so i was thinking, being that i have nearly 4 months to train until the gold coast marathon.... maybe i'll be able to do a double half marathon instead of just a half.

i, like everyone else, blame eddie.

15km weekly long run @ 6:37 min/km - oh lawd, the pain. The middle 5km of this run was fucking torture, I was cramping up like a motherfucker and just generally having a shit time, I really, really wanted to pack it in. It took all I had to keep pushing through. As so often is the case, I came good and quite enjoyed the last 5 clicks home. ended up only 11 seconds off my best, serves me right for slacking off this week I suppose.

Dude, you don't need to worry about how fast you do your long run. It's about getting time on your feet, nothing more. The problem with the Garmin is that you tend to look at it and go "OMG, that km took me X:XX!" On the long run, I recommend turning off everything but distance and maybe time. Take it easy and enjoy, don't race!

I wasn't worrying about the time, it was more a commentary on the fact that the middle part was excruciating and slow, but I ended up being not that much slower overall than the last time I ran that course/distance.

Well, I've given my UD one a pretty thorough workout now and I've only positive things to say. The rubber nipple lids seem a bit odd at first, but once you get used to them, they are mint. So If the one you've got leaks, I'd return it.

It's okay glenn, one day you might be confident enough to wear just compression shorts or a running belt.

5km run
500m swim

Need to grab a Garmin to check my times but the run felt like it was at a decent pace. I really need to push it out to 7km run to complete the bayrun and then follow it up with a 1000m swim.

The swim felt awesome though, such a good workout after a run. Beautiful day in Sydney too, we needed one.

@middy..... yes case of mistaken identity. No dis intended towards you whatsoever

@panda, ja, mobility isn't too good round them parts, but flexibility is one of a number of things that affect mobility. Entire posterior chain is relatively tight (not shocking) but its gonna take some work if I ever want to overhead squat anything more than a broomstick!

Hang on.. isnt mobility just enough rom to execute a movement with bio-mechanical integrity while flexibility is the ability to take a joint through - and potentially beyond - its full rom. eg those gymnast.circ du soleil girls that can twist themselves into a pretzel and growl themselves out at the same time?

Me too, but pace yourself. Take it 50m at a time and see how you go. It's a good way to minimise the lactic acid build up, assuming you're not going at race pace or something. That's why I've always liked swimming because you feel like you're both exercising and relaxing at the same time.

Also please do it at a pool where there's lifeguards, rather than at a beach or something. The last thing you want is to cramp up in the ocean

Lol. Yeah I'm fine with 50m at a time - anymore, my form goes out the window and I get diminishing strength in my strokes.

I really dunno, but admit it panda, you just wanted to insert "growl themselves out" somehow into a sentence that you could post on ITM?
