some performance tips please!
Hi your eminences,
I have got some mad gear and have been DJing for practice at a roller disco every friday night for the past 4 months (they let my daughter skate for free every second week when she is with us) ... So now I have the chance to enter a DJ comp here in Cairns.
Here is a 5 minute set starter.. any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated..
Don't worry about telling me that I suck and am too old--> I know already!
Ok Im not allowed to post the link so look for 2flynewmedia in youtube.. film is called "trying to dj"
Any and all feedback greatly appreciated.
cheers and have a great day

Trainwrecked that first transition a bit? Sounds like the two tracks are out of phase with snares on the first beat and kick drums on second. Also not sure how that matrix intro fits into a top40 set, sounds like something that belongs into a psy/goa trance set.

As Rocky said, the Matrix sample isn't a good fit at all.

This isn't my kind of music at all, but that's just a person thing; I came across this link some time ago which may help in how to structure a mix.

It doesn't help me because of the type of music I play, but if you're looking for pointers, it may not be a bad place to start.

Latest mix: strickly downtempo affair.

Agree with the above; with the Matrix intro I was expecting something a little different to a top 40 mix. Good to see some experimentation though, maybe just refine your approach.

Look into phrasing to get your transitions sounding a little more natural. Would also be of benefit to key your tracks.

Agreed.

Also I know you are a commercial DJ but you can play outside the current top 10 and still be accessible.
Check it ****s.
