grey goose? you're not doing it right.

I've spent the same amount on a single free pour shot of tequila in a bar in Santa Barbara (Rey Sol Anejo tequila).

I've bought a bottle of beer for more than you paid for that bottle of vodka (Sam Adams Utopias, direct from the brewery)

Sure, that's the finest tequila I've ever had, and the beer was outstanding too.

I'd rather pay $40 for a shot of one of the finest alcohols in existence, than buy ten shitty tequilas and remember nothing except a headache.

Actually, it usually it does. You should try it some time. Obviously if you are mixing it with coke or something then there isnt a real need to lash out and spend the big bucks but if you like drinking your spirits neat or in cocktails etc then it does make a difference. That being said, expensive doesn't always mean better.

I'm a huge fan of Vodka O and its not expensive at all.

Most expensive thing I've bought in a bottle shop would be a bottle Stanton & Killeen 25 year Rutherglen Muscat, $97 for a 500ml bottle. Was worth every cent. Cracked the hundred on a few occasions on wine at restaurants, but nothing too extreme.

Most expensive beer I bought was a stubby of islay whisky barrel aged mikkeller beer geek stout which was around $40

I've spent some obscene amounts on glasses of whisky when I'm three sheets to the wind.

The day we bought the S&K Muscat our local Dan's had a tasting of the annual boutique wine award winners, the muscat had won the fortified category, we tasted it and bought it on the spot. there was also a $100 Cabernet Sauvignon that I was keen to buy, but some rich prick had already walked in, tasted it and bough out the store's entire stock on the spot! Probably close to $15K worth.

not that much... I had a glass of Jameson 18 year on the rocks at Loft Bar once. It cost $16... I've always wondered whether the dude charged me for the 12 year, doesn't seem like much for such quality whiskey.

bought 80 dollar bottles of wine
agwa when it first came out was 70 bucks most places.

ive spent 80 on some strong german schnapps.

ive spent 85 on a bottle of primo malbec grape vodka

im pretty fussy with my alcohol though, i dont drink much but when i do i usually drink for the flavour, not to get drunk, so i dont mind spending a bit more.

Think the most I've spent on a bottle of wine was just over $200. A fair few in the $100/$150 range.

Been lucky enough to drink a lot of wine/champagne costing $300/400+, but thankfully not out of my wallet.

I (hazily) remember paying $60 for a congac after a long boozy dinner but I can't remember what it was, or really what it tasted like other than, 'it was nice'.

I got given a bottle of 30yo scotch worth about $350 I think.

The bigegst waste of money drink I've had was the $9 pot of Asahi from that shitty pub on the corner of Toorak and Punt.

you're right.

but with alcohol expensive *usually* means better, for example :

Grange > Jacobs Creek, for example

Ardberg Supernova > Johnny Walker Red

Sam Adams Utopias > pretty much every other beer in existence

Sure, there are expensive wanky beers like Corona which are shit and people only drink them because of fashion and a general lack of taste, but that's a low end example. There's also plenty of cult wines which are a waste of money. But if you know your product, they are easy to avoid.

For me, it's about $100 for a single malt (about $90 I think) and probably $50 or so for a bottle of wine at a resturant.

I'm guessing the drink you bought before hitting that bus ended up being more expensive, but less enjoyable

Ugh, so wrong it could not be more wrong.

Is it better than no beer at all on a hot summers day? Yes.

Are there a hundred other beers I'd rather be drinking on a hot summers day? Yes

Corona is the worst kind of skunked mexican pisswater and I'd say the only time it would be acceptable to drink it would be in Mexico where it is at least cheap.

Paying exorbitant prices to drink something that average is retarded.

Get some fucking Beast IPA in to ya, now that is hot weather beer.

Corona is overpriced but does sometimes appear an ok option when you are in the city and going to get fleeced no matter what you order...

I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Corona - it is a pretty easy to drink beer on a hot day, doesn't make me as bloated as some of my other fave beers. My Dad always gives me shit about drinking it though "Ruth, if a beer requires a piece of fruit to make it taste better, it's not a good beer" - shut up Dad

The only time I can stomach corona is when I've got loldrugs coming on- the tastelessness of the stuff becomes bearable in that circumstance. And as I don't really do gear anymore I don't drink mexican cat piss now either.

The popularity of Corona can only be explained by the nostrum that a lot of people who drink beer don't like beer very much.

Most expensive beer I bought was a $16 pint of Guinness in an Irish bar in Singapore. It was during Euro 2004 and I was there to watch the Portugal/Holland semi-final - as was everyone else in the pub (so, yeah, the Irish pub was split into a Portuguese side and a Dutch side). I met this guy called Stan who was Indian by heritage but had lived in England all his life (before he moved to Singapore). Stan was on a mission to drink all the tequila in Singapore that night - quite why he had come to the Portuguese section of an Irish pub to do that, I don't know but it was very amusing to watch.

So as you can see, not only were those pints the most expensive I've ever bought, they were also the most multicultural.

Oh fuck, never thought I'd forget about that. 15 euro for a smirnoff and sprite at a time when the exchange rate was 2:1.

That was an expensive round
