Favourite old school Brisbane venues
What's everyones favourite club / night that no longer exists. Showing my age I'm gonna say La Discotheque and UK/DT. And yes I realise that these venues aren't strictly speaking 'old school' but you know...

The Site (across from the Roxy ... err the Arena)

this was the best venue - but no money was ever spent on upgrading it and then it was bought out by the chinese.

UK/DT - M25 - OUT. I don't care what anyone thinks but I have always loved this venue. Such a waste.

Malaria - the side room of the tube. Saw a wicked D'nB set from Matt Kitshon there years ago. And 2 females (can't recall their name) did a fantastic live set in there. They were stark bollock naked apart from yellow and orange bodypaint. The vibe was electric (not cras!) and they were fucking great!

Sunnyside up! Was another great place.

*cue Babs Streisand voice*

Memories light the corner of my mind.
Misty water color memories
Of the way we were.

Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind,
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were.

Can it be that it was all so simple then,
Or has time rewritten every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again,
Tell me? would we? could we?
Memories may be beautiful and yet,
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget.
So it's the laughter
We will remember,
Whenever we remember

Sugar, I didn't relaise they had these reunions - pray do tell!!
The way we were;
The way we were.

ohhh...too many to list...
Metropolis
The Site
La Discoteque
Out
Transformers (mainly for rock gigs)
Channel 13 (Thanks Bec, wherever you are...gotta give props to the people who gave you the first chance to DJ and put a night on, even if they were a little odd)

That bar on the corner of George St where Mass used to be. (When they had the upstairs/downstairs thing going it was great. Small, hot, and full of pissed Goths, but fun )

Ja Ja's for sure. The best venue that died a too-early death in Brisbane.
Ric's Upstairs
Grand Orbit (only went the MoWax night though, but it was nice)

ok, well not TOO many. I've had good nights in many others, but these were the ones to stick out.

The pre-Family landscape...how things have changed.

Anyone remember Sacrificial Virgins, next to what was then the Roxy - a dirty industrial goth/freak basement hangout.
Backstage at the Alliance? Morticia's?
Funk Yard and Volcanic Bass in the era of grunge - not to mention the good ol treasury for your punk injection.
Metropolis in the Myer centre basement.
Sherwood Aussie Rules Club metal nights - grrrroouuuwwwwllllll!!
St Pauls Tavern
The Buffulo Club in Paddo
Ahhh, the memories....
Anyone remember B.U.M.S (brisbane underground music scene) magazine?
