No Frills with Nico Stojan (Bar25/Kater Holzig/ Berlin) // Sat 5th May // One22

No frills, no fuss, no over hype, nein overbites, jaw chewing teethgrind, tomcat harrassing, woody burning techno fun times....

Whilst No frills isnt giving a f*ck it is giving you a damn damn cheap foreray into the depth of a dirty long night that sounds like you should have gone home days ago. We arent pushing profit making presales to your purse, you can even consult your coin jar for this one.

Taking one for the team we giving you a chance to to get to techno town with a no frills special guest, resident at the infamous mess bucket that is Kater Holzig, which in itself was draged from the puddle of munt that was Bar 25, Herr Nico Stojan.

Joining the underground embelishment for this litte tech- soirie are heads from Sydney family of likeminded party bastions; the irepressable Marcotix & MSG from the acclaimed Subsonic crew, what the heck Chemistrys Jordan Deck, and Shrugs boss beard Dave Stuart.

All for a No Frills $10 b4 11pm, $15 after....at Sydney’s new favorite dungeon One22.

Nico Stojan - Bio

2009 saw the launch of Nico Stojan into the stratosphere of house music as he found asylum in Berlin's legendary late bar 25, where he joined the crew by becoming a resident with his jazz, hip-hop and soul infused sounds. Continuing his residency in bar 25's offspring KaterHolzig, Nico remains a big name on the Berlin underground and not-so-underground scene, playing in such clubs as Cocoon, Watergate and Panoramabar, as well as for the Bachstelzen parties and Fusion and Sonnemondsterne festivals.

Being in the game for more than half his life and getting a residency in his first club when he was sixteen, means that Nico was a child of the now nearly-extinct vinyl era. Nico acquired a keen sense of control over the tracks played in a set; a fostered respect for the values and skills found only in the teachings of working with vinyl. He believes that although we live in modern times and can ride with and enjoy its technological advancementsm.

Asides from his DJing Nicos productions include projects with Andri, Niconé and Philip Bader. Nico has releases on labels such as Highgrade, Stil for Talent, Connaisseur, Natural Rhythm, Kindisch, Bar25, Katermukke and Lexy and Philip Bader's label Dantze. He is also part of the UponYou and URSL label family.

About time the *No Frills* brand was resurrected!

And props for slipping in an international under the radar for a mere 10 crabs - a refreshing change from the excessive 'bells and whistles' promo(& accompanying cover charge) that usually accompanies the coming of an out of towner. This will be a good night.

Used to be. They changed their name to Haunted Science.

Had a fun night, enjoyed Jordan's set, and Matt Weir (I think it was him who played before Nico). Hearing Nina Kraviz - Ghetto on a decent system was good times. Nico played what I expected him to, and got into it.

Coming down from Brisbane, it was great to see a busy dance floor from a very early stage and for it to be that way all night was a good thing.

First time I had been to One22, nice room, decent sound and dark which suited the music that was playing. Would definately go again, will say but some more air flow through the room would be nice. Was stale as in there.

Thanks Subsonic, everytime I come down for one of your parties it always seems worth the effort.

PS to whoever it was who was farting all night on the dance floor, you are disgusting. Next time please don't eat curry eggs before going out.

Oops, wasn't even close hahaha. He played an interesting set. Would be very keen to know the name of the track with the "Wwwwhhhhhhaaaaattttttttt'ssssssssss uuuuuuuuuppppppppp" vocal.

Also the track he played early on with an rather large wind up. Such a bad description, but was about the 3rd or 4th track he played.
