Drinks prices in WA?
Hello all,

Soon to be moving to WA and wondered if you could give me a view on how much drinks are?

An average bottle of larger in a club?

A bottle of wine in a bar?

Has cider taken of at all, as I really enjoy an apple or perry cider but could never find one when living in Sydney in 2009.

no that's most pubs.

bottle of wine probs about $30 & up

also, I'm not sure that cider is all that widespread in kalgoorlie

I know it was costing me $6.50 for a stubbie of Stella at a mate's birthday party at one of the local pubs. I couldn't bring myself to drink the stuff they had on tap.
You can't help that. We're all mad here

bottled beer in a club - prob looking at about $8.

some of the newer bars like the Aviary charge $10 for a schooner (425ml)

more reason to drink at home where possible

Perth drinks and food prices are more expensive than fucking Tokyo (notoriously expensive). Sucks to be us.

There's a mining tax somewhere in the drink prices, for certain.

Western Australian Margaret River wine is cheaper in NSW than Perth.

But the truth of the matter ain't the mining industry, rather it's the zero gambling facilities available in the WA bars and pubs, and therefore 80% of the revenue that the other states pull through the poker machines and race betting rooms simply ain't there, hence the 10 buck pints.

Sadly, it's the Woolworths Fresh Food People that owns the majority of pubs in Perth, and then the bottleshops, and really couldn't give a fuck who they rort.

That might be the difference between east coast club prices and Perth prices, but even cocktail bars in Canberra aren't as expensive as Perth seems to be.

two words - mining boom

its a two tiered economy here

those that work in mining and those that do not
