My first 3 track EP (House)
Hey Guys

I just recently completed my first EP for a Perth based label. Would be good to hear some thoughts on it if you got the time to check it out.

Sticky Situation has a really nice flow to it. I love the funkiness and the vocals. The disco bass line just glides over that rhythm and backs up against the clap every second beat. It feels upbeat but so smooth at the same time. I really like what you’re doing with the vocals, too. Cutting it up like that reminds me a bit of Push the Feeling On by Nightcrawlers. You really nailed the buildup on this one. That white noise really sucks you in, and then you cut it off and pull it back in when the beat drops. I love it.

Sleepy Lover is also a really great tune. It’s so deep and chilled. Breaking up the vocals at the start feels a bit jerky, and in fact the synth may be strong enough to carry the melody on its own for that part. You might want to try it that way and just bring them in at the end. The beat and melody and bass and vocals all work really well together, so awesome job with that. The only other thing I might suggest is altering the filters on the vocals. They sound quite muted from 0:41 to 0:57, then suddenly open up, then go back to being slightly muted once the beat drops. Personally, I find it smoother to have a nice transition and wide open vocals during the chorus.

Somebody’s Girl is pretty minimal, but that grinding bass line and haunting synth over the top really carry the song. The whole breakdown and bass drop work really well. Since the track is pretty much covered with the vocals, you could try lifting them off the bass drop and let that bass line dominate for a while so I can chill to it. It’s another really awesome tune. Love how dark it is.

Nice work.
