Kill Frenzy - Booty Clap (FUNLIFE remix) [ghetto house / techno]
Remix I've been working on.

Chopped up loop from the vocals, synth breakdown and 808 in on the drop.

Would appreciate any feedback / thoughts etc

I really liked that dude.. My only comment would be more boom to your bass, but that's exactly the thing I'm struggling to do at the moment too - so I can't offer any advice there! Haha..

Thanks man. Yeah it's something I've been trying to get right too. I think it comes down to a couple of things. EQing the kick, subbass and any bass lines. Getting the subbass to sit in mix properly is important. It's a hard balance to get the bass present but not over the top, especially with a kick, subbass, bass lines and low toms all competing for those frequencies. Compression probably comes in here too. And of course, I expect professional mastering would help bring out the bass

Yeah it all sounds very easy when it's written like that!! Hahaha... I've been trying to 'master' bass compression since I was 13 and playing bass guitar! Hahaha... Then that ducking/sidechain sound became popular and I couldn't believe it - the same weird wooshing effect i'd been trying to get rid of!! Haha.. Ohh well...

What do you use for mastering? I use T-Rack, but I can't find anyone else who uses it for dance music, so I'm wondering if I need something more specific...??

Haha yeah knowing conceptually what needs to be done and achieving it are different.. I need to spend more time tweaking / mixing bass sounds. Also not having a studio makes it hard.

In terms of plugins I've been keeping it pretty simple - EQ, Compressor and Limiter from FabFilter.. I haven't had them very long but them seem to be good and have good reviews online. From what I've read - depending on your listening environment / end goal etc, most decent eqs, compressors will be good enough
