Yeah but Wow is a top down game with little reliance on collision mapping and even then it does a fucking terrible job of it as anyone who ever fell through clipping and wiped an entire raid can tell you.

Compare that to a blink spell in that game that is set from a first person perspective where doors, walls etc have environments behind them that you can warp to allowing you to circumvent traps or blockages. Hopefully it means that all buildings in the game will have interiors that you can blink through compared to most games where most of the real estate is simply decoration.

It's streets ahead of WoW and the only things the blink spell from WoW and the Blink spell from Dishonoured having in common is the name and general concept of the ability both of which are ripped from D&D's blink spell.

Surely you can see the difference between what is essentially a 2 dimensional game (with a few pockets of 3D areas) and a full 3D game where all (or at least more) of the real estate is used. If they have actually made all the buildings explorable instead of the typical only important buildings have interiors it's a massive step forwards in game design.

Whether or not it's just hype is a different story however.

So last night I saw that Bethesda have done a tie-in iOS game for Dishonored called...wait for it...Rat Assassin. It's bad. SO bad. Like a Chinese hack job Fruit Ninja clone with...yep...rats. Worth downloading for LOLs but nothing else. What a wasted opportunity. It's not as if the GAME OF THE YEAR 2012 needs more hype.
