Yeh that smell from the carpet near the back half was pretty gross. One can only assume Meat Katie had turned that place into a heaving sweat box the night before. Didn't take anything away from the awesomeness of the night though

Wow such an awesome night!! Dave and Wowk played a killer warm up! Guy J, wow what can I say! Absolutely destroyed the place! Seriously one of the best sets I've heard in a long time!

Was great fun playing in the side room too, and thanks to everyone who came and checked me out.

I recorded my set so will have it up shortly for you all

As immature as it is, I laughed when I read this part of the sentence lol.

Also, listening to Simon and Jordan's set to get me through study time! So good!

Had an awesome night! Rated the venue, nice knowledgable crowd and great sound system. Guy J was great! Such a well thought out set for the most part - played some absolute bangers towards the end. Fantastic.

What was the mix of Heaven Scent he played?

Made the trip from wagga with 4 other mates. 3 of whom had no real idea who guy was...new fans that's for sure. once again, i feel privileged to say i say guy j absolute mastermind a dance floor epic. The set was so beautiful and melodic, but at the same time throbbing with epic raw power.
He played some absolute fucking stonkers in the last hour and a half, gotta love a bit of double kicker techno. Crowd was fab except for one group who wanted a huge amount of room so they could gurn and chat instead of dance, thankfully the true music lovers persevered.

Was there from 10 till close, fantastic music all night and once again i take my hat off to melbourne...real glass, decent drink specials, mint as sound and plenty of peeps up for a damn good time!
Can never have enough good music: http://www.hybridized.org/

First time out since f*&k knows when without earplugs and not an issue - noice one 'guv!

Had me some fun.

Feedback - get rid of the pointless and cheap decor and give us some more space on the dancefloor.

Will be back.

Cheers

Guy J was great from what I saw. Was awesome to hear him play all those lovely tunes we know from his mixes lately.

Was gross when someone dropped one on the dancefloor, I ignored the smell, then 10 minutes later smelt it again. So I moved up the back where the sound wasn't as good, and the carpet stunk up there. Went to get back to the main dancefloor however couldn't really move in there. Couldn't really get in to it all in the end. This compounded with a big day beforehand lead to me only lasting 1.5 hours of his set. Take nothing away from the music though, Guy was very good

It got me thinking, he's popular enough to host him in a proper venue with a stage, tiers etc.. like what we have in Sydney with The Forum (or Hi-Fi as it's now called) where lots of big prog acts (Hernan, Sasha) have been hosted and it's been a success with the type of venue, example photo. Not sure if you have anything similar in Melbs

Quote:

I don't go to be in the VIP area.. I don't need big breaks, a big song with a buildup and lights and smoke.. all you need is a kickdrum and a good bassline. You don't need any of that other shit. Na, I'm not going for none of those reasons.. I'm just going for the music.

^^ I really can't imagine Guy j up on a stage like that. We have billboards which has a stage, I don't like it very much, I prefer it when the Djs are a tad closer to us. I know at least some of the Djs feel the same way. They are there to share their music not to be part of a stage extravaganza. Seeing Anthony Pappa nearly leap out of his skin when the fireballs went off behind him was a little funny though It becomes a stage show rather than a musical/dance experience .

We definitely need another venue, New Guernica is really limited by it's size. But something like the Forum is probably too big.

i definitely think NG is a great venue for an artist with perhaps slightly less of a fan base.

i think its safe to say that Guy J now has the following to comforatbly fill a larger venue. Given the long weekend and Francois K and Liebing on the same day, it had the potential to perhaps not be as busy.

i still think Brown Alley downstairs is the best mid sized venue that can comfortably hold 400-800 people

Was Guy's set recorded? Didn't get a chance to pop in on Sunday but would have loved to have heard a live set from him. Listened to the Simon Murphy & J-Slyde set on soundcloud too by the way and there is some seriously good tunes in there!

Unbelievable tune. So good. I definitely stomped a few people when this and Turquoise were played. I even had to go up and give Guy a high 5 for Turquoise. Brilliant.

Cracker of a night!

Unfortunately caught only 20 mins of Dave/Wonk as I needed my rave nap, but could tell they had been a fantastic warm up. Love that Sun remix.

Guy J was amazing. Enjoyed his set a lot more than last time, could tell he was having a ball. That last hour he just stepped it up a notch, was not expecting that.

Credit to J-Slyde & Simon Murphy to come on after that. Thoroughly enjoyed your set as well, some blinders in there. Good to see a decent amount of people there when the lights came on.

LOL at people remarking about the smell up the back, that aint human peeps! Definate bin juice spillage there haha.

Credit to all involved

WOW.. what a great night it was on Sunday night..

The vibe was AWESOMEING!

GUY J

Guy totally rocked it from start to finish. His set was def up there as one of the best sets i have seen from him so far imho.

Juric & Wowk - great warm up guys.. (only caught the last half, but from what i seen it was spot on)

Simon & J-Slyde - very nice closing set indeed.. you guys held the floor nicely until stumps and rocked out some great tunes.. Props!

Big up to all the djs in the kitchen - you guys all held your own, it was good to see every time i went in there, it had a great vibe going on.. (special mentions to Seb Wild - played some stuff in there)

Thanks to all of you that came down and supported The Breakfast Club's 4th instalment with GUY J - You guys really did help make it something special on the night, and we really hope you continue to support for the brand and we look forward to bringing you the 5th instalment very shortly..

Until next time

^What he said..

Massive vibe. Great night, sounded tops and Guy was a gentleman and obviously a master of his craft.

Re the stench. It wasn't there when the club emptied out - so it must have left with some of the punters... might have been caused by some of the attendees that had been partying all day and continued on into the eve...

Thanks to all DJs and The Breakfast Club partners for a top show, till next time.

My girlfriend didn't believe me when I told her to mentally prepare for phantom farters on the dancefloor and she just laughed at me.

She had never been to a club in Melbourne before and spent half the night with her nose screwed up due to peeps dropping farts.
