Mad Racket proudly presents
TORNADO WALLACE (Melb/Delusions of Grandeur/Instruments of Rapture)
Saturday April 28th
Marrickville Bowling & Recreation Club

Mad Racket presents Melbourne’s Tornado Wallace aka Lewie Day, a young DJ and producer who has already cemented a serious reputation amongst deep house and disco aficionados worldwide. His releases, on distinguished labels Delusions of Grandeur and Instruments of Rapture amongst others, tread the line between house, Detroit techno and disco, and have gained props and plays from Andrew Weatherall, The Revenge, Matthew Dear, Tim Sweeney and many more.
Lewie has also become an in-demand DJ, with home-town residencies at Animals Dancing, C-Grade and Revolver Upstairs. His breezy mix of deep house, techno and disco has also recently been heard at some of Europe’s most prestigious venues, including Plastic People (London), Watergate (Berlin), Sub Club (Glasgow) and Space (Ibiza). We look forward to him bringing the storm to the dancefloor under our customised copper ceiling.

Also playing platters that matter will be the Racketeers Four: Ken Cloud, Jimmi James, Zootie and Simon Caldwell.

Tickets $30 inc. GST+ b.f. from:

Could have sworn I posted a reply?

One of the most diverse crowds with new faces I've seen at Racket in ages, spanning the spectrum of ages too. From really young girls who look like they work the counters at Boost Juice, to some old faces - no seriously, there was an 80-something year old grandfather there. He danced with my missus!

Tornado Wallace played a decent set, but when the Racket boys got back on, I nearly forgot that there was a headliner. Simon just took the energy levels up a few notches (something a mate lamented, he'd wish had been done earlier in the night) and then I got a bit nervous when I saw Jimmi stepping up, and turned to a friend and said Ken would be better to mix from these tracks but fuck me, within 30 seconds I was proven wrong, Slamming! Tornado Wallace also jumped back on, and showed that he was more than capable of keeping the pace up, despite having a more downtempo set earlier.

The morning wrapped up as it usually does, with people braying to simon for 'one more tune', while the lights are up full, sun has cracked and security begs people to please leave....

That was really fun - a shame that I had to leave early, but it was great to catch up with everyone for a late night boogie!

Shame I missed Tornado Wallace, he was brilliant when he played at Bare Essentials towards the end of last year. Classy, yet fun disco and a broad range of classic house sounds quite well put together..

Good party. Had too much fun, as always. Agree on the crowd being diverse, can't be a bad thing though - they were all into it which was awesome.

Awesome as always.
And I swear I heard an Erik Travis track in there towards the end [which would be double points awesome].

at the announcement

at the bowlo?

I don't go to be in the VIP area.. I don't need big breaks, a big song with a buildup and lights and smoke.. all you need is a kickdrum and a good bassline. You don't need any of that other shit. Na, I'm not going for none of those reasons.. I'm just going for the music.
