A thread for Modern Love-rs
So I thought I'd start a thread for Modern Love, and their weird brand of noise/experimental/deep techno. In the last 12 - 18 months they have been on fire, with Demdike Stare's Elemental releases, as well as Andy Stott's amazing Passed Me By/We Stand Together double album.

Demdike Stare - Ishmael's Intent

Andy Stott - We Stay Together (Part One)

These guys are also responsible for Claro Intelecto's Warehouse Sessions from 2006, as well as a string of releases from Deepchord (as DeepChord presents Echospace), so they have some great dub techno chops as well.

Anyone else been feeling their output?

Yeah, great label.

Basically anything by Intelecto and/or Stott is gold. That Deep Chord, Pendel Coven and Demdike Stare make regular appearances makes for a pretty special label.

Intelecto's Warehouse sessions was massive as far as I am concerned (may have even have been the precursor to Scott latest ridiculousness). It is like two have been in an on going battle.

Was primarily a Dub Techno label for some time (a quality one at that) but the transformation in the last couple of years has been quite interesting. They really have developed a warped, industrial sound.

Make sure you check out those older MLZ releases, bombs, all of them.

Andy Stott is amazing, one of my top 3 producers ever, and often number 1 after I've let his tunes destroy my monitors through a listening session. Has he ever been down to Oz?

But despite my love for Stott, and the dub sounds of modern love (MLZ!), my fav would have to be Move D - Drone, lovely head down lose yourself shit, late late night stuff . Lucky enough to have it on vinyl.

Awesome label.

As far as I know Andy has not been to Australia on a tour or else I would've known about it, unless it was when I was living in Tokyo.

It would be fantastic to see him for a 2hr live set. It'd be a game venue to offer up its system for that. Hopefully summer brings us some Stott, Wadsworth, Surgeon and a Underground Quality party ft the entire crew (spesh Fred P).

I've had he pleasure of listening to this at about 5am on the way home on a cold grey morning.

I've reconsidered my position, and this it not a drunk post but, Modern Love is a hipster douche bag label.

Dammmmmmn son! One of the reasons I wanted to head to Unsound Adelaide was for Demdike but seeing as I'm out of the country for a while I'm really gutted. A Melbourne show will be superb!

(I picked the right year to leave the country didn't I? )

Very excited to be helping put this show together. In the similar situation of "couldn't go to Adelaide to see them", so was happy to book them a date in Melbourne.

It will be a different unique set to the Adelaide Festival performance FYI, and the full A/V setup will be present. Not seen them before, cannot wait.

Went and saw Andy Stott at the Corner on Thursday night.

I think Stott killed it but it was kind of hard to tell as there were large chunks of his set that were just walls of unintelligible noise anchored to kicks.

Got to give it to Novel for recreating the experience of watching club performances on youtube while at the club.

Anyone else seen him elsewhere in Australia?

Loved the first half - for me the noise and kicks is what I went for and his Modern Love releases is the best of his productions in my view

Interesting choice of support

It wasn't the noise that was the problem. It was the inability to distinguish between any of the noises which I knew were supposed to be coming out of the speakers that was the issue.

This I agree with - Think the corners system let him down as it missing allot of detail while still being painful

Wish he just stuck with the noise for longer though!@
