Was just on the C2S website and noticed it's now only a few days til entries open, and then there's only four days until the cutoff for discounted entry. So figured it was prolly a good time to start a thread for this year, as I figure there a fair few of us who'll be doing it. I thought it might also be an idea to start a rollcall, chuck in your name, the start group that you're planning on running in, and the time you're aiming to finish in. I'll kick it off (even though my goal is pretty pathetic by most people's standards)
Also though it might be cool to organise a bit of an S&F crew for the day and maybe even get some singlets printed up or something (teal AS Color perhaps?) suggestions for witty slogans welcome...

SpaceMonkey - Blue - 80min (though will be happy with anything under 90 so I get green next year)

I'm still undecided about green or blue. It's fun to start with friends.

Depending on whether the marathon leaves me crippled or not, I'd like to hit around 70 minutes.

Yeah I'm doing it this year, first time in 10 years. I did it back when I was 13 and ran 81 mins. This time I hope to finish at around the 60 minute mark. No idea how realistic or not that is. I guess because I have no prior qualifying race time then I'll have to start in blue.

Sub 60 is 4:17min/km aka fair hauling arse.

Yeah probably won't be that. Especially considering will probably be going at a social pace at the start to run with my group at least for a little bit. Under 80 I'll aim for.

hmmm might look into this if i can get cheap flights. the bris show pub holiday is on the 15th, so i could have 5 days in sydney for only 2 days of annual leave

FAQ explains it, if you don't have a previous time at one of the events listed then you have to start in blue

You won;t be dodging prams, there's two groups behind blue with the walkers, prams, wheelchairs, pantomine horses etc starting in the back group (orange). Blue is the unqualified runners group, so you'll just have to dodge me and Bism. If you're at the front of blue pretty much everyone in front of you is probably aiming for sub 70.

There's 25 minutes difference between the back of that group and where I would like to be...If I lived in Sydney it wouldn't matter at all but I don't think there is any real point flying up from Melbourne unless I can have a real crack at it.

Anselm, I got 86 minutes with barely any training & never having done more than 11km. We walked parts, messed around & didn't take it too seriously. A friend belted ahead of us & ended up with 60something minutes. You can definitely get a decent time in the blue group.

The prams, kids, people who don't care about times, are all in another group way back.

I think you're confusing the net times with the other times. In other words the clock starts the minute the elites do & all times are measured from that, regardless of the start staggers. Not only that, but it takes a minute or so to even shuffle across the start line. The time you should pay attention to & which appears on your certificate, etc is the net time - your time between the start & finish lines.

red- 60 minutes

Anselm I did it in 67 minutes from the blue group and I was taking it easy in prep of the marathon you may have heard i did
