All this talk of lollipops reminded me of those Chupa Chup push up icecreams. A 30 second google search got no pic results though.

This thing is taking me back. Not normally one for nostalgia, but it is quite nice to rememeber I was a wholesome child at some point in my life. I must admit though that I was firmly in the camp of a push-pop rather than a whistle pop. But hey, thats just me, I ain't hating.

The Miraculous Mellops 2 Open Credits (good quailty) - YouTube

also, does anyone remember a show on ABC about some kids that had a flying bus?

a couple of lines from the opening credit lyrics were "boom boom chucka chucka, boom boom" and "we're on a big bus that must not fail/set sail" or something to that effect?

Show used to annoy the living crap out of me.

And the crazy dangerous climbing net/frame they had set up off the side of the mountain which would be a lawsuit waiting to happen in this day and age.

oh shit yeah that was awesome!!!
oh.. that isnt what i thought...
im sure there was a lego centre in the myer centre... at the top level, but any effort to find this "tops" (im sure that was what the top level of the myer centre was called, massive legos, rides... hearing people screaming as you were shopping was awesome...) thing is really difficult...

unless that was never in brisbane?

Lego Center was in Sydney - I just remember Grundy's and magic mountain from holidays.

Grace Brothers (what Myer used to be in Sydney) used to hold a toy expo for a few years back in the 80's, and whilst searching for the lego centre pics they did mention something about a Myer lego building competition in 1984.

I also vaguely remember going to some video games or Nintendo expo at Sydney showgrounds back in those days, playing SMB3 for the first time and coming home with a powerglove.

oh that reminds me of a terrible movie i vaguely remember every now and then about racing mario through
like this kid was really good at it, or something... not donkey kong... mario bros...
2 seconds later...

thought the wizard was familiar...
now, i wonder if i should try and find this and ruin a childhood memory...
at least i am sure this movie was shit

i remember that place from the 80s. it was gone by the time we moved there in the 90. though i was looking for it. they turned the mountain section into apartments. the old school locals still call the apartment magic mountain.

If I recall my childhood there was a Lego Centre or Legoland at the Centre Point tower in Sydney or maybe that was a one off thing.
