Yup, rode out the initial spell in the morning session and then Chef and Ronald eased us to the win.

Lols.

So apparently the IPL final was last night. Did anyone watch this season at all?

Don't think it was on one anymore, otherwise I might have indulged in a few games. The format is a bit forced now I think, there is perhaps too much buying and selling of players. I have no idea who plays for who anymore.

Waqar interviewing for McDermott's vacated position as bowling coach. Couldn't think of a better coach for bowlers like Patto, Siddle, Cummins, etc.

Looking to go to Europe next year and want to go to an Ashes test, I went to Nottingham and had a great time in 05, some great banter in the crowd and lots of outfits... Tossing up between Lords and the 3rd test at Old Trafford, has anyone been to Lords, spirtual home of cricket and all but is the crowd a bunch of toffs? Want a repeat of Nottingham and all the abuse we copped/gave back... Cheers!

Saw the Australia v Pakistan test a few years ago at Lords. Its ok, but with more of a crowd it would have been better.

ditto dude. I'll be over there.

Good luck getting any tickets to Lords for the Ashes. I've heard it's prob not the best option anyway - guessing the most expensive and fuck all atmosphere.

Was checking prices the other day. It's like 170 quid for Day 3 up at Old Trafford. Imagine the prices for the games closer to London!

I'm either going to gun for Trentbridge or the Oval. The Oval would be sick if the series was still on the line but not sure it's worth the risk.

What do people think on the new contracts for next season?

Cutting from 25 down to 17 is epic. Clarkey's happy though as it looks like he gets to pocket the difference

It's good in that they are concentrating on a set number of players but bad in that they won't have as many others putting pressure on right behind them in the pecking order (as such - don't know what the sitch is with people representing Aus if not contracted...)

So I heard the apparent full story behind the Katich and Clarke bust up. Safe to say CA and everyone else wouldn't want it out in the open.

They don't have to be contracted to play for Australia. CA contract just means they need to derive their income from other sources.

Re the almost punch up in the dressing room at the SCG? Pretty sure it's out in the open, Stuart Clark was quite open about it when interviewed at a lunch thing I went to

Basically said Katich got shafted from that and he would never get picked if Clarke was in thr team

He wasn't open about the whole thing because he can't be, the shit would hit the fan.

I've heard what Katich apparently said to make Clarke grab him by the throat. It ain't what's been printed. And you can understand Clarke's actions in light of it. But the truth getting out would hurt him the most.

Wanna try verify it though. Will speak to some sports journos. Def wouldn't wanna post it and be tracked down by CA legal for defamation.

Oh yeah, Cummins is the only virgin to play for Australia. That was a funnier tidbit I got. They called him "virgin" in the dressing room in South Africa lol.

^ that's true.

whatever it is it's about the bad blood with Clarke, Symonds and Katich. The story seems to have been written about a bit in forums.

Damn rain...

Hughes, Khawaja and Hauritz bailing NSW is interesting. Don't think it will impact NSW too badly though

Hughes could score a gazillion runs next season with Adelaide Oval being home deck

I can understand most selections to a degree but seriously, why the fuck Steve Smith is even on the radar hurts my brain. The bloke is shithouse.

Terrible technique and completely ineffective. It's just ridiculous.

He must be sucking off someone important.

And why on Earth was he batting before Wade. That brainfade run out from Wade lost the game for us, him and Clarke look set to win it at that stage. Lee almost pulled it off but he shouldn't have had to.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not give a shit about anything but test cricket?

Over the years I have loved all forms of cricket, but these days nothing gets my interest unless it's test cricket.

Am I a cricket elitist?

This match is confirming once again, we can't afford to have both Lee and Johnson in the same team and expect to win matches consistently. Pissing runs and not taking wickets.

God we are sucking.

Forrest (shit) and Bailey (below par and old) are nothing selections.

Still not sold on Warner. Way too inconsistent

Wade is 24 and should be the gloveman for the next 6 or so years in all forms of the game.

Whilst Australia have underperformed, the home bowling has been exceptional. How long England can keep Finn out of the Test side is an intrigiung one. Also, bell and Chef appear to have sorted out the opening partnership conundrum for a while.

He is a fantastic glove man, but keepers need to score runs at at least 40 in test, 30-35 in odi (depending on spot) these days.

and Wade has only played 20 one dayers... give the guy a break. Usually reserve judgement on a one day record until they've played upwards of fifty games.

I reckon Tim Paine will end up back in the test team after he has some time to find form in Shield cricket.

also re: non test cricket - haven't given a shit for a while now

Oddly enough, I'm quite enjoying the pyjama stuff, albeit that's a function of us having a handy squad and drubbing the old enemy. We've got a fair way to go before we even the ledger, mind.

Meh, we havent played in a while. We're just not good enough to rock up and win series after extended layoffs anymore. Plus England are probably the hardest team to beat at home nowdays

And our bowlers seem to be made of sticky tape. Seems the Australian physio team have spent a summer learning off essendon
