He is one of the world's best and most inspiring underground producers. You can tell he works so hard on each production/remix, and it's amazing how none of them sound alike

^^^ Oh, tell me about it , they should be sentenced to the deepest darkest corners of hell !!

I'm going to upload another set of Jamie's from Mink late last year/early this year. He had literally made tracks that afternoon for it.

Great thread.

The guy is a legend of Australian dance music. So many great productions. Not to mention his work with Infusion.

A few I revisit every now and then -

Dousk - Hammer (Jamie Stevens & Steve Ward Remix) - Love the mid section of this one!
Media Player

Both remixes of Antix's Lost & Found. Seriously great production work with these remixes. Kept the great parts of the original but managed to really change the track and put his own stamp on it, in two ways!

Antix Feat. Mark Ridout - Lost & Found (Jamie Stevens Golden Return Remix)
Media Player

Antix - Lost & Found (Jamie Steven's Quest For Floating Remix)
Media Player

I don't go to be in the VIP area.. I don't need big breaks, a big song with a buildup and lights and smoke.. all you need is a kickdrum and a good bassline. You don't need any of that other shit. Na, I'm not going for none of those reasons.. I'm just going for the music.

Jamie getting singled out by Eelke Kleijn in Eelke's new OTB for January 2013, for Jamie's remix of Dave Seaman & John 00 Fleming - Pixelated which got a release on the OTB label.

We have the new Dave Seaman & John 00 Fleming which was released on Outside The Box late last year. Today I'm playing the remixes by Dibby Dougherty & David Young.. and the one by Jamie Stevens which is really really excellent, one of my favourites at the moment.

yeh!!

oh wait.... that's me.....

Have spoken to J-Slyzzle and apparently the last 2 there have been problems with the recordings. On the night Jamie was on we cannot work out what happened, it's just fcuked. The last one was more user error cos a few of the acts couldn't hear properly on stage and yeh tinkering with the mixer fcuked the recording.

Chameleon Ensemble at Let Them Eat Cake were epic! Such a killer groove, fuck knows what each of the four of them were doing, but they sure looked the part!
Pete Gordon - Deep and Low

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it

Agreed was a stellar set. And from my understanding: Brent and Jamie were on samples, Steve on Drums/mixng, Scott on FX.

Here is an exclusive mix I had Jamie Stevens and Steve Ward do for my podcast mid last year:

At Rainbow his set was pretty good, second day in the late afternoon at 6:30pm for two hours. After a few sound hiccups (from what I can gather, not his own) he belted out a sound only a few producers manage to hit. Hard drumming, beautiful melody and progression mixed with vocals perfectly placed. He nailed his slot (prior to the stage shutting down for the opening ceremony) as far as I'm concerned.

The guy's sublimely talented. He has an ear for a mix that not many others posess, and as time has gone by after going solo his technical dj'ing skills really shine through to complement the music he produces.

We were extremely lucky to have him play a great set at our camp site on the Monday night after Guy J on our dinky little system too...........

The guy's freakishly talented. I'll leave it at that..
Well, we all probably should have listened more intently when Michael Jackson repeatedly advised us how bad he was.

So following on from Slatt's and Di's comments earlier in this thread, The Wonder Of You is getting a release. Jamie has really gone and done it with this one, what an absolutely amazing piece of music. Serious goosebumps-inducing track. Think it might just give it another listen, and another listen...

Other comments on the EP -
The remix does nothing for me, it's all about the original.
Lullaby (Parts I + II) is class and Dandelion goes pretty good.

https://soundcloud.com/jamiestevens/...nder-of-you-ep

Looking forward to making the purchase and showing some support

^^ I'm actually grateful he is letting us buy it It is such a beautiful track. One of those that sounds richer every time you play, and absolutely amazing on the dancefloor. I'm biting the bullet and saying best track of the year for me. When you consider some of the amazing music that has been released this year that is a big bullet

Can't wait to get in aiff and load onto the iPod!!

Just quietly the rest of the ep is pretty amazing, the other originals would stand up very well on their own. I'm with the guy that made that comment on the remix.

Yeah I thought the same about the KU remix as well.

When I heard he was doing one I was excited, but his mix just coasts on the tails of the amazing originals bits and does NOTHING new or interesting with them.

What a disappointment as I love KU.

^^^ that is exactly the way I feel , I am sad about it too Still I reckon it would be really hard to add to the original in any way !! If I did remixes I wouldn't even attempt this one.

Nah I didn't mean they were comments on soundcloud, I meant those as my other comments on the EP following on from my initial sentence on the title track in my post... how I feel personally on the EP.

By the looks of the other posts in this thread, looks like you all have similar feelings

I believe Jamie spent several months on the original track, programming all the orchestral parts from scratch. That's dedication!

Weird, I absolutely love KU's remix.

And it is pretty different to the original, I like the darker twisted take on it. It's prob one of my fav KU remixes he's done in ages.

The original is spectacular though

Brisbane River - Bretts Wharf
[Description]

After many months of planning and heated negotiations, a federal election or two and some international border disputes and debacles, Ulterior are pleased to finally bring Melbourne techno/house maestro duo Steve Ward and Jamie Stevens to Brisbane for the next boat party, but take note, this is not just any 3 hour back to back set… This is a very rare chance for you to witness the Steve Stevens experience!
