Thoughts on upcoming grand slam? I really don't see the hype around Tomic. It's not that I don't like him (I hate him), but his game is very ordinary.

My 2 cents on tennis.....

1. The screaming/yelping/wailing noises coming from the women's arena are so annoying that it puts me off watching those matches entirely.

2. I know a S&C coach who toured with Tomic for 12mths and by the end of that time said he couldn't stand the little shit, because well he was a little shit. It sucks that Australia's last two premier men's singles players have all the personality, class and grace of a turd milkshake.

3. Neither of the above 2 negativities will overshadow the epic men's game at present with the top guys quite evenly matched. Andy Murray can go eat a fart but I'm hoping Tsonga and Del Potro will fire and perhaps cause an upset somewhere along the way in the top 3.

Just ducked into work caf to spend next hour watching tomic punish Fernando.

He will be world number one in 3-4 years, best talent we have had in my lifetime.

i disageree VB. he may have the talent, but theres absolutely no way he'll tone down his cockiness. did you hear his pre match interview? he's an arrogant little prick. and he's australian. thats a recipe for disaster.

out of interest how long ago was that? from an outside perspective he seems to have matured a bit, when he was younger it was more of his father talking than him..

Definitely agree. He is going to be a gun. I just hopes he builds momentum in the early rounds and rattles the big boys in the 2nd week.

I think it was all of 2009 or 2010 or thereabouts. You'll note that I'm not talking about arrogance or anything like that. People can be arrogant but still likeable. The report that I got was that he basically acted like a spoilt little brat the whole time. Maybe he will grow up and I hope he does because he really is playing world class tennis at his present stage of development and he will definately reach top 5 barring serious injury. Djokovic is only 5yrs older so it remains to be seen whether Tomic will be able to get to #1 though.

IMO you have to be arrogant to reach the top. he might not be everyones cup of tea but with a full year or two on tour he's going to be a beast of a player.

if you were watching you should be able to admit he was quitting. he had zero effort in his shots, he wasnt attempting to get to them, no passion, he just looked like he didn't care. like i said, it only took one game and 2 mistakes for that to change.
