Sure he can add cardio in, but as far as fat-loss is concerned, that is just a function of achieving a calorific deficit. Competitive bodybuilders cut down to single figures with little more than fasted walking for cardio.

What eddie is saying is that it is easier and more effective to watch what you eat and cut out bullshit than starting to do cardio. Sure, cardio will increase the number of calories burned but if you're eating a shitload of carbs/drinking coke/eating take away/whatever then you can easily outweight the benefits of any cardio he does.

The other thing is that if he wants to put muscle on and lose fat, if he tries to do it at the same time then it's going to be very inefficient. Muscle building + calorie deficit ain't friends.

and Pete if you're wanting to get more cut or lean, then you are wanting to lose weight - moreso, body fat.

diet is 90% of the issue seriously.

he doesn't have to do RFL, but if he starts to get an idea of how many calories he's consuming/burning/needs to achieve deficit than that's how he can lean up.

talking from someone who does 8 cardio sessions a week - it doesn't achieve fat loss. controlling the diet does.

Here's the thing right, at the moment I'm training 9 sessions per week, I'm gradually cutting some fat, but its a fine balance because my recovery requirements are high. I'm getting a lot fitter and my performance is improving loads.

*but* I could cut more fat, more quickly by doing less exercise and having a bigger dietary based deficit.

(edit - 9 sessions, forgot the long run)

According to this thread I am a stick - I weigh in at 71kg and I am around 5'10 so I am on the lighter side. I have tried unsuccessfully to put on weight. I'm interested in trying some supplements to help with the daily protein intake. I am also coeliac so I am allergic to wheat, oats, barley and rye.

Any supplements that would be beneficial?

Anyway, less morphs, more supplements.

My WPC arrived today and I made a shake with full cream milk, 40g dextrose and 40g WPC about 2 hours ago. Holy balls that stuff fills you up!

Nail-->Head P337. This is exactly what I'm trying to achieve. I dont want to be a body builder, but gaining some more muscle would be good. Im mainly interested in cutting my fat at the moment, but I am worried about the calorific deficit on the muscle building side. Im getting some WPI and thats probably about it.

OK i see how that could look like a dickhead comment. I just heard about HC recently and was looking for some first hand info. Ive looked into it myself pretty thouroughly. I am under no false impression that there is any supplement that will be able to do what solid diet and excercise will. Just askin'.

Will opti-women multivitamins work for me and where can I buy them in 10kg lots?

Here are some keywords for you: glycolysis & ketogenesis

I would suggest Opti-Men, but you can stick with Opti-Women if you prefer.

No.

Talk to le Astro + Eddie. Keto diet = no carbs (<5% energy intake per day).

Eating carbs means your body is using glycolysis, and this eats away at muscle as much as it eats away at fat. Whereas keto simply eats away at fat.

BTW I decided today to cut out booze for a month and boost the cardio training/weights ratio.
Mainly for to see some visual results but also to give the savings account a boost (Canada Jan '12 )

I am 178cm and 66kgs... but whatever i am doing is working, because my lifts keep improving and after just a month and a half my body is noticably different. Maybe its just because im eating better and have basically cut booze out of my diet, so muscles are more pronounced. I have never had fat on my arms or chest though and thats where my best results are so far.

tl;dr: eat well lift heavy and your dreams come true

Also DMPM your post confuses me, what sort of foods have those carbs, and whats that 5g of whatever (on phone cant check the name)

At the moment only taking VP2 protein powder.
Just bought a tub of Pump-bol pre-workout today, so gonna see how that goes.

Last supplement cycle was:
SuperpumpMax - pre workout
Cytogainer - Post workout
Prime - Test booster.

Seemed to work really well and get me good gains
Except towards the end superpump made me feel really sick and gave me superdumps

edit: oh and a multi. Going to get on the fishoils tooo

Awesome stuff

Just be aware that you're experiencing noob gains at the moment. You'll probably never grow at such an exponential rate ever again in your life, so make the most of it while you can, but expect the curve to level out at some point.

Speaking of which, how do you think putting on 15kgs would effect my 100m sprint? Used to be able to run around 12 flat when I was 18.

If that weight came with added power it might not make too much difference...Olympic sprinters often weigh into the 90kgs...

Yes.

100m sprint is mostly anaerobic, innit? Meaning the muscle mass could actually help :interested:

Broadly yes but simply lifting heavy wouldn't work, sprinters do a fuck load of plyometric/power style work

Olympic lifts can help your springting. The hip, knee and ankle all go through flexion, as in running.

sorry dude, but you're just not trying. you need to eat and train with weights. until you do that seriously, forget about the supplements. there is no reason you can't add 7 or 8 kg's with good training and eating consistantly. Supplements cane become very expensive and you won't achieve anything with supplements that you can't achieve with just training hard and eating well and a lot

Linford Christie certainly weighed into the 90s...but now that I think about it, you're probably right

Occasional multi
Daily: psyllium, fish oil, swole shakes.

Just cut creatine from the diet to see if affects water retention. Fish oil works fucking wonders for my joints, swelling that was meant to stay for 12 months after a break has gone in 3, even to the fact I wish there was a little bit of swelling left to stabilise it a little more. Psyllium, need I say more?

Question re having carbs PWO for the insulin spike

Is this recommended for brahs wanting to get swole? I'm not fussed about getting huge but obviously want to get stronger, develop lean muscle. Should I take the carbs with my WPI PWO also?

I usually have my WPI + Dextrose PWO with milk.

If you were to have just WPI and milk PWO that would be ~30-40g of carbohydrates. If you add a scoop of Dextrose into the mix it's closer to 60-70g of carbohydrate (depending on the size of your dextrose scoop).

Milk brings the carbs
