299/207 x 100 = 1.44

Terry is a **** but the reason the FA haven't done anything previously is because of the court case. Does no one understand that?

I understand their argument and it's bullshit. When a cop is on a criminal charge they're suspended on full pay pending the result of the investigation / trial. The same approach is entirely appropriate in this case without prejudicing the trial in any way. By keeping him on it adversely affects the case more IMO by keeping it in the news. In addition you'll find the tension within the national team will be out of control.

He's not a cop though. Look I don't want him as captain of England, I don't even think he's the best centre back that we've got but the reasons the FA haven't acted was because of the court case. He isn't getting special treatment because he's John Terry (no one fucking likes him here) or because he plays for Chelsea. And Suarez wasn't banned for 8 games because he plays for Pool it was because he made a racist comment that was proved after a full review the likes of which Terry's comment will be subjected to in due course.

I know he's not a cop obviously but I'm using it as an example since IMO the parallel is there. This is a representative position and he shouldn't be filling it while this case is underway. I'm not suggesting he should be suspended by his club, that's a private matter between him and his employer but a representative position is different. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree

We can both agree that he's a **** and England are better off without him.

100% the right decision imo. Stripping him of the captaincy doesn't prejudice his trial and it doesn't preclude him from selection, it simply says that the FA believe he is innocent until proven otherwise but as a consequence of the charge he's facing they can't have him as their figurehead and spokesman for a major tournament, and all the media engagements that entails, until the case is resolved.

It's a ballsy move by the FA, especially considering they blindsided Capello making the decision, but it's for the better of the team. It would have been the elephant in the room every time he was interviewed as England captain all through the tournament and something drummed up by all the tabloids.

The big question is since Ferdinand is vice captain, will he take the armband? There's a real irony in that.
