Description:

James Zabiela (UK)

Knowing what a great track should sound like – and the place it can be taken by warping and twisting it – is James Zabiela’s forte. Layering different sounds with the aid of two Pioneer CDJ-2000s, a Pioneer EFX-1000, Korg Kaossilator, MIDI...

Some remix of this:

There's a breaks version that Zabs played in one of his old sets, mash-up with Introvert?

---

Shame that Zabs got held up, but can really blame him after coming off a boat party and having played in Melbourne the night before. Still enjoyed my time there before having to head off to see Orbital

Props to Wowkstar keeping things going (Gyromancer!!!!) and dealing with a dodgy CDJ in the first few minutes.

Seriously epic. Zabiela, Fitzgerald and Wowk all nailed it!
I feel so buggered from dancing the whole time.

Couldn't hang around for Niggemann though, my legs were too tired from first soccer gae of the season for me. How was he?

And good to meet you, JustinJ and BMoney.

awesome night. zabiela played way more techno than i thought he would and i dont think fitzgerald played a single mediocre/boring track at all. so many tunes.

had that good spot in the pit to the side of the dj booth so was watching through the perspex at zabielas magic for most of his set. good shit.

Zabs enjoyable as always. Thought took a while to get going on the boat. But last hour or so heading under the bridge was some epic goodness. Thought he was really aware off his surroundings. The fucking dancefloor was dead half the time however. People need to learn how fucking dance rather then playing with there phones rocking side to side

Wow

what an awesome night , there was some serious tunes & vibes happening in the Cave all night

Mia Lucci played some great tunes , and Wowky smashed his warm up for Zabiela

then Zabiela did what Zabiela does best . just awesome

then George Fitzgerald , the stuff he was playing was just sooo good !

and then Niggemann finished off the night in fine style

was great to see Zabiela partying around the club too & he was really impressed with A-Tonez and even stayed in there for almost an hour watching him

I also thought it was amusing how a dude moved up to the front to take a picture of Wowk thinking that he was Zabiela.

Spoiler:
Could that he thought Wowk was famous.....

Nah.

Thanks, guys

Man, that was so much fun! Had a blast playing my set and then Zabiela, Fitzgerald and Niggemann all played blinders. Absolutely loved the diversity in Zabs' set, from the pumping prog/tech house to the more obsucre selections (some of that weird, stripped-back bass music stuff was stupidly good - anyone able to ID the track which was basically just 808 sounds? I loved that), and of course his bullshit skills were as impressive as ever! The scratching over that new Scuba tune (not The Hope, it's another one off the album but I can't remember the name) was dope as fuck.

Fitzgerald played dope tune after dope tune after dope tune. Such good programming and so many unheard/unreleased bombs in there, including a couple of his new ones that are apparently out soon. That acid monster that he played about an hour into his set as well...PHWOAR Loved how he would break up the relentless warehouse techno vibes with the occasional shuffly, garage influenced number.

Niggemann was a great way to end the night. Lots of chug and ballsy groove with the occasional big, fun tune thrown in at just the right moments. Would love an ID on that funky proper electro tune he played towards the end. Sounded like old school Prince on acid. Was so nice to hear Radioslave's remix of "Deer in the Headlights" too, haven't heard that out in AGES.

Seriously, so much fun from the moment I rocked up to the moment Alex finished his set. Weeeeee!

Thanks to Paul for the booking, that's three of the people on my "want to support" list crossed off in the one night

One of the most fun nights I had out in ages

Wowk's warm up was just right for zabs. Loved the new MJC track and ofcourse gyromancer Zabs and fitzgerald were both great, but the surprise of the night for me was niggaman who I wasn't going to stick around for, but he got me locked in a groove and brought it home with just a really all round fun set. Parts of it reminded me of matthew dekay who i used to love back in the day. Dropping dj t - funk on put a big smile on my face

PS how shy did zabs look with that girl at the end.. we were all cheering for him lol

I didn't think that champagne being sprayed from the DJ booth was a very good idea, well, with all JZs gear anyway Normally I'd consider that to be pretty rockstar sinking as I stayed dry

It might have been that. I love "Blanked" though so I figured I would have recognised it when it was played...then again I was kinda in another dimension at the time so I was probably too busy raving to notice hehe

Might not have been Blanked but there was definately some serious Pearson Sound tuneage in there at some point. Also coulda been Footloose, that's my guesses. Hope I don't embarrass myself.

WOW WOW WOW.....that was one hell of a night, that was I think my 6th or 7th time seeing Zabs, and honestly, that was the best set of his I've heard, was just awesome in every way.......Fitzgerald followed up by playing some wicked tunage, but by that time, I had to leave, was just to exhausted to stay any longer.....Thank You Laundry again

^ x 2 , fitzgerald was way above my expectation ...was a big ask for him to keep the vibe after Zabiela's set which once again was amazing and full of technical showmanship , a lot of " DJ's" really should take a leaf out of his book
