Not really feeling the call of content with repeating last years line up..well except for Perfect Stranger. If we're going for repeats then bring out an equally as epic live act as Extrawelt or equally as epic set as what Michael Mayer can spin. We've had enough of the likes of Max Cooper and Phil Kieran and I'm keen for subsonic to keep things fresh. The names mentioned above from Zenon and that direction would be epic, the crowd at the river stage would get right in to it.

If Subsonic is going to stay big on the prog/techno tip which I'm sure they will..then stay in line with the quality of D&D and AGCG like last year, ditch SQL and get SLM instead

With this being only 3 weeks after the biggest and best outdoor festival Australia has ever seen (Eclipse 2012) I would say there would be more than a smorgasbord of artists out there to choose from. Lets hope we see some of those in the SS lineup

yes. Khainz in for Strawberry Fields but i don't know if he will linger 2 weeks after the festival for Subsonic (even if he's supposed to be doing an after-party a week before Subsonic. time will tell)

Khainz was 3-4.30pm & Quivver finished it for last 2 hours.
Henry Saiz was really spot on this year.
one of the better ones for 1/2 decade, as agreed by many
(DJ Three with Antix/Fiord once. Minilogue another time and also D-Nox were better than Khainz)

(German Sparkle remix! )
so much sparkle gold coming from down under, that Subsonic really needs an act like Circuit Bent, alongside Opiuo, The Mollusk, Spoonbill, Staunch, Sun In Aquarius, Mr. Bill and Mental Extensions.

would like to see Extrawelt, Minilogue or even Trentemoeller on the Subsonic line-up.

I might make it this year, if not for the whole weekend, at least for a day or two.

That Jon Convex gig was mental. It was the only time my fake ID ever worked hahahaha. So much fun, got really drunk and ran around OAF shouting "Jon Convex is the best DJ in the world"

Out of interest, how many more tickets do you guys plan on selling this year, compared to last year?
We hope to sell 50,000 tickets this year
WOW.. That's a lot. Is there even enough camping space to fit 50,000?
What was there last year, 15,000?

Lol, you're such a whinger, Gowmwesh! Did you get a cheap ticket yet?

I think Marco was joking earlier about the 50 000

So 50k would represent solid growth then.

lol I though that figure was kind of fishy.

To be honest, I would like it to stay around the same size as we had last year.
I can understand Subsonic wanting to increase the amount of people by a couple of thousand.

I guess enjoy these couple of years while the festival is relatively unknown & small still, before word gets out & we start getting the "Future" crowd.

Hmmm true. I guess I meant more the numbers rather then the 'type' of people.

Anyway, really looking forward to it this year. Sucks tickets have already been bought, because it's now a LONG wait till the awesomeness & Falaful pockets are back.

t_e,
unless you drive a company leased car and want to stack up the kilometres
(without much concern for carbon-footprint), zig-zagging from VIC to QLD to VIC to NSW and back to VIC, all in the space of 4 weekends is pretty crazy!
fly to QLD, come back to VIC.
peel off the sun-burn.
go to Strawberry.
return back & care for the mosquito bites.
2 weeks later, drive up to Subsonic.
return back & wonder about QLD or VIC or NSW....which state knows how to festival?

2013 = repeat.

Put a bit of 'rinse' (wash) in there and you're winning

My impression of SS is to try remain what is technically a 'boutique' festival, not in being exclusive, but keeping a sustained number of people where it feels intimate and communal. I see this as the case when I look at the people, line ups and the aurroundings, it all seems to mesh together to bring that enviroment together. I reckon there's growth for the 5000 mark etc, but it's a hard task trying to keep the logistics and infrastructure to accomodate the numbers, especially since the capital outlay, is still no doubt exceeding the returns (ticket sales etc).

I don't think the Felafel man can cope with 50 000 people

Btw...a lot of those vendors have FB pages, you should show them some love too!

Personally I hope the festival dosent grow at all. The amount of people last year seemed perfect.

To Subsonic - Why do you guys want to grow the festival? Is it not possible to make it profitable for the size that is? Surely you could realise what makes it so amazing is how small it is?

I think to ask the question, you need to pose it correctly, exchanging the idea of 'profitable' to 'sustainable' rather.

I'd be happy with Max Cooper making another appearance. More than happy.

That being said, I've no doubt they'll get it spot on again.

(Would love a little more on the production side on the main stage though. Time to dazzle us Subsonic.)

Reckon Adam Bayer would be awesome! As would Tom Cosm, Grouch, Carl Cox, or Merkaba.

Being a Canberran, I reckon a few of our top techno guys including Choc St Clair, Loose Cannon, and Gabe Gilmour would go down really well also. (I'd personally love a set at SS, but that's probably unlikely just yet...)

I reckon it needs another 2 thousand or so people anyway. Just to add a bit of atmosphere at the stages at certain times. I imagine it would make a substantial difference to the bottom line too.

The potential for growth is something in your hands...introduce a friend to the festival!

Make it your mission to bring an SS virgin along. The way I see it (for any and every gig) - if you love it so much, share the experience, having more mates, can only improve the quality of your time there (hopefully).

This. We are bringing along 1 hopefully 2 or 3 Subsonic virgins... They will be amazed!

oi oi. So I know there is some time before the next subsonic but a quick question. is the event little kid friendly? Like 11 month old kid friendly? Or would the missus and I pretty much be the worst parents in the world bringing the little guy?

Were a few kids last year below the age of about 4 or 5 I would say. Bit of a family camping trip I guess.
Personally, I don't think it's a great environment for kids, up to the parents I guess.

just bring ear muff for them, quite a few people i know took their kids along and had a ball. as long as you guys arent getting trashed i dont see a problem

i'd suggest trying to get a cabin as campsites might be a bit noisy (unless you get their early and get a good spot.
