Clubs like.. in Melbourne
Hey guys,

Been living it up in London for the past year hitting places such as Ministry of Sound, Fabric, Carbon, Koko and The Nest. I am originally from Adelaide and liked Sugar, Cuckoo and occasionally Electric Circus while I was living there.

I am returning to Melbourne, Australia for a while in July and wanted to know from you guys which clubs are worth going to (given the above) and which clubs I should steer clear from. I've never really parties in Melbourne and the general web isn't really helping at this point.

Cheers and look forward to your thoughts/suggestions.

Can you be more specific about what music you like?

Every club will be different on any given night

Sure,

Electro house, tech-house, progressive house and techno. Not sure if that's a little broad for you. I would also love to hear about club culture. I find in Australia there are a lot of clubs that are very for want of a better word - pretentious? Maybe it's just me...

Cheers

New Guernica, 161, Brown Alley, Roxanne, Billboards, Loop, Room & Ladida on any given night will have that sort of sound. I don't find the clubs here pretentious but that's prob because of the clubs I go to. Keep an eye on the forums here and try a few of the parties being promoted. Generally the crowds are better and the music is better than the more 'commercial' clubs.

Well I frequented pretty similar places when I lived in London and Adelaide.

I find Melbourne is more about the promoters and the night then the venue.

Brown Alley, Roxannes, 161, New Guernica all good places, you're in for a treat compared to Adelaide. Though I miss places like Cuckoo and the whole everyone knows everyone vibe of Adelaide (cause the scene has less then 100 or so regulars)
