Signed UK DJ looking for residencies 2013
Im a 23 year old house DJ from London, signed to Fat Boy Slim's - Southern Fried Records.

Im thinking about moving to Sydney early 2013, and looking at sorting some residencies out there. Ive played all over the UK, at many of the renowned clubs...Also at festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Outlook, Secret Garden Party and more. Ive also played in many other countries such as Thailand, Barbados, France, Croatia, Germany.

Get in touch if you or someone you know can help, I can send a full CV, mixes, interviews, magazine articles etc.

Thanks
G

how many friends can you bring each night?
I'm a DJ, I push the volume up to 10

put it this way Sydney has about 50-60 clubs (about 10% of those are actually decent), and about 1000 djs.
you do the maths.
its all who you know in Sydney

but, just by guessing what you play id suggest contacting jam music. they run a club called chinese laundry who have a lot a differnet djs play weekly. thats a start

I can get you a gig but it requires you to DJ without a shirt on.

Are you cool with this?

^ I reckon he is hoping for something a little more prestigious than your bedroom.

I appreciate the helpful comments.

It won't let me post links because i haven't been a member for 2 weeks, so i have put it into words.

My sound cloud is soundcloud [dot] com/kashii

And you can check 2 recent mixes here:

soundcloud [dot] com/earmilk/earmilk-presents-weekend-5

dazeddigital [dot] com/music/article/12634/1/kashii-exclusive-mix

I get what you're saying regarding local DJs wanting the same residencies etc....but its no different to London, in fact its probably harder to get shows over here. But once you've proven you know what you're doing and can smash up a party unlike 70% of people who say they are a "DJ" then the hype quickly gets about.

Have a listen to the bits, and if you can give helpful advice, contacts etc please get in touch. I can also send a full CV as i mentioned, so you can see my extensive experience in the industry.

Cheers

Skimmed through your Dazed mix... Not bad mate - try hitting up places like Spice Cellar and drop in your promo CD and bio shouldn't be too hard to get a gig!

to be honest you dont have much chance landing a residency just from you CV and soundclouds. You need to physically be here to network.

What this old man said..

Sydney is all about networking and not being annoying when trying to get gigs.. It's like trying to bang a bird.. You can't just shove it in.. You need to wine her and dine her and sing sweet nothings into her ear (if that doesn't work give em a couple of pills or share some coke with em), and then after a while - give them your mix tape and hopefully you'll get lucky

If you wanna get gigs maybe you should actually turn up and support the people and clubs that you wanna get gigs at. This goes a long way and I think being a DJ is as much about supporting the scene you're into as it is getting your own shit out there...

What Ben said..

Get your ass out on the dance floor and to as many kick on as you are invited to or host and also please do not put your own event on just to get gigs.. We do not need more events in Sydney..

bit hard to go to sydney clubs when the dude lives in London.

but its true, once you arrive in Sydney, you need to do the ground work. like i said just sending your bio and a link to soundcloud wont do much initially.

Bullshit. I've been going to parties for 5 years and I haven't got anything out of it (aside from some fun times & friends). Most parties are about having 1 international and a couple of the same supports every weekend. Then most local nights are just some friends of the promoter, djs who are shit yet seem to get gigs everywhere. Promoters aren't looking for any actual new talent or anything interesting.

Saw a promoter/DJ play a ridiculously peak time warm up set last w/kend leaving the 2 internationals I had paid to see seem underwhelming...but that is probably for another thread.

Unfortunately thats standard world-wide practice...Thats why promoters/clubs should spend that little bit more on decent warm ups who know their shit...rather than a mate who has just started "djing". Get it all the time over here aswell :s

That wasn't the same dj/promoter who gave himself a 3hr set, then proceeded to use turntables with traktor sync?

i presume your talking bout advanced human?
considering he is a world renowned hard techno artist ....it sorta isnt his fault[being put on before etc]....maybee he would have been better suited to finish the night.

Advanced Human is his "deep techno" alias. He was supposed to play after Fengler but had a hissy fit so I swapped and let him warm up instead.

He was told on a number of occasions prior to the gig, he wasn't the headliner and had to warm up accordingly. He proceeded to open his set with Planetary Assults System at 133 bpm, and was asked on 4 occasions to take it back and not play so hard, to the point he got the shits with Ben and myself.
