going backwards and fast. in my effort to look like a super ripped ufc welterweight fighter, i think i've managed to lose mostly muscle while retaining all my fat. i have zero strength right now and i look like a fat dude whos been stuck in a cave for a month or so.

Whats the go with running on a treadmill? I don't get splinto on it,

How much easier is it? I seem to be able to maintain 5min/k pretty easy on it, is that the same as maintaining 6min/k in the real world?

i assume you have more impact cushioning on a treadmill which would reduce likelyhood of le splinto. as for speed, not sure how accurate they are, plus they don't account for wind/air resistance, terrain et al.

How long are you walking/jogging/running for before weights?


I find it better off to just to a set or two of light/body weight and high reps as a warm up... actually targets/warms up the muscle you're using..

Peaker, I have a dirty, dirty confession to confess.

I did my entire Couch to 5k training on a treadmill. Chuck the incline on 2 & get it done. It's a great intro to running, ensures that weather, etc doesn't stand in your way & is easier on your joints. After you have 5k under your belt then worry about proper running imo.

One of the elites in last years City to Surf did her training on a treadmill.

Baseline: ROM Drills. 2 rounds: 22 x Wall Ball, 22 x hang pwr snatch (45# bar), 22 x Overhead squats (45# bar), run 400.

Strength: Work up to 2RM Power Clean - got 85kg no troubles, got 1 rep @ 90kg then a callous started hurting so i bism'd any further attempts

Stamina: Chipper, not timed: 10 x PC @ 80kg, 122 x DB Clean & Press (2 x 15kg), 1000m Farmers carry 2x24kg KBs

ran out of time to do the work capacity (522 tuck jumps!) spewing because i was amped to finish the whole thing

About 5-6 mins all up, but I still do a warm-up set for each general body area. Like just b4 I did, 5 mins running, then 1 set of 10 squats (bar only) then went straight into 3 "work" sets of 5 reps(still pretty light as I'm trying to get my form really good/steady),

then after DB Lunges, I moved onto shoulders so did a set of 10 presses with the bar only, before moving onto 3 sets of 5 reps @ working weight etc.

Nah the callouses are actually from the barbells, well the ones on my palms are anyway, the ones on my fingers are from tradie stuff too. I guess the palm ones are from tradie stuff as well come to think of it.
