altruistic dude on the internet.

This may just be the sort of thing that started all of the hype.
