You'll be fine - you've put in the hard yards for the previous 4 months and have dogged fuck all of your training when some days the weather made it the easier option.

Now you get to see what all that time gets you, you can put it all out there, get to the finish running on empty with nothing left to give because for the next week or so you don't have to lace up your shoes, just eat and recovery (or in your case, get on a longhaul flight lol)

i'm definitely out of contention, sucks to be me. there's a brisbane marathon in august, but not looking likely either.

Cheers guys.

Body seems to want to fall apart at the moment. Weird things happening with feet & nerves in legs. The next 2 weeks will be a nice break for them.

Stress levels for other reasons have been through the roof.

Off to Hawaii for 2 weeks after the marathon. At this stage anyway.

Rancho, that really sucks.

I've been feeling pretty beaten up too, but I think that is the way the 'peak' works. ie, push it to the edge and then taper back and your body is all 'haha I've got this motherfucker'

Skipping my first long run tomorrow. Was supposed to be 24km with the last 12km at marathon pace, then 2 weeks of proper tapering, but I'm getting some clear warning signs that I need a break.

I'm taking it a little easy for the first six, then kicking it up.

Reasoning being is the 7th click seems to be where I hit my distance groove.

It's going to be a bit weird going from winter running to 33% humidity & needing to keep electrolytes in balance.

The half marathon I ran had sports drink, but they'd watered it down so much that I'm not sure it was of any benefit. I hope they don't skimp at this one.

Start sweating = fizzing at the compression pant slit.

My electrolyte tablets are effervescent, like Berocca. I was thinking of taking a couple with me & having one before the start.

I ran 40ks with 3 gels and tap water yesterday. So I am just taking 3 gels, one of them being the fancy gu gels

Do you wear compression pants? They usually have a little slit in them for a key, etc. Enough to squeeze one or two gels into. I'll be stuffing the extras into my bra on the day.
