Joining forces in a techno union this October the dedicated techno heads from Disconnected and lovers of all things deep & melodic Shrug bring you one of the worlds most influential techno artists who’s been at the forefront of the art form for longer that most of you have been filling dance floors.

Correlating a following in his European homeland of the Netherlands for his European take on Detroit techno Steve has cemented himself in Techno annuals of history.

In 1995 Sterac aka Steve Rachmad released his first album 'Secret Life of Machines' on Amsterdam imprint 100% Pure. A composition of nine beautifully sultry tracks from the melodic techno flow of ‘Axion’ to the sheer brilliance, beauty and soul of ‘Astronotes’. It was hailed as a defining highlight in Techno history.

17 years later, Sterac has reached back to that classic milestone in Detroit Techno’s heritage and has given it a whole new lease of musical life for release on 100% Pure in June.


Sterac adds “I still own the equipment that I used back then, so I remade a selection of the tracks with my studio machines - a Roland TR-808, R-8m, U-20, Juno 106, JX 8p as well as my Yamaha TX-81z and FB-01."

Following the remastered release in June on 100% Pure, Steve delivers his own remix treatments, then we bring the heat to the summer with a massive rollout of headliner remixes in August by Ricardo Villalobos, Joris Voorn, 2000 and One, Christian Smith, Joel Mull, Heiko Laux, Marc Romboy, Samuel L Session, Vince Watson, Klartraum and Nadja Lind.

Immensely excited about this party. His CLR podcast from earlier this year is amazing.

The guy is a legend and his sound is so diverse. Deep, melodic, more housey stuff, all the way through to really slamming techno.

Perfect fit for the two crews putting on the party IMO. Though I may be a little biased

Plus, this will be the second last party Disconnected will be involved with an one of my last few gigs in Sydney.

A series of quality singles and EPs are littered throughout Rachmad's discography on
well-regarded labels such as 100% Pure, Cocoon, Underwater, Tresor, M-Plant, Fragile and most recently on Music Man, Artless, Sino, Delsin and the list goes on. He also has a myriad of remixed tracks by artists like Joe Mull, Nina Kraviz, M.A.N.D.Y vs Booka Shade, John Tejada and Basement Jaxx to name but a few.

One of the first to be successful at mixing with a 3rd deck, he has played everywhere imaginable. From the Berghain in Berlin, to D-Edge in Brazil and across the South Pacific Ocean at festivals in Australia; the man is quite simply one of techno's most unique talents.

His latest LP is a certified hit of a touched up old gem released in June this year. The original groundbreaking classic came out in 1995 titled: Secret Life Of Machines.
Now, a collaboration encompassing an array of top artists have produced a remastered and remixed selection of works on 100% Pure Records.

The list of contributors includes a well respected and protuberant group of leading techno artists: Joe Mull, Marc Romboy, Heiko Laux, Joris Voorn, 2000 And One, Christian Smith, Ricardo Villalobos, Klartraum, Nadja Lind and Samuel L. Session and Vince Watson.

Those names alone emphasise the profound effect Rachmad has sustained in the underground music scene.

The man who casts himself under the alias "Sterac," is ready to embark on yet another Australian tour and Funf Touring is delighted to present a true master of techno.

Artists on DJZONE.tv reaffirmed the legendary status of Rachmad and spoke glowingly of his stirring success with the remodeled Secret Life Of Machines.

Fellow countrymen and budding house producer, Benny Rodrigues declared his unbridled love for the timeless track Astronotes.

"Astronotes is like one of the most beautiful pieces of Dutch-Detroit techno ever," he said.

For Berlin-born Ben Klock, the song is a personal favourite for the bourgeoning techno artist.

"Astronotes track is always with me and in special moments I will play it as my last track of my set," he asserted.

Darko Esser is in awe of the original Secret Life Of Machines and the influence it's had on his own career.

"It's one of the most emotionally written albums that Dutch techno has ever produced," he said.

"It's so dreamy and I've always wondered how did he get it find that sound, it's so uncommon, you don't hear it much in any other productions."

Again for Germany's fine techno artist Chris Leibing he too marvels at how the album has flourished for almost two decades now.

"Listening to it today, you find out that it is still sounding extremely fresh," he said.

Josh Wink leaves no stone unturned in his appraisal of Rachmad's 1995 techno installment.

"He could release this LP again and it would sound as if it was brand new music – deep, sexy and atmospheric techno at it's finest," Wink explained.
